Hello again,

No workout today, not sure why....probably that time change!

Josie, I wish we had your weather, but glad we don't have the traffic or the tourists!

Valerie, it's probably a good idea to hold off on the longer trip...let your leg get more rest time.

Judy, yes...Valerie is correct, that is White Coat Hypertension...my DH has it too...keeping good thoughts for little Echo...

Garance, I thought that varicose veins were the ones that actually lifted up from the skin...and spider were tiny ones, kind of "spider web looking"....not sure now. My DR has never said anything, then of course the one I have now is not that good...hence the C-Diff... I am considering going back to my other DR....now that we have insurance that he takes...

Off to pay bills and all that other Sunday stuff....

Take care,

Finally going on a limited trip. will leave tomorrow mid day. a local spot, the San Juan Islands. will do a little hiking and mt biking, bird watching and maybe whale watching. whales show up here more noticeably in march and april on their migration north to AK. nothing too difficult. I want to ease back in. we still may do the CA trip if I feel OK about walking 5-10 miles.

Did 20 on the spin bike at 19 mph, sitting, and then Burnsets, ch, sh, ba. it went fine. much of the time I have zero discomfort and then sometimes it aches, but way better than a couple days ago. I feel confident it's getting better. I am NOT going to "overdo" to my best judgment. I think the spin bike gets motion/ juices flowing without impact, twisting, or stretching anything too much. there is a small bursa there (forgot if I said what it was) where a ligament attaches that can get irritated.

I have some spider veins on the inside of one knee, the top leg where I cross them ... which I try not to do. hard habit to break. they are nothing significant and not noticeable.

our cousin is still suffering with c diff. he is being a real whiner about it and everyone is getting burned out with dealing with him. Deb, you were a real trooper compared to him.

Good morning,

Today I did an iTrain treadmill workout 32 minutes.

Valerie, glad you are able to get in that trip that you have been trying to plan. Whale watching sounds great! How long will you be gone? C-Diff can be very dangerous if not stopped. Even though my DR never mentioned it, I was treated pretty early because I went to the ER on my own. There are some pretty gross treatments, if it gets to a certain point where the meds do not kill the bacteria. I hope your cousin doesn't or isn't at that point.

Hi to all....

Work, then to dinner with a peer that is in town from Michigan...no class tonight anyway so that worked out well.

Take care,

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, Lori, and Judy--

This morning I did Barre Fitness (60 min.).

That sounds like a lovely vacation, Valerie and not too strenuous. I, too, did not know you could get bursitis in your knee.

Went out to dinner last night and did get the first two courses of the comfort Sunday meal--fried chicken and mac and cheese--brought half home. DH also had the coconut cake and I had a couple delicious bites.

Gosh, it sounds like we have more snow coming on Wednesday night. Oh well, maybe next winter will be warmer.

Anyone else fascinated by that missing plane? It's like something out of the Twilight Zone (I guess that dates me!). Now they are wondering if it crashed somewhere in the Malaysian jungle instead of in the China Sea.

ttfn

It's actually not even my knee, but about 2 inches below on the inside, feels like more my shin. but it's sore regardless.

Lynda, I've been watching the missing plane story closely. it seems like there'd be floating debris by now if in the water. it sounds like terrorism with no one claiming responsibility. mechanical malfunction possible too but zero communication? I thought the transponder would have been detected by now.

Deb, cousin (DH's cousin) is an extremely(!!) talkative guy. he retired in august. got sick shortly after. first a sinus infection then surgery to correct some problems, then antibiotics and it developed into a c diff infection. on different drugs for that and seeing all kinds of specialists and generally being a huge PITA. he is "sick" but really doesn't seem "sick" when we've seen him. I think he needs to talk, is so bored by retirement that this is a way to connect with people and feel important again. he has nothing to occupy himself except for thinking about how "sick" he is. I'm not denying he's been ill, but he seems to be grossly exaggerating things. I keep thinking if I were one of his docs, I'd dread another call from him. he's relying on DH for conversation and support and DH is getting worn out over it. so we will be out of touch for 2-3 days.

Deb there are a lot of whales... killer whales are most easily seen, but also migrating humpbacks. sometimes they hang out close to shore and are easy to see if you're in the right place at the right time. mostly luck. I've gone on several boat trips for whale watching but not this trip.

I'm doing WW , but with less activity I'll be lucky to even hold in place.

Good evening ladies,

Rest day today...with the time change and lack of sunday night sleep no way was I even going to attempt one.

Yesterday I did Rockout on the heavy bag. Did the first two combinations then the bonus heavy bag that comes with it followup up with cardio kicks punching drills on the heavy bag. This makes the workout and hour and ten minutes. I created this one on workout blender so no changing dvd's. It is one continuous workout. Love Workout Blender!

Valerie...sounds like a really nice trip. Glad you are finally going somewhere. Whales are really beautiful to watch. I have been on only one whale watch boat ride and we struck out and saw nothing.

Lynda...coconut cake sounds yummy. I am also fascinated about this plane. I have not watched the news today so I have not seen any updates other than they are still looking. So many things going thru my mind and then the stolen passports on top of this. I feel so sorry for all the families and what they must be going through.

Judy...good to know your neighbor has been fine since her surgery. Very encouraging. This is how we are feeling about my brother. They will take it out and all will be good.

Deb...have fun with your friend.

Josie...I know what you mean about legs getting stiff when standing waiting. In massachusetts we have The Pan Mass Challenge. This is a 200 bike ride to benefit the Dana Farber Institute. I did this ride 8 years in a row. Every 20 miles or so there would be a water break. Sometimes my family would meet me at them. I eventually told them politely that it makes it harder for me to meet them and chat for 30 minutes. Was easier for me to just stop to stretch, potty break and then move on!

Have a good night!

Good morning,

Woke up at 3:30 for some reason, could not get back to sleep so I got up around 3:40 and did KCM Trim Down #1. I know I will regret this later!

Garance, that Sunday Comfort food dinner sounds great. I had Banana Pepper Mac & Cheese last night, a group of people from work went to dinner to a local sports place that is know for it's many varieties of mac & cheese. It's been many years since I have had fried chicken though. I did watch the pilot of The Americans...very edgy.

Valerie, the plane situation is starting to point to terrorism I think...with those people with stolen passports etc. Very strange. Your cousin does sound like he may need someone to talk to.

Lori, That workout sounds good but long! I would love to have parts of one workout mixed with others, but the workout blender means I would have to purchase the workouts I already have in download format and I just can't justify that for some reason. I feel I have too many workouts already and having doubles of the same things would really bug me! Then of course I just pre-ordered KCM's 2 new ones.:)

Hi to Josie, & Judy,

Work then home to crash. We are supposed to get some storm tomorrow night...a foot of snow in some areas....Enough already!

Hi Ladies,

I went for a long walk with my friend and he 2 year old yesterday. We waked to Venice Beach and then had a nice lunch of tomato basil soup and half of a grilled cheese sandwich. Today is body pump class.

Garance, the comfort dinner sound so good. I have not had fried chicken in so long.

Lori, during the ALC ride we have pit stops every 15-20 miles and I'm like you. I stretch, refill my water bottles, refuel and go to the restroom and leave a soon as I can.

Valerie, have a great trip!

Hi to Deb and Judy!

Josie

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, Lori, and Judy--

This morning I did Jazzercise HiiT (47 min.).

Deb, The Americans seems to have a lot of sex. I guess what I like about it is that Elizabeth is so tough. I also think it's a timely series given our recent issues with Putin, a former KGB agent. I don't know how you can get up and exercise at that time, especially since DST. You're exercising in the middle of the night! The fried chicken was really good. A lovely light crunchy coating--not like KFC.

Lori, the missing plane sounds a bit like the TV series Lost. I never did get into that series, but I remember the opening episode. That sounds like a great workout you put together. I think I am too lazy to be inventive with my workouts. I just put a dvd in and let it roll. I don't know about you, but I sure hope we don't get a lot of snow with this next storm.

Josie, a walk to Venice beach sounds absolutely lovely.

Hi to Valerie and Judy!

Good evening ladies!

This morning was ruthless fast slow burn circuit and tonight was xtrain ch,bk,sh. I haven't done cathe's weight workouts in a while and I actually miss her!

Deb...I bought all the downloads with the presale of cathe's newest dvds. I also picked up a few older ones around the holidays. She was having a great sale. Some of the sale ones I bought I already owned on dvd. But that did not bother me. I look at it as a small price to keep me motivated to workout. Well...that is how I justified it anyways. ;)

Lynda...still can't believe they have not found that plane. Crazy this day and age. I loved LOST. One of the few TV series I watched. I bought the entire series on DVD too. Not looking forward to more snow tomorrow especially after today. Hit 60 here and it felt wonderful!

Josie..a walk to Venice Beach sounds lovely to me. We still have a ton of snow in my yard, on the roof, everywhere.

Hi to Valerie and Judy!

Good morning,

I slept in this morning, (5:15) and it felt great! There is a snow storm that is predicted to hit today and tonight. Although, they said it was supposed to start last night, with 2-4 inches when we woke up this morning and there is nothing. Go figure. They have everyone panicking....18 inches of snow today and overnight tonight....ok. Even one of our counties announced the closing of all of their offices today...because of the snow prediction...and nothing....idiots. I hope they are wrong about that too.

Josie, tomato soup and grilled cheese! A comfort food lunch from when we were kids.

Garance, I never watched the Lost TV show either but it does sound like that missing plane....very scary...I hope they find something that tells them what happened. Getting up early isn't so bad, I just am the opposite of most people, my waking hours are early in the am, and I am in bed by 9:00..

Someone over at MFP said they got an e-mail telling them that Collage Video is closing !! Garance, you order from them, did you get that e-mail? That is sad if it is true. I like going over there to view different workouts.

edited to add: I guess they are having a big sale on their DVD's now...in case anyone was looking for something.

Lori, I forgot that Cathe discounts the downloads too when she has a sale, that would make it better...I still think I would be overwhelmed trying to figure out a workout to mix together, and then actually doing it...Also, would have to do the workout from the iPad, which is ok in a hotel room once in a while (that's how I do Travel Fit) but not all the time. I never could justify buying those cables you need from Apple to connect the iPod to the TV.

Hi to Judy, & Valerie,

Stay warm!

Just a quick note, I ordered a KCM video from Collage last night, "30 Min. to Fitness: Shape Up" for $8.99. That looks like one I will like. It's too bad they are going out of business, just when I was starting to use the site :(

Judy

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, Lori, and Judy--

This morning I did ch, ba, sh (51:15). I agree, Lori, this is a great workout.

I did get that e-mail from Collagevideo. I wonder why they are going out of business. I thought they must be doing okay because they always have the new workouts and tons of reviews from their customers. I might go over there and see if there is anything I really want, but I have so many......

Deb, it's just raining here today, but they keep saying the cold front will shift south and we will eventually get ice and snow. I hope it just stays rain at this point. The weather people want to inflict post-traumatic weather syndrome on us so that we are afraid to go outside for several months after a storm.

Lori, maybe I will check to see if Lost is on Amazon prime.

Judy, did you at least get missed by this latest storm?

Hi to Josie and Valerie!

Good evening ladies,

I slept in this morning too. Woke up and just wasn't feeling it. Still adjusting to the time change. Tonight I did Cardio Leg Blast. Been too long since I did this. It felt very fresh for me tonight.

Yes so sad that Collage is going out of business. I have bought many workouts from Collage thru the years. Love going on their site to look at the reviews. They are the ones that actually started me doing home videos. My neighbor in 1995 gave me their catalog and I bought my first Cathe.

Judy...I like Shape Up a lot. For a 30 minute workout I feel like I really worked. Let us know how you like it. How is Echo?

Deb...I have noticed she offers great discounts I think twice a year. Around the holidays I think it was 40% off if you spent 50 or more. So it made it so affordable for me to get the downloads I really wanted. I would never have duplicated with out the sale!

Lynda...keeping my fingers crossed that it is mostly rain in this area. I am so sick of this already.

Hi to Josie and Valerie!

Hi Everyone,

We ended up getting about 4-5 inches of snow here. The roads were really bad and I ended up staying home today. I was able to spend the day with Echo so that was good.

We have her set up on a bed in our living room during the day. My spin bike is in the living room too, so I've been able to ride every day and keep an eye on her too. She still can't walk at all, but her fever is gone now. She does eat and drink but I have to prompt her and help her with it. At night we take her upstairs to our room so she isn't alone. I am praying that the new vet we are seeing Friday can help Echo, and at least give us an accurate diagnosis and prognosis.

Lynda- I definitely have "post-traumatic weather syndrome" after this winter.

Lori-I'm looking forward to doing "Shape Up". It looks like a great workout from the preview. I love my Cathe workouts but it's nice to try something else once in a while too.

Deb-I've been drinking Kefir most days, it seems like a good source of probiotics. There has been some kind of stomach bug going around here so I've been increasing my probiotic intake and so far I've avoided getting sick.

Hi to Josie & Valerie,

Judy

Good morning,

I didn't get up today again...maybe that 3:30 workout wasn't such a good idea. Well the storm that we got wasn't as bad as they predicted ( go figure). Hopefully it's the last one for this winter now...I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Judy, Echo is so lucky to have you and your DH. She couldn't have "picked" a better home to be adopted into. Keeping good thoughts about the doctor visit tomorrow. Yes, Kefir is a good probiotic. I read that 80% of your immune system resides in your "gut"..(their work not mine!) I went over to Collage, but it was kind of annoying. The viewer for the clips kept freezing and starting up again. That never happened to me before on there....they may have had too many people on at once...not enough band width.

Garance, I hope the storm misses your area. I felt compelled to go over to Collage, even though I knew I shouldn't buy any more DVD's. Probably good that the site was annoying. :)

Lori, glad you like Shape Up...you never know when you recommend a workout or something like that to a person, if they don' like it, you feel bad. I like Trim Down a lot too.

Hi to Josie & Valerie,

Stay warm!

Deb-I had the same problem with Collage last night. I went back on this morning and they are sold out of all the KCM and almost all Cathe dvds. I ordered "Great Glutes" and Jillian 6 pack abs. Great Glutes wasn't discounted much, but I got free shipping and I've been wanting to try one of Cathe's new workouts. I've never tried a Jillian workout before, but this one had good reviews and I've been wanting another ab workout.

I'm back. good trip. did some light hiking and some moderate mt biking. the first place we went was not a good campground but the only place. disappointing. still a nice water front area on salt water so we made the best of it. no one there, including no administrative people. the areas close to water weren't flat so we started uphill to the other campsites and as we were driving slowly, I saw a tree limb that seemed too low so I yelled STOP! wow. no warning. inside a campground you don't expect a hazard like that. we had to back up downhill and knocked a small cap off our roof. but we missed disaster! I usually don't drive the camper but I am so glad I was ( more or less) paying attention. if you're on an unmaintained road we know we need to be alert, but inside a campground??

so we spent the day doing small hikes, warm and sunny, lovely scenery, but ferried back to another island ( bridge accessible) and spend another day mt biking at our favorite place. the birds were everywhere an lovely. all getting summer plumage and so many!. it was lovely! we have a spotting scope so we can set up on a bluff and see all the ducks and seals fishing and courting. no luck with whales this trip.

My shin is a lot better . biking doesn't bother it at all so will stick to that for a while. I do not want a chronic problem!

I'm so sorry to hear that winter is continuing for all of you ( except you, Josie). it is so springy here, flowers blooming all over. we get our tiller back today and will get the vegie garden going this weekend.

I got the collage email also... I haven't ordered from them in a long time but it was a nice place to compare and get feedback.guess amazon puts a lot of small places under too much pricing pressure.

so funny how alike and different we all can be. I hated Lost. I watched several seasons of it and suddenly reached a point where I didn't care WHAT happened next, I was just done with it. I never finished it. I heard enough people complain about the ending so I'm glad I didn't waste any more energy on it.

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, Lori, and Judy--

This morning I did All Out Low Impact Hiit + Core 1 (49:22).

We did get a little bit of snow, but what's really icky is the wind today, coming out of the north and temps in the teens again.

Deb, I only went over to Collage briefly and quickly decided not to buy. Too many reported incidents over at VF of putting something in your shopping cart and then discovering it's already sold out. Like you, Lori, Collage really got me started on videos other than the Firm and Jane Fonda. I would pore over the catalog and try to decide what to buy next. I know I bought my earliest Cathe's from Collage--Step'n'Motion I think was my first. I guess I will have to shift entirely to Mary at Totalfitness.

Judy, we are all pulling for Echo. I would love a little miracle for her. I think you will like Great Glutes--lots of variety with standing, barre, and floor work (I skip the ball work because my ball just slides around too much.)

Stay warm everyone!

Good evening ladies,

This morning was ruthless tabata and tonight was hardstikes on the heavybag. Was easy to incorporate the bag with this workout. I skipped the conditioning drills. Felt I had had enough for the day!

We ended up with a couple of inches of snow but the driving this morning was tough. Very slippery and the wind was out of control. Coming home was fine as the storm had past at this point.

Valerie...welcome back! Good eye on the branch. Would have been a nightmare. Being away and all on top of the potential damage. Sounds like you have passed the curve with your leg. As much as I loved Lost I was one of those that was dissapointed with the ending. Thought it was just dumb and a let down. Some loved it though.

Garance...I have stayed away from Collage. I have enough workouts and don't want to be tempted. Sounds like everything is selling out anyways. Again very sad they are closing up.

Judy...I like great glutes too. It has been a while since I did this one. Sort of forgot about it. I'll try and fit it in soon. See another reason not to buy anymore workouts. I do not even remember what I own!

Deb...I have heard good things about trim down too. I like Kelly's style and personallity. Looking forward to your review on her two new ones.

Hi to Josie!
