Lurker Invitations Feb. Check-In

janiejoey

Cathlete
Good Evening,

Just wanted to start this check-In and will be back later for personals. Any Lurkers out there are very welcome to join.

Laura, DOMS are something else aren't they? What did you do today, 4DS Boot camp or double cardio premix or upper body core? Any are very challenging. Glad you and Shadowpup figured out the signature thing.

Shadowpup, I need more active rest days. Like yoga or even Reach. Don't have enough energy yet to do that, but I'm working on it. Are you having a great time at home? I bet you are. I also think the STS will come when you leave. Anyway, that's what would happen to me if I were leaving. LOL! Can't wait to see pictures of the hills. I bet they are steep. I'm still scared of kettlebells, I don't know why. I've never did them before, yet. I admire your kettlebell workouts. Enjoy your upper and lower body workouts. They are not easy. I still love Ilaria workouts, but only have one that I can speak of. I just can't justify purchasing anymore workouts for awhile. I'm notorious for that. Darn. Thank you for the compliment, that was sweet. I'm amazed you did the BodyStrikes as well. WOW!

To everyone who follows, can't believe how fast Jan. went. Here we are in Feb. already. How did that happen? See ya later OK?

Good Morning,

Today will be a rest day. My SIL and his beautiful pregnant wife Miros will be here around noon. Can't wait to see them!

Patricia, if you are here, I just wanted to welcome you aboard. Tomorrow everyone will be excited to meet you when they get back from the weekend.

I'll be checking in every so often so I don't miss you.

Hi Janie,
Ha, caught me lurking again  Today I did High Step Circuit, I now remember why Cathe didn't have it in the beginner workout rotation, it is tough!
but doable!! I am doing the Herbalife weight loss challenge that they are running here in my town and today is weigh in day, I know I did good this week, some workouts my calorie burn was 600 plus, wow eee, looking forward to meeting every one else. Thanks Janie for inviting me.

Hi, Michelle here. I'm fairly new to the Cathe Nation. Started working out with Cathe last March and joined the Cathe Nation in the fall. I've been exercising pretty much my whole life, but Cathe has really helped me to kick it up quite a few notches. I thought I was in good shape until I made the switch last year. Ha! What a wake-up call that was. But, now almost a year later and I'm enjoying the challenge of Cathes advanced workouts.

This week is Cross-train express week for me. I did all 6 days of cross-train express for the first time at the beginning of January. Thought it would be good to dedicate the first week of February to cross-train express as well. Today, I did Power Circuit. I like the way that Cathe mixes lo impact, hi impact, step and kick box on this routine, and the plank section is a killer. I'll definitely be rehydrating all afternoon.

By the way, it's gorgeous here in Virginia today. My golden and I just came in from outside--it's about 66 degrees--wish the whole month of February could be like today.

I'm looking forward to getting to know the "check-in" crew.
Michelle

Good Afternoon everyone,

Michelle, I've made a lot of progress using Cathe's workouts too. I use to weigh 171 pounds and went down to 125 pounds. I recently had some surgery and it took almost 6 months to be able to exercise full time again. I gained a lot of pounds back. Doing Cathe's workouts again full time I've lost some. Love the CTX, it's a challenge. My Joey (hubby) and I will start the STS Either Tuesday or when Cathe starts, not sure yet. With this series I'm expecting to get back to my 125 pounds again in no time at all. 66 degrees, I bet it was a beautiful walk/jog for you today.

Patricia, High Step circuit is a toughy. I still have to modify in that one. 600 burned calories! Holy Moly, that's great. What is Herbalife? I'm assuming herbs, but sure there is more to it than that.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend, and so glad you both joined us. Looking forward to knowing you.;)

Hey, this is great! More lurkers are emerging!

Patricia, Michelle, welcome! Janie got us all to unLurk last month, and it has been a blast.

Patricia, it's interesting to hear about high step. I was thinking about that one, and decided it should wait awhile, since I have so many step dvds that I'm still learning (and no high step). But it does sound very good, and very intense!

Michelle, I hear you on "thinking you're in shape"! Those 1RMs taught me something. I have clearly been sandbagging, because no way was I lifting anywhere near even m 70% level. CardioCoach too - I wasn't pushing myself nearly as hard as I thought. What are you doing to make sure you don't end up overtraining? That's something that's been on my mind - seems like better use of rest in between harder work is what I'll need, and maybe you're in a similar position? So far, I love what I've tried in CTX, but haven't done all of the workouts in a row. Leaner Legs has become my go-to lower body (and BodyMax2 's double upper is my new favorite upper body workout, except when I have two days to spend on Gym Style).

Janie, that second post of yours in Open was a terrific idea. You will have the lurkers emerging left and right! You are right - it's been wonderful to be home for so many days, and I am spoiled. Speaking of spoiled ... I'm going through my dvd collection to see what will work well with STS, and where I have holes. Probably I "need" another bosu that's more intense than what I have; another martial arts instructor who does something more like a black belt teaching a kata - like Ilaria's BodyStrike or PowerStrike5, only more so if possible; and possibly another one or two like Reach for lighter days (I'm looking at Attitude/Bernadette Giorgi and Rezabek's Pure Bar). Thank goodness I preordered STS so that came out of what I'd allotted to spend on workout dvds last year. At that, though, it will be a bit before I feel comfortable buying more dvds, having gone a little crazy over the holidays, what with kettlebells and bosu and all

Janie, I do think you'd enjoy kettlebells tho I am not sure how much of them we can do during STS ...

Did everyone see that the STS cardio guidelines are posted, by the way? Cathe did it so we would know what to use. There are two posts showing both abs and cardio.:eek::eek: is all I have to say after reading them.

I did end up posting a few pics, but they don't do full justice to the hills. Need to take more that show the whole up and down part. Perhaps after I get back ... and, my apologies in advance for what's likely to be sparse posting for awhile. I have three trips starting Monday, one week after another. Conferences and such. I will be home on weekends and often one other day, but that's it. This coming one is close enough that my kettlebell is coming, but it's not going on the plane:rolleyes:

Hi to everyone else - and I'll check in at least once more before I go.

Hello Everyone!! Glad to see we keep growing.

Janie thanks for posting another invitation on the open panel & keeping this check-in going & growing! It was great to hear about your weight loss story, that is about the same journey I am trying to do and was excited to hear that Cathe was a big part of your success. Hope you enjoy your rest day.

Shadowpup thanks for the link for Kari Anderson, yesterday would have been the perfect day for something like that! I will definitely have to add her to my collection.

Michelle I hear you on thinking you are in shape until you meet Cathe. I had the exact same experience with my 1st DVD of hers which was Butts & Gutts. I was like are you insane!!???!! :p:p:pBut then I was I wanted to be able to hang with her and her crew!:)

Patricia I can relate on getting caught lurking, it is actually a hard habit to break at first, but than it is so easy and I find myself eager to come check in after a workout. I guess it helps with accountability and motivates me when I am feeling sluggish.

So yesterday was hilarious, I had some of the worst DOMS in hamstrings & glutes. I think every other word out of my mouth was OWWWW! I am very flexible and I could hardly bend down to pick something off of the floor. :pStill sore today actually but not so bad.

So yesterday I ended up just doing:
Heavy Bicep & Tricep from 4DS Bootcamp
Heavy Shoulders & core & stretch from 4DS LIS

Today I was going to take my girls skiing, DH is very sick with some sort of flu, and it just didn't work out. Ended up doing laundry and straightening the house. I keep trying to motivate myself to go for a snowshoe, but can't seem to get out the door.......

It's been busy today. Love it!

Laura, I can't wait finishing losing my weight through STS. I think that should take care of it for sure. DOMS get me that way sometimes too. It is funny, I move like a pregnant woman when I have them.:D Great workout. I love snow showing, and this year since we had snow for 2 weeks, it was a blast! Just put them on and right outside my door was SNOW, no traveling to the mountains this year. It was fun.

Shadowpup, You know, as soon as STS is done, I'll do a kettlebell workout. I do have two DVD's, I'll be brave because of you. I hope your travels are safe and productive. We'll look forward to whenever you can join us. I'll look for you on the weekends.

Have great workouts everyone,

Janie

Good Evening All!
No workout today :( had planned SM and Core. Butts and Guts yesterday :) some DOMS today :D
DD and I did sushi and a movie yesterday.... Bride Wars.... very cute! Had a blast! Will be hard to see her leave again! She will be screening for the Marine Corps counter Intelligence course in Norfolk before she goes back to Gitmo at the end of this month. She is an Interrigation Specialist/Anylist/Strike (that's aiming the patriot missiles) and I am so very proud of her. She was Honor Grad from Strike School!

But, I do go on! Anyway if you are ever in Sugar Land TX and you like Sushi you must go to Japaneiros and eat! So fresh and the service is excellent! They also serve latin food if you like that!

I think I have HST on tap for tomorrow....will have to check my calendar hehe! STS should be here Tuesday but I have not done 1RM yet so I am not planning to start til March! :( :D
Glad to see everyone is doing so well! Thanks Janie for getting us started!

Good evening Everyone,

I just finished Ripped 1000. It was ok. It was my first time doing it so i wasn't sure what to expect. I still got in an ok workout and at least i tried something new. I'm sure i will like it better the next time i do it.

Michelle: Welcome and nice to meet you! I look forward to getting to know you.

Patricia: I saw you were on the check-in for us gals from Ontario as well. You will have lots of encouragement, inspiration, and support from both groups.

Ironlady: sounds like you enjoyed your rest day and had a nice time with your DD. Sound like you raised a very smart and hardworking girl. You should be very proud.

Janie: I hope you enjoyed your rest day. Thanks for getting the new month started for us!

Laura: Good job on your weekend workouts!

Shadowpup: Travel safely and we'll see you when you get back.

See you all next time

Hello fellow lurkers,
I have been a loooooong time lurker and occasional poster and am excited to join this check-in. Today I started the Chalean extreme program and I must say I had a large slice of humble pie!! It has been a couple of months since my last workout (sounds like being in a confessional at church!). Father, it has been roughly 3 months since my last workout haha :) I ordered this program back in early December and got it well before christmas, put the package on the treadmill and let it collect dust! I did it for the first time today and must say that I had a large slice of humble pie! I am sure that when STS arrives I will not be able to do it, I am that much out of shape. I was huffing and puffing, it seemed there was just not enough oxygen. I feel humiliated and discouraged but know that today was the first step to getting myself back. For a while I was so into my KB's and now the only time those KB's come in handy are when I make myself a panini sandwich.

I envy you gals in the snow! Would you believe i have never seen falling snow. I am in San Diego and have gone out to Big Bear to see snow but never experienced falling snow! I am sure those who are having the national guard dig them out of snow must think I am insane.

Thank you Janie for this check-in and looking forward to checking in regularly and getting to know some of you ladies better!
Booboo

Hi All!

Welcome all you newbie lurkers and nice to meet you too Tracy Lynn!! :D

Yesterday I did my gym workout which includes back, tricep and what I call my physio leg workout that includes weighted adductor and abductor exercises plus the leg extension machine with feet turned out to stress more of the vastus medialis muscle. Then today I did my own mish mosh with Amy Bento's Advanced Step Challenge 3 and in between each combo did one BodyMax 2 powercircuits (just cardio section) and one LowMax leg blast. Then did yoga stretches afterwards. I burned this workout onto a dvd and it's awesome. What a sweat fest!! Still can't do the whole dvd I mixed but it's something to work towards.:p Instead of starting STS this week I'm going to use this week to continue with 1RM testing. Then hopefully start next Monday. I kinda hope I'll be starting when Cathe starts.

Janie: Thanks for starting this new thread. And I'm so glad you sorted out your STS. I hope you get it on Monday. I can't wait to hear!

Shadowpup: Safe travels. Your one powerful lady!

Ladubose: Thanks for the suggestion. I know that Pilates is very therapeutic like yoga. Maybe one of these days I'll pay for a lesson on the equipment.

Elle: That's awesome that you can control your cravings like that. And that's smart that you use smaller portion type chocolate/desserts. I have an awful dessert tooth. And the only way I can control my urges, (obsession, addiction:confused:) is to keep it out of my home completely and to have no sweets during the week and to only treat myself on the weekends and it has to be something that is only one or two servings if I'm bringing it home so that once I eat it there's no more in my home so I can start a clean week. That's the only way it works for me. I have come to the conclusion that it's a food obsession or addiction. And that's the only way I can have discipline over it. I can't keep anything stocked in my home. Or I will just keep eating it everyday until it's finished. WhaaaaaH!!

Have an awesome day tomorrow ya'll!!

Just wanted to look one more time to see who was here.

Twinkletoes, The UPS says I will get the STS Series tomorrow. I will view some of it, and if there is time, perhaps do the first of many exercises. I'm hoping to do it with Cathe though. My Joey will be doing it with me. Wow, you do a lot of exercises. You go girl! How much weight can you lift, are you about or can you lift heavier than Cathe?

Booboo, WELCOME ABOARD! I'm sure you are no mistake, and I do like the unique name of Booboo. I've heard a lot of great things about the Chalean Extreme workout. Let us know as you progress, how you are doing with it. Love your analogy of the confessional booth compared to your last workout.LOL:D That was funny.;) It sounds like you did a great job on your exercises. I'm proud of you, and please, try not to be discouraged. You should have seen me starting out again, and I'm still not where I want to be yet. But, after the STS series, I'm sure I will be. Never seen it snow before? Wow. Wish I could do something about that for you. It is truly a site to watch. You need to go to the mountains when it is snowing. It will be worth that. Looking forward to getting to know you too.

Elle, I think when it comes to Jerry Love, you either love her or hate her. I use her DVD's every now and again, she is great when I need endurance training.

IronLady, So glad you are building up memories with your daughter. You have every right to be proud of your daughter. Please thank her for me that she is protecting my way of life. Because of her and others like her, I love where I live and really appreciate the sacrifices they make for us. Please give her a hug from me. If I'm ever in Sugar Land TX, not only will I try Japaneiros, but lets eat there together. I love Sushi!:p

I'm going to bed now, so good night, sleep tight and don't let the bed bugs bite.

Janie- I hope u got your STS today! EXCITING!!!!

Twinks- you are so knowledgable on muscle names!

BooBoo- Nice to meet you! Welcome to the Lurkers Group!

Elle- I have ripped 1000. Jari kinda goes crazy with the stretching in that one. I always just skip to the next section rather than stretch after every section.

IronLady- Nice to meet you! Are u from TX?]

laura- DOMS RULES!! Awesome job on the w/o.

Welcome all other nUbE's!

Hi everyone!!!
I kinda disappeared...had a horrible month!!! Started off with my son getting sick(will be 2 in march) throwing up fever etc went on for about two weeks he had some virus... Went to Disney for my birthday(only good thing :) ) we had a great time!! But when we got home back to doctors Tyler had a double ear infection!! Then my mom called me on Saturday the 24th and told me one of my favorite uncles passed away!! So I had to fly to pittsburgh for the funeral. He was only 56!! He had a cancerous brain tumor. They operated once and thought it was gone but it came back..Had trouble getting flights everyone was coming to Tampa for the superbowl.
Anyway hope February is a better month!!! Can't wait to start STS!!
Tracy

Happy Monday to everyone. I'm a morning exercise person, and totally forgot about checking in this morning. Keeping with the cross-train express week; today was 10-10-10. Not one of my more graceful experiences, I'm struggling a bit with the mambas on the step during the step routine, but with a little practice, I'll get it eventually. I also woke up at 3:30 am and didn't get back to sleep until after 4:30 so I think that threw me off a little this morning as well.

IronLady: you have a daughter in the Marine Corps? Fantastic! It sounds like she is an 02XX-intell Marine. Is that correct? I work quite a bit with the Marines at Headquarters Marine Corps Manpower and Reserve Affairs in Quantico. They are a constant source of inspiration to me--particularly when it comes to fitness.

Overtraining: how do you know when you've done too much? Great question. My general rule of thumb is to listen to my body. I hate taking a break from exercise, but there are days when I know I'll be pushing that injury line if I don't lay off. I like the cross train express dvd because it focuses on one upper body part at a time. That way I know that I'm really giving the others a true rest.

~michelle

Good Afternoon,

Michelle, I love 10.10.10! I'm not a morning person. I stay up at all hours of the night. Usually get up around 8 or 9. Hope you catch up on your sleep tonight. Good advice on overtraining.

Tracy, You did have a horrible week!:( Glad it's now in the past and you can concentrate on your child. My O My, poor little guy. Please keep us posted on how he is doing.

Tracy Lynn, Wait a few more days, before you do anymore exercises. My SIL gets the same way when he comes back from Mexico. His wife has family there and they travel to Mexico at least twice a year.

See yas around, I'll check in again later to see how the rest of yas are doing.

New Lurker

Hi Everyone

Is it okay if I join you? I'm from the UK and still waiting my STS delivery. It will probably take another two weeks to come. Today I did BM2 Timesaver Cardio followed by Butts & Gutts Stability Ball workout. Its snowing here in the UK. Not as heavy as some of the snow you ladies are used to but quite alot. Here in Britain we can't cope with snow. Everything comes to a stand still lol.

I've just ordered an adjustable weighted vest for when STS arrives. I can't wait for it to get here. Tomorrow is gym styles legs. Hope I stick with it. I've put on loads of weight over Christmas. Also I need to clean up my diet. I have a milk habit. Yes you read correctly I love skimmed milk but I drink it by the pints so it adds on the calories. I wish I knew how to stop my milk habit in the evenings. Any suggestions?

Have good days everyone and I'll check in tomorrow.

Love
Laura

Hi Laura (Pippadog1),

WELCOME ABOARD!I just got my STS today. I'm flying high! It takes that long to get to you? How awful! It will give you plenty of time to prepare for it though, at least that's a bright side of it. I'm not very good at waiting for wonderful things at all. At Christmas times, if people aren't careful, I feel the package, try to rattle it... I'm impossible. With all the snow your way, I'm hoping you are settled in, cozy and warm. You'll stick with it, you have all kinds of support here, don't worry. My Christmas weight is still around and I will be getting rid of the last of it with STS. At night I'm awful with food and habits too. I try to drink nice hot cammomile tea, you can drink it by the pint too, it has no calories. It seems to help me. Oh another one is when you feel your habit coming, brush your teeth with toothpaste, that always stops it right in it's track.

Hope this helps a little, and we'll see you tomorrow,

Janie
