No sweets - May 20-26

Ladies we're almost done with May. How have you been so far? I couldn't do a weigh-in today because my scale needs a new battery which I'm going to get during the week. Oh well.

Today I did P.Circuit (cardio & back) + Kickbox (biceps, abs, and stretch). It is officially my last day of CTX. I'm going to do yoga tomorrow, rest on Tuesday, and I'll start with GS on Wednesday, or Thursday. My diet has been good considering I had guests today and tons of temptations around me. By the way, the cake was a hit, I still have some left but it's a small amount because everybody wanted to take a piece with them and I of course didn't want more temptations around me so that worked out fine.

I hope you all have an awesome week.

Hey Rose, can ya ship a peice of that cake up here ;)
You have done great this month!! It'll be interesting to see what happens when you shake it up with the GSs.

This month has been an up and down one as far as eating goes for me. This weekk was good. I did fudge a little yesterday with a pepsi and a small bowl of ice cream. Today the worst I had was a sugary cereal. I don't get on the scales much, but say my wt is the same. Clothes still all fit the same.

have a good evening

Hello everybody, today I did yoga first thing in the morning to get it over with. I can't wait for my rest day tomorrow. My diet has been okay so far. I took whatever cake I had left to work so I don't have to worry about it being in the fridge waiting for me. ;-)

Catherine, I don't know if a cake would make it up there in good condition. If I figure out a way to do it then I'll gladly do it in the future. Maybe if I skip the glaze and tell you how to add it later. We'll see. But it's going to be awhile until I try one of those again. Way too many calories. :p

Affirm! Where are ya woman?!!!

Hey Rose!! Smart move to take that cake to work. That's what I'd do.

Well I had Chicken Marsala at lunch today and it was so good. But man you could taste the butter. So I guess today was not so clean in that respect. But I've had no sweets!!

So Rose after rest tomorrow you start the GS rotation??? Which one will you be doing?

Hey Affirm, I know you are busy and I hope you are doing OK!!

Today was upper body for me details:
Bench 60# 1 set of 7 (DH was not here to help) 55# 2 sets of 9
Pec Flies 15# 1 set of 8 17.5# 2 sets of 8 (my chest was really feeling it today!!)
Millitary Press 50# 4 sets of 6 (no change)
DB Rows 40# 3 sets of 8 (was 4 sets of 6) (that 40# DB felt lighter today LOL- NOT LIGHT but lighter ;) )
Rear Flies 15# 3 sets of 8
Skull Crushers 15# 4 sets of 6 (I think that's the same)
Concentration Curls 22.5 1 set of 7 and 3 sets of 6 (don't remember what I did last time?)

I seem to be making slow progress with most moves and my upper body is really starting to show some definition. I will take a 1-2 week break from the heavy lifting in a couple of weeks and do circuits or lighter wt workouts and then go back and see what happens.

OK now if I could be so persistent with my lower body workouts :p

Hello Ladies. Clean eating except for a jolly rancher after lunch. I need to get some peppermints. I just have to have a refresher kind of thing after eating lunch. I hope to get back to my 5 day week minimum workout once I get out for the summer (3 more weeks). Meanwhile, if I can get in a couple of days and eat well...I am will myself some praise for that.

I am so glad that you ladies are doing well.

We are going to pick out our golden retriever this weekend. We should be able to bring him home in a few more weeks. Just one more thing to add to my busy life. We are all excited though.

Hey ladies. Today was my rest day, but I didn't rest at all, and my diet has been awful because I'm sleep deprived and I start craving all sorts of crappy foods because my energy levels are low. I've been very busy and I didn't sleep well last night so I'm going to try my hardest to exercise tomorrow, but if I feel tired then I'll skip my workout and start again on Thursday. I'm definitely doing GS, but I haven't seen a rotation that has what I want (that is to exercise my bodyparts twice a week) so I'll do something on my own and see. Since the GS's are longer I waited until this week to do them again. I finish school tomorrow so I no longer have to worry about fitting a workout around my school and work schedules until the fall. I'll have to fit a workout around my work schedule only which is much easier so I think I can start with my longer workouts again. My plan is to do a GS, 30 min cardio, and some abs (I'll do abs about 4 times a week). The days I do GS legs I'll skip cardio, and I'll also have one rest or yoga day a week (whatever I feel like it that day).

Catherine I love dark chocolate and if it's Dove or Hershey's special dark I'm all over it. It's good for us, but we have to eat it in moderation.

Affirm, so glad you're posting. Don't worry, three weeks go by pretty quickly. Oh! and I love goldens. Goldens and labs are my favorite dogs. In fact, I had to "rescue" my neighbor's black lab today because he knows how to open the garage door to get out and he did it again. When I got here I saw my neighbor's garage door open and I knew the dog escaped so I started looking for him all over my neighborhood and I found him playing at the park. I yelled his name, he immediately recognized me, and put his two front paws in my car's door and started licking me. I said jump in the car and he got in. Then I took him back to my neighbor's house closed the garage door and the dog was so happy he was back home. lol! Talk about an obedient dog. My neighbor works late shifts so when the dog does that he's rarely there to find him, but I love that dog as if it were mine so I searched for him all over and the dog was so glad when I picked him up! :)

Rose, what a sweet story about your neighbors golden!! Maybe you've said before, but what are you studying in school?? I admire you-work school and still working out. Are you planning to do the full GS twice a week? If so I bow down to you!!! And still get in cardio whew!!

I have been good today except again I had one dove dark chocolate. I had two sitting on my desk and I wanted them both but said NO!! How's that :D

I did S&H legs and chinups today. I did sets of 5,5,4,& 4 on the chinups. This was the first time I was able to pull out two sets of 5!! So I am excited!! I matched Cathe on wt with GS except for the first set of lunges where she is at 50# I was at 40. but on the second set where she drops to 40# I increased to 45#. So I guess it kind of evened out LOL.

Catherine, I went back to school to finish a degree in Mathematics. I already have one in Computer Science. Anywho, so I graduate again (June 10th) now from Mathematics and I'm in the top 10% of my class!!!! Today I had my last final and I thought I was going to jump all over campus, but with all these sleepless nights, I just couldn't find the energy, which means I definitely didn't exercise today. I've been going part-time to school and working full time for a couple of years now. But those two and finding time for exercising are my three priorities. My friends and my family know that so they respect my time. I wish I had more time to see them though, but with my schedule I only get to see them about two weekends a month. I'm starting grad school in the fall, but I was already taking a couple of grad courses to prepare myself mentally so I know pretty much how to balance my three priorities. Now if I meet a good guy I'll be set. I ended a 10 year relationship (he was cheating) about a year and a half ago and I've been focusing on my health, school, and career. I hate to say it, but the fact that I went through that horrible thing was a blessing. I never knew I had that much potential. I lost tons of weight, went back to school, and got a second degree in a subject I never knew I was good at. God works in mysterious ways.

By the way (lol!) my diet has been soooooo bad! *Hangs head in shame* I've fallen off the wagon for a couple of days, but I'll definitely get back on track tomorrow.

Rose, you pick that head back up. Puulease, you have accomplished so much!! A few days here and there do not make or break you. You know that. I know what you mean about sleeping or lack there of. I go through spells and am having one now. I didn't think I was gonna be able to workout tonight. Can you say caffeine is a wonderful thing? I am sure that I won't think that later, when I can not sleep. Thanks for sharing the info on your life- I enjoyed reading. Didn't know I was checking in with a brainiac though ;)

Still eating clean, so far. Of course I had 1 dove dark choc today-getting my antioxidants ;)

I did upper body tonight. I only increased the wt on bench press(DH spotting me) and I did 65# 2 sets of 8 and 1 set of 7. Just couldn't get it up on that last rep DB row 40# 3 sets of 8 Millitary press 50# 4 sets of 6, skull crushers 15# 4 sets of 6, concentration curls 22.5 # 4 sets of 6 and pec flies 17.5# 3 sets of 8-my chest was flaming! I think I will stick with these wts for a few more times and then try to up where I can.

I want to be all buff for Cathe in Aug :D :D :D

Today I did better with my diet, it wasn't 100% clean, but it was definitely better than these past few days.

Wow and I finally got to start GS. I did 30 mins of cardio + BSB + abs. Yowza! I forgot how tough GS is.

I would like to be buff for the Bon Jovi concert, but it's on June 8th so that's wishful thinking on my part. :7

A long weekend is right around the corner. I think I'm going to take advantage of memorial day sales and buy some clothes and maybe (gasp!!!) a swimsuit. I hope I find things I like.

Catherine, wow! I'm always amazed at your upper body strength. :)

The last two times Sting came here the concerts were awesome. He didn't come with the Police though, I can imagine that is going to be one heck of a concert.

Cardio and BSB is tough, but not as tough if the cardio is stationary bike :7 (at least is something).

Today I did a short cardio followed by GS Legs. I had to increase the weight on all my exercises so I was lifting heavier than Cathe. Woo hoo! I guess I can still use these DVDs even as I'm getting stronger. Something really disappointing happened though, while I was doing vertical outer thigh presses my dynaband broke in half!!! Wth?! Tomorrow I'm going to the mall and I better find a dynaband somewhere. I just don't know how I would substitute the band exercises in GS if I can't find a band soon enough. I'll probably end up doing them with weights also, which defeats the purpose of doing them with a dynaband in the first place. Oh well. My diet has been okay, but yesterday I ate too much of everything (my portions were bigger and I ate too many calories). I'll blame that on TTOM and move on. I hope you're having a great weekend so far.

Hey Rose- WTG on going heavier than Cathe on GSL!!!! I am impressed. I am sorry to hear about your dynaband- you shouldn't be so strong;) I hope you find one soon to continue your w/o.

I switched things up and did IMAX2 today instead of B&Gs - will do that tomorrow. Talk about procrastination LOL!! I had a cheat lunch today- McDonalds cheeseburger, fries and coke. Of course I was miserable afterwards x( When will I learn???

Fitfairy, you must be one strong lady ---I can't even imagine doing chin ups.

Rose, thanks for sharing the story about your neighbors dog. One of my co-workers has 2 retrievers and 1 has 2 labs and they both have great stories to always share. I hope our puppy will be a smart dog too. Today was "puppy pick out" day for us. We were first on the list for a male. There were only 3 males, so I was glad that we had the first pick. We visited this morning and picked a puppy that will be red golden retriever. We should be ready to bring him home in about 3 more weeks. We haven't decided on a name yet.

I sure hope these weeks go by fast and I get more workouts in. I am trying to pay more attention to my eating. However, it a holiday weekend!! YIKES!! Enjoy your Memorial Day ladies.

Affirm, P90X is what got me doing chinups. It took me about three months to be able to do 1. And I am slowly trying to increase my numbers. They are hard, but doable if you're willing to commit to doing them. They are an excellent upper body exercise!! If only I could get my lower body to do what I want it LOL!!

I bet you can not wait to get your puppy!!! Will he be an indoor or outdoor doggie??

We plan for our retriever to be in "indoor" doggie. Yes, we can't wait! This will be new for us, so we hope to be able to crate train with success.
