Are there any videos on the market for intermediate to advanced exercisers who suffer from common, garden variety lower back pain and want to avoid making it worse? I do my best at modifying, but I'm never really sure how to modify correctly, and I never seem to get it right. Given that 50% of adults experience back pain at least annually, surely there must be something out there that's both safe and effective? Anyone? Much appreciated.

Gosh Nance, wish I could help but I don't stray hardly ever from my Cathe's! (other then, I do my classes 4X/week) I am wondering if her new series coming out wouldn't be your best option? Did you order it? Thinking of you...I know back pain is NO fun! (maybe do some add-on exercises each week to strengthen your back, such as Supermans, deadlifts???)

Nancy, have you looked into if its overly tight leg muscles? Often lower back pain can be caused by your muscles not properly relaxing after a workout. The other thing that can be a problem is a bad chair at work. Have you tried sitting on a ball instead of a regular chair? Leo Laporte uses one and seems very happy with it.

Have you tried incorporating yoga into your daily routine? I do yoga daily, and it has made a tremendous difference in my flexibility and overall fitness. I like to do a weight training workout or cardio workout - and then do my yoga after. It could be anywhere from 15min to 1 hour of yoga - whatever works that day.
Hope that helps |
