Peeps Cracking the whip!!

Cathlete
Well today is the day Peeps, let's go!!!!

I got on the scale this morning and it screamed at me and I screamed at it!! Yikes, I have NO idea how those numbers got there. Anyway, I'm glad I did Kickmax yesterday. Well, actually I am sore as he** but At least I started.

Vilma- i had 2 glasses of water already in your honor (and to see if I could lose some water weight!!!) I am trying to start to drink as soon as I get up. (Water people, I meant drink WATER) before I have my coffee. I gottta say, it helped wake me up.

Phyllis- I'm not a kickbox fan either, but I wanted something a little less intense yesterday. Although, It doesn't feel that way today!!!

Jill- poor baby. I dread when my kids are sick. I hope DD feels better soon.

Heather- how are you this monday morning!!!

Wendy- how was Houdini last night???? Did you guys get any sleep??? Some of the stages they go thru are actually good developmental milestones but it sure doesn't feel like that when you are going thru it!!!

Conni- I have not read Jodi Picoult yet, but have friends who rave about her. Which ones do you recomend I start with. I read everyday and I would like to expand my horizons a little.

JJ- The game!!! Were the Eagles fans out of control??? I was dreading their win, because sometimes Philly goes a little overboard and gets wild around here. Stupid, I know. I hope you had fun though. What's on tap for w/o today???

Karin- did you say POOP???? Really. OMG why would someone do that???
I would like some book ideas (and decorating ones) from you too. I would love a book club. What's up next???

Peep Daddy- Good luck with the weights today. I know you will be feeling better and back on track very soon!! I've seen your progress with my own 2 eyes.

Dani- are you starting BFFM today??? Is that a whole program or just an eating plan??? help me out here girl. I have trouble keeping up. I couldn't check back last night because HOUSE was on for like 4 hours!!!!

Gayle- what are you doing today??? Lifting a car or a small bus??? She's really strong Peeps, she scares me!!! I hope the boys and you have fun returning to school.

Good Luck to all Peeps
Have a great day and Let's get going with these goals!!!!
We can do it

Good Monday Morning Peeps!

Ahhh back to some normalcy :D Fixed the kids breakfast and just got them up. Had to type up a letter to my DD's PE teacher to make sure he doesn't force her to run since she is still getting over her broncitis and continues w/ that cough late last night she had another choking spasm :( (he's notorius for not following her asthma care plan that's in place at her school)

Cardio is on tap for me this am and it will be an iTread- Grace can be tough, tough, tough. Looking forward to it though:p

Ellie Good for you on your 2 cups Yay!
I already had my 20oz and working on my 2nd 20oz as I sit here and post followed by my 16oz of tea lol- heck gotta get it in somewhere -right?
Having that water before anything else does help you get up & go - Glad you are finding that out :)

Peeps have a Great Monday & big Hellos to all who follow

Good morning, Peeps! I am amazed I woke up to my alarm. DD had a fever dream last night and was just so afraid. She slept with me for a little while and when she felt better she asked to go back to her bed. But when she was with me she was laying right up against me and holding my hand with both of hers. Poor thing...I hope she feels better today! I wish I could stay home with her, but someone's gotta work, right?

I'll be doing High Step Circuit this morning and although I'm a bit tired, I'm looking forward to getting moving.

Ellie - you are a hoot, woman! It's not the scale that screamed to me last weekend (although it did murmur it's disbelief), but the inches I have gained since I last measured at the beginning of August. I only gained 5 or 6 pounds...not too many, really, but to give you an idea of what it did to my body, I gained an inch in my bust (and a bunch more elsewhere). Ugh!

Vilma - I started out my morning with 2 cups of water as well! Between my morning water, the water I drink during working out, and my typical two cups of tea before going to work, I end up going to the bathroom a million times before lunch!

To everyone else, have a great day! It is back to work for me today and I think it will be a shocker after being off for a week and a half. Hopefully I'll find out this week how long my temp job will go for.

Hi fellow peeps!

Haven't gotten my H20 yet, I am at the office and am the one on the phone system at the moment, so if I drink water I will need to hit the restroom and that could get ugly...

Today was BSB and then I did the stability ball section from BG. I am getting my sorry behind in gear and kicking some butt this year. Who's with me?????

Ellie - I am not sure which you should start with, I have only read 19 Minutes and now this one. I think you could start anywhere with her and still get hooked.

Have a great day!

Hello peeps! Nice job with the water! I have a horrible time drinking enough. First, I don't enjoy plain water.I'm OK if I add some kind of flavoring to it or if it's a flavored type. Second, due to the nature of my job, I can't sip water throughout the day. No food or drink in the lab.Third, I don't have much of a thirst mechanism. Lastly, my plumbing is so short that I have to pee almost as soon as I take a drink! Put all those things together and that equals not enough agua. On the problem scale, this is a minor one so I don't stress about it.

I did the shoulder work form PUB and MM, followed by PLB standing work only. The finale was the calve work from LIS. I really HATE changing the plates on the BB for PLB. I wont use a BB for leg presses cause I'll end up falling.

I'll try to stop by later.:)

Have a good day!

UGH! Monday already? Where did our 12 day break go???? I can't believe we're back in school already!

BUT.....being the morning person that I am, I didn't have a problem getting out of bed at 4:45 when the alarm went off.

Today's workout was 1RM tests for bis and shoulders. I'm still sore from previous testing, but we love that, right??? I'm about 3/4 of the way done with the 1RM and should SHOULD be able to finish tomorrow with legs, back and tris.

Can I confess that I haven't done cardio in, like, 2 weeks. I fear that when I plug into my next session with Grace (iTread) that she'll have me licking the floor within the first 5 minutes! :)

HAPPY MONDAY, everybody!!!

LOVE the book discussions, by the way!

Gayle

Morning Peeps:

We had awesome seats at the Vikings/Eagles game yesterday. Only six rows up from the field right where the Vikings came out. It was cool to see the players up close and personal as well as American Idol Taylor Hicks who sang the anthem.

I start my 1 rep max testing today for upper body being my hip is preventing me from any cardio or lower body work.

Ellie~ There were 3 Eagles fans sitting near me and I was afraid for their safety:confused: J/K! There was some heckling from Vikings fans but for the most part, it was pretty respectable. BTW...you are a very brave woman for getting on the scale this morning. I'm not looking forward to it!

Vilma~ Have fun with Grace. I did iTread 9 (60 min) last Friday and that is when my hip issue happened. I was determined to get in over 6 miles, which I did, but paid dearly for it.

Jill~ Have fun with high step circuit. Hugs to DD...hope she feels better soon.

Conni~ I'll join you in kicking butt this year! Can't wait for STS:)

Phyllis~ I really hate all the plate changing too in PLB so I rarely do that one. I hear ya on drinking water..I try but end up spending too much time running to the bathroom. Hey, would that count as cardio?

Gayle~ I'll be joining you in the 1 rep max testing. I plan to start with the 5 star exercises and work down from there. Good luck!

Waves to Dani, Wendy, Karin, Heather, Jerry and any peeps I missed. Have a great day everyone:)

JJ

Good morning!!

Gym Style legs today for me...thanks Ellie for cracking the whip...I need it!!

JJ...glad you had fun at the game, your team needs a quarterback!!! For me, there is no place like home for a game...I learned this the hard way!

Gayle..you are amazing plowing right through these 1RM tests..you inspire me to get off my duff and get going again!!

Conni..I am more than ready to kick butt along with you!!

jill..sending good thoughts your way for DD, hope you can squeeze in your workout!

BBL later if I can handle the walk to the computer room after GS Legs!!

Peep Daddy Cool

Hi everyone. Well, here I am at work after 2 weeks off and I have no idea what I should be doing. I should have written a list before I left of what I was working on to refresh my memory. I guess that the vacation worked to forget things from here for a little while.

I think that I am slowly getting better, but this cold is hanging on. I kept up DH last night with all my sniffing and nose blowing. Poor guy . I was going to start back to working out today but with all this phelgm I'm reluctant to do to much. I think that I will just do some core work or yoga tonight and take it easy for the rest of the week. Maybe try some lifting, but not push too hard.

I am on the wagon as far as food goes. Here's what I plan on eating today.

coffee with creamer
oatmeal
ravioli with red sauce
cottage cheese
string cheese
vegetable soup
whole grain roll

Ellie - yes, poop! Can you believe it? My friend from book club said that she thinks her MIL is in the early stages of dementia. I can't believe how gross that is! As far as decorating ideas... I'm really not an expert but I do the best that I can. DH and I love blue, green, brown, and grey so most of what we have done is in that color range. Kind of boring but at least our walls aren't white anymore.

Vilma - I've had 8 oz of water already today. I am planning on at least 64 oz.

Jill - Is DD doing better? I hope so.

Conni - Kudos to you for doing BSB today. I have to confess that I got rid of that workout because I hated all the bicep work. I love the SB ab section of B&G. Maybe I will do that tonight.

Phyllis - I don't have a BB but I couldn't imagine using one for PLB. That would be so annoying to change your plates all the time. I always wondered how Cathe and crew did the leg presses with a BB without falling.

Gayle - Happy Monday to you too. I put the following books on hold at the library. "Omnivores Dilemma", "Friday Night Knitting Club", and "Unaccustomed Earth". Have you read any of these?

JJ - Sorry that your Vikings lost, but it sounds like you had a great time despite that. Hope your hip is healing well.

Hi to the rest of the peeps that stop by today.

Hey Peeps!!! HAPPY MONDAY!!!

I am feeing so excited today! I brought in all my shopping goodies (all healthy for the most part) and am starting a whole new 2009 Be Kind To My Body!!!

Breakfast so far consisted of 1 pkg high fiber oatmeal with Banana and 1 bottle 16.9 oz water! I also took my vitamins: 1 multi Complete, 1 Flaxseed Oil, Omega3 fish oil capsule, 2-Cinnamon capsules. Next meal at around 10am will be another package of oatmeal and an apple or pair.

In BFFM, you are supposed to eat 5-6 small meals every 2-3 hours... and this concept is all new to me so I will adjust it to fit my lifestyle... There are groups of foods that you should select from for each meal, so I'm not saying that you should eat whatever you want for those meals.. it is very thoroughly planned out... I just hope that I can manage to keep up with it while I am learning it...

AND, have DM planned for tonite! maybe some 1RM testing too...

Ellie: I feel asleep to House last night... I LOVE that show... I will watch it very chance I get even if I have just seen it recently... I have two other books on how to eat "anti-inflamitory foods" and "eating low cholesterol foods" so am also reviewing that... now if I could find one for getting rid of CRAMPS!!! LOL, I got on the scale and it creaked a bit, but still flashed better than I deserved given the 2 weeks off from EVERYTHING healthy that I have just had... at least I'm not starting back at square 1, and still down about 8 #'s since August '08 when I started working out to Cathe! :D

Vilma: Hope your DD's PE teacher heads your warning! that's gotta be tough! but hoping she will continue to improve! YEAH! back to normal for me too! I listened to an ITrain the other day and I just gotta say I can't get into any of them... not CC, not Itread, nothing... I don't know what it is, but it's annoying not inspiring to me.. oh well, not for everybody I guess :) glad you enjoy them though!

Jill: I'd be scared too after the day she had yesterday! hope those antibiotics or whatever they gave you (prices outrageous I thought - yeah, stick it to the sick people!) Glad the Dr and Rx was willing to work with you over it! Good luck on the getting to extend the temp job! I'm sending happy thoughts your way! BTW... I LOVE HSCircuit (ordered HS Training yesterday, too) ~ funny because I loathe regular step workouts though...

sorry this took so long but will have to finish personals later :)

have a great day!

Conni: We are ALL with ya! good workout for you today!!!

Guten Morgen, Peeps!

I got my workout last night thanks to Nanny Jo and playing an hour long version of "Escort Houdini back to bed 24 times within an hour" LOL! Here's how it went down: DH and I tucked Houdini in, she was happy, even told us "BYE!" with a smile as we shut the door. As soon as we did, the SCREAMING and SOBBING ensued. Then she ran to the door, opened it, ran straight to DH and screamed "DADDY!" and we repeated the pattern. DH did give in, held her for 20 minutes (Nanny jo would NOT be happy!) and then put her back down, shut the door, repeat screaming pattern...the next time I came and sat with her in her room, but after 1/2 hour she began chatting to me, so I left but left the door open. She ran back out and I escorted her back, leaving the door open...and she stayed!!! She talked to herself and went to sleep. So it did work.

Now, of course, I have never let her sleep with her door open so I worried...and listened...and had a rousing case of insomnia, hence no workout this morning. Hopefully I will get one in tomorrow!

So the plan going forward is to stick with Nanny Jo BUT put childproof door locks on the office, the guest bathroom, the garage door and the backyard door so just in case she takes a detour through the house, she can't get out. But DH and I, after discussion, decided the gates wouldn't work because A) If she can climb out of her crib on the lowest level, she can easily scale a gate and B) Doing a double gate would result in two cats yowling at her door and nobody sleeping.

So wish us luck with Nanny Jo, okay?????

Ellie--You've got us off to a terrific start this morning! Great attitude, thank you!

Vilma--You are the Water Drinking Goddess. I bow to you! :)

Jill--I was so sorry to hear about your sticker shock on the medications for DD!!! I was in the same boat a few weeks ago with my meds and Houdini's eczema cream and a $155 bill....Craziness! Glad you all came up with a more reasonable solution, but so sorry you had to be there in the first place. Fingers crossed your temp job is lasting--if you still want it, that is!

Phyllis--Your description of your plumbing is hysterical!!! :)

JJ--You need a new coach? At least you aren't stuck with Wade Phillips!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's so cool you got to go to the game, though.

Jerry--Good luck with Gym Styles today and may your legs turn to Jell-o--in a good way!!

Karin--Nice menu planning today! Got your seven in for sure. Here's mine:

Oatmeal with flax and Dried Cranberries
Red leaf lettuce with roasted pears, roasted red grapes, blue cheese and walnuts tossed with balsamic-olive oil dressing, Greek Yogurt with Buckwheat Honey
A couple of squares of Dark Chocolate with Sea Salt
Apple and peanut butter
Lara Bar Or Kashi shredded wheats
Whole Wheat Rotini pasta with ground turkey, tomato sauce and dark wheat roll, milk

I will post my one-pan Rotini Pasta and Sauce recipe during lunch today. Basically, you brown ground beef/turkey in a pan, drain, add spices, water, tomato sauce, add whole wheat rotini, and in 10 minutes you have a pasta dinner made all in one pan! Ellie--This is SUPER EASY and kid friendly!! You can do it!

Dani--You are off to an incredible start today, both food and attitude wise!!! AWESOME!! You are so going to have a good healthy 2009!!! I'm very proud of you. Oh! You asked me about the circuit DVD--I've got two right now so I'm good. (I know my friend Christine PM'd you about it so if you want to give it to her, you can!) But thank you so much for offering!!

ANYONE WATCHING THE BACHELOR TONIGHT??????????????? Come on, somebody has to watch some smutt wtih me!!!

PS--AM DVRing Oprah this week to change my life. Today she talks about her weight. Will be interesting to hear what she has to say....

PPSS DANI--Yes, I figured out how to DVR all by myself!!! And since it popped up with a check mark, I think I did it right!!!

BBL!
:) Wendy

Wendy - wow, what a night you and DH had. It sounds like it worked in the end though. Good luck with your Nanny Jo techniques. I am DVRing The Bachelor tonight, but I don't know if I will watch it or not. DH HATES that show so I can't watch it if he is anywhere near the TV. He just doesn't know quality TV when he sees it :p

HA!! My DH HATES that show, too!! Like you, don't know when I'll watch it. But I will because this is my trainwreck TV show--I can't look away, even if I should! HA!

Karin-I haven't read any of those books (yet?). I LOVE books, can ya tell?

Wendy-I'd call all that escorting DD back to her room as a workout! LOL Great job.....JUST KEEP AT IT! Be consistant.....Nanny Jo will not lead you in the wrong direction!

Gayle

Seriously Peeps, should I be THIS sore today from Kickmax yesterday???? I am having a hard time even lifting my arms. Did I do it wrong, or did I do it right???? I'm not usually this sore after an UB weight day. What's up with that?

Karin-I have never seen The Bachelor but in honor of my PEEPS I will give it a try tonight. Is the guy cute????

Wendy- where in the world did you learn how to eat like this???? I have to look up 1/2 of the things you are talking about. PLEASE box up todays menu and send it along to me!!!!! I'll pay you!!! (NOTE: THIS IS NOT a commercial posting, just a joke between 2 friends Ha ha) But seriously, keep these ideas coming. I LOVE it. But what's the sea salt??? Is that saltier than salt???

Peeps Check-in

Peeps:

Happy Monday! I enjoyed my beloved Rhythmic Step Sunday morning with no pain in my feet or knees! I have already accomplished one of my goals for the year. Pain in my feet and knees last year forced me to take a break from step workouts (or modify them and not use a step). My goal was to lose enough weight or strengthen my legs enough to enjoy my favorite step workouts again. I did not need to lose a pound! Detoxing from MSG worked wonders! Rhythmic Step is one of my happy workouts. After my quiet time, I danced around the step and smiled with every mambo, cha cha, spin, and turn. What a delightful workout! My weight is holding steady as of Sunday morning, but I feel amazing (which is way more important than a number on the scale)!

I started my one-rep max tests yesterday with chest and back. I am stronger than I imagined. I am in line with the Cathe Nation average for most exercises and above average for a few. I need to retest the straight arm flyes prone on an incline bench. My one-rep max for that one is way lower than the other back exercises and way lower than what I know I can handle for similar exercises. It felt more like a shoulder exercise the way I did it.

I was up until midnight steaming a batch of brown rice and packing my meals and snacks for today. One of my goals for 2009 is to bless my body with 7-8 hours of sleep a night, so I am saving Leaner Legs and a segment of Ab Hits for tonight.

Ellie, thank you for cracking the whip and making me smile on this cold and rainy Monday!

Vilma, I hope you enjoyed your cardio workout this morning.

Jill, I am praying for your daughter. I hope she feels better soon.

Conni, I am with you. Let’s kick some butt!

Phyllis, I wish I had a second barbell for Pyramid Lower Body or a personal trainer to change the plates for me! I substitute dumbbells for the medium weight.

Gayle, have you tested straight arm flyes prone on an incline bench? If so, please explain that exercise to me. It feels like a shoulder exercise.

JJ, I am glad you had a good time at the game.

Jerry, I love Gym Style Legs. Did you start your new way of eating today?

Karin, your food sounds good. I enjoyed steel-cut oatmeal for breakfast with a tablespoon of natural peanut butter, a tablespoon of raw honey, and a banana. I am eating white corn tortillas for lunch with organic pinto beans, steamed brown rice, lettuce, and Hell on the Red, and an organic Granny Smith apple for dessert. I packed a peanut butter Larabar for my afternoon snack. Dinner will be whole wheat angel hair pasta with organic pasta sauce, an Italian romaine salad with fresh mozzarella and raspberry vinaigrette dressing, and organic mixed berries for dessert.

Dani, I am treating my body with respect in 2009. It sounds like the Peeps are on an oatmeal kick today.

Wendy, I am praying for you and your little escape artist!

Blessings,
Heather B.

"So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God" (1 Corinthians 10:31 NIV).

Heather- YOU GO GIRL!!!!!
I love RS and find it quite difficult. Kudos to you. And i am soooo happy to hear such enthusiam and happiness in your voice!!!! (well letters) but you know what I mean!!! :D:D:D:D:D:D
Have a wonderful day!!!
ellie

Just finished GS Legs...forgot about the slow lunges toward the end...major case of the wobbles going on here....all good though, felt good to be challenged again.

Ellie...where are you hurting upper body wise?? If it's a joint issue, you may be extending your punches too much, it's easy to do, very important to stop a little before full extension. If it's an all over ache, it may just be from muscles you may not have used in a while...it doesn't take a whole lot of time off for things to hurt once we get started back!

Jerry
No joint pain, just everything from my traps to my lats!!!! It's definately muscle pain, I guess I was just a little too big for my britches there huh?

Seriously, my whole upper back is tight and sore. :(:(
That'll teach me to not take so much time off!!!
