Xers..........High Five Friday!!!!!!!

Hi there all! hopefully I can catch up a bit while DD is packing to go to my mom's for the night. My little diva is going to be on the local news tonight and she is very excited about it! It was their 100th day of school today and the first grade had a big to-do about it and the local news station is doing a story on them. Pretty cute. My presentation went well this morning....the professor even complimented me on it when I got done. I also had a lovely massage and learned a few things from my masseuse today...I am really starting to like this gal. And I got a nap in already, so there is no excuse for me not working out this afternoon!! I must get off my lazy a$$ and workout!!! I feel a little like Christiane lately and I don't have a lot of motivation. This always happens to me when I am not lifting heavy and I try to do a lean rotation. My motivation suffers. Anyway, I promise to be a good girl today.

personals.....

Christiane...
I certainly know how your are feeling with a lack of motivation for fitness lately....nothing major, probably just some winter doldrums I guess. I suppose it was god for you to see the contemporary ballet since DD is heading in that direction. Where is your DS at school?? And what is he majoring in?? Does he have a plan for after graduation? Nice you got some snow....it's pretty especially when it is only around for a day or so!

Teddygirl...
Sorry you are having some relationship issues...It is never easy even when you love the person. I think that it takes a lot of effort to mold 2 lives together. I certainly need my space, so I know how that is. Keep that darn boss of yours busy somewhere else!

Lea...
Hope littlest DS continues to do well so that you can get what I am sure is a much needed break! We have needed the rain for so long, I hate to complain about it, but it has been pretty cold to go along with it. I am sorry you won't be able to join us for the retreat....maybe next year we can meet in sunny California! I have some kind of funky dance with the meez, hunh? But notice I am about to be run over by a group of bulls...but I seem pretty oblivious to it...LOL!

Okay...gotta rush DD to a bday party....then I have vowed to exercise...so I will bbl with my workout complete!

Got YogaX done. DD slept most of the morning and now she is up and feeling a little better.

Laurei- Careful driving in all that snow. Will you be shovelling this evening?

Debra- Congrats on such a great job on your presentatin! Kim

Okay, I really need some advice from all you fitness experts.

As you know I just started phase 2 and I thought I would do Doubles but using running instead of CardioX as I would like to do a half marathon in June. When I finish my 90 days I will only have 10 weeks to prepare for the race so I thought it would be good to do 2-4 miles 2-3x per week (instead of CardioX.) during Phase 2 and 3.

I was just looking at the message boards on BeachBody and they really don't recommend running with P90X, they say that CardioX is more of a cardio recovery dvd and that intense cardio will lead to a plateau. I'm not sure if I don't run if 10 weeks will be enough prep time though. Any thoughts?? Kim

YAY!! I did Eion!!! No sillies, not in that way:p!!! But Magically Hips was as always, sensational. I feel so much better and am finding that I am getting much more flexible. I almost have the splits down....well on one side at least. Hopefully one day my hips will be equally stretched. My left side seems much much tighter than my right and it is my right side that hurts!! Go figure.

Debra - Way to go with your little diva. The 100th day of school IS a big deal. Are you recording her being on the news? You should and then post it. Great job on your presentation. Have a great workout and stay warm.

Kim - I am glad that DD is feeling better.

Christianne - Glad it is looking beautiful there. I am happy that you enjoyed the ballet, even if it wasn't classical. But my goodness, I am not running just yet. My little guy is running around. Me, I am just walking and doing yoga oh yeah, and pilates like you suggested. How is you DD doing by the way?

Lea

Hi all,

Traci - Did you re-work your rotation? Have you decided on what your goal is for the next couple of months?

Lea - You have to stretch everyday; otherwise the tight muscles put tension or stress on the nerves and it's a vicious cycle. Glad you feel better today.

Kim - I think you have to decide what your ultimate goal for the next 3-4 months is. If it is participating competitively in the running, then you should be adding the running. You will still benefit from the x by gaining lean muscle mass, you just might not see great strength gains. I lifted basically the same weights for long periods of time and it does build a nice base of muscle. If you want just strength, then I wouldn't add in the running. I did my own version of doubles with step and still gained plenty of muscle. Running is probably a little different, but I ran from spring to just a couple of weeks ago, and gained plenty of muscle. If you are interested in building muscle, then there is always time to continue that after the marathon. JMO.

Jeanette - Glad the cario capacity is improving. I love the gauntlet. Will th weather allow for riding this weekend?

Nicole - Did you shop and then bring it today?

Sandra - How was the workout? It's not too hard and a nice change of pace.

I'll finish the rest of the personals a little later, it's time to workout.

Tracy

Hi everyone,

Today was one of those days where the to-do list seemed to go one forever.

Traci....Are you off to the Bay house this weekend? Ah, I see by your post to Tracy that you're staying put, but will be busy. I'm sure I don't know the whole story about DH's parents. His mother died before we got close enough to go into that kind of personal stuff, I'd never dream of asking his father, and they never really told much to their kids. It seemed like a good situation, though. From your post this morning, I can't see a downside at all to mocking up your own mesocycles. When do you start? I won't throw any mugs at you. I've never tried DD coffee.

Lea....More sickness? You must be fed up with it all by now. I hope you got that time to yourself tonight. I 'did' Eion today too! I did his Pure & Simple Yoga dvd. I really like that one. I like all his stuff, actually.

Tracy....I'm sure you had a great time wtih Amy today. I was surprised when the LG premix today replayed the entire segment from the leg presses through to the calf raises. On the premix sheet, it was only supposed to replay the leg presses, then move on to the rest of the standing legs (from the calf raises onwards). Did your do that, too? I did premix as it played, which means I did most of the standing leg work and extra leg presses 2x. That tuckered out the old gams, I have to admit.

Jeaneatte....I wasn't too keen on the barbell for leg presses in PLB, either, but eventually got used to it. I tend to stay on the lighter side with the weights, though, because I worry about losing my balance and having a bad fall. Carole (McMain, I think?), a long-time forum member, does those pyramid leg presses with 3 different tensions of bands. That's clever, isn't it? That Gauntlet is a toughie. Good work to you!!!

Laurie....What an energetic workout you did today! Yes, I've done that bc/me bonus combo a couple of times. It is indeed a good one. If you look at it closely, it's actually a nascent version of her high step workouts. I've always thought that if someone wanted a sub for either HSTA or HSC, that bonus combo would suit the bill nicely. I loved reading about your household neglect. We're two of a kind in that respect.

Kim....More sick kids? I hope she's feeling better soon, and can join you for the skating. No, I haven't heard about the long skating rink! That's really neat!!! I've always wanted to skate on the Ottawa canal, especially during their winter festival. Will you all be having a big festival, too? I wish I could help you with your running/half marathon dilemma, but I don't have any advice. Personally I wouldn't have considered the bit of running you would be doing to be overly intense, especially for someone who's so used to it, as you are. I've never heard of CardioX being called a 'recovery' cardio. I guess you need to ask, what is more important to you? I can't imagine that adding a bit of running will entirely negate the X work, or harm you. So, are you willing to train for the half marathon, knowing that you might be partially compromising your X results?

Christiane....Remaining motivated to work this hard, and eat this clean, for 12 weeks is very difficult. Everyone struggles right around the point you are, I think. Well, except for Laurie. She loves this crazy stuff.

Debra....So, did you catch your daughter's tv debut? How was it? Was she thrilled to see herself? Why do lean rotations become tough for you? Do you not enjoy that kind of exercise?

I need to catch a date with the sand man. See you all tomorrow!
Sandra

Shopping done! Kenpo+ done! Laundry done!

Now it's time for nighty night:D

KenpoX+ moves fast so I'll need to practice it a bit before I get the full benefit. I thought I would be bored with the repetitiveness but it's a bit tricky so I was glad for it. I imagine after the round you would just be getting really good at it:p

I hope you all had a great day! I missed chatting:*

Good evening,
Wow, I feel like Rip Van Winkle. Came home from work, made a fire in the woodstove, ate dinner, did the dishes and took a nap. Woke up but feels like hours and hours later. Think DH is going to Reno tomorrow to go to a Pick N Pull junkyard place to look for Dodge parts. I believe I'll stay home as that just does not sound like an enjoyable outing for me. I think I'll do some housework, maybe shop a bit and get ready for the bike ride in the valley on Sunday. My trainer is also supposed to arrive tomorrow by Fed Ex.

Latrese, good Cardio Coach choice. I like that #5 workout. They are all good. How is the S&H rotation feeling? Can't wait to see the dreads. My hair has been growing like crazy.

Lea, glad your DS is feeling better. Sorry we won't be seeing you at the retreat. Maybe another time. Hope nobody else gets sick at your house. You've had enough.

Laurie, good workout today. I too had those Terminator Climbers in The Gauntlet today. Love the Gauntlet and those other compilations on that DVD. Have you tried a chinup yet? I never have yet. Yep, I'm a chicken. Actually, I don't have a chinup bar. Another remedy for skunk that I tried and it worked well is canned (evaporated) milk. Worked good. I don't know how smart I am about cycling. I'm still planning on going on the 55 miler on Sunday. Few showers predicted and in the 40's. Crazy. Did you get a chance to check out the Norwich Terrier? They have the pointy ears and the Norfolk have the floppy. I just think they are adorable.

Kim sorry about your DD not feeling well. One by one, it's getting us. Dad seemed better tonite. I took KFC over to them tonite. That's what Dad wanted me to pick up. He wasn't wheezing so that's good. Grandma looked good tonite too. Poor Mom is dragging from having to take care of both of them. Getting old is not for sissies. I'm like you and want to follow a rotation that someone else puts together, but I need to start thinking outside that box. Ice skating sounds like fun. I've wondered about roller blading too. I hear that works your legs differently (in a good way). Hope you get some good advice on the running training. I'm not a runner so don't know. I would think doing both P90X and running would be exhausting after a while. With my cycling, I have to watch that I don't do leg workouts the day before a long ride or competition.

Tracy, I'm hoping we don't have rain down in the valley on Sunday. You get wet from the rain and the water off of the tires hitting you. Can be miserable. Good thing is we have a van following us so if it gets too bad, hop in the van. What workout did you do of Amy's today? KB?

Sandra, hope you got that nap in today. Have you been baking lately? I'm still longing for a baking day for me. Bet you got a ton of things done today.

Christiane, I too am mucho tired of the snow. If I don't see little changes in my body, after a while I start losing the focus. However, with cardio capacity, I always get improvements with tougher workouts with intervals. Wish those improvements transferred over to better body composition. Oh well, at least I am very healthy and have good endurance for my age. My problem is that I'm just not that motivated to keep working hard. Others on this checkin are really smart about their workouts and push themselves. They get good results. Me, I'm a bit of a slacker, but I'll always exercise and be active. You sound like you are doing well. Tony says we just have to do our best and forget the rest...

Debra, we knew you would do well on the presentation today. Way to go! Aahhhhh, the massage sounds wonderful. Is it a deep tissue massage? Light? Did your DD enjoy the filming tonite? Your meez cracks me up. She's dancing as if oblivious to the danger behind her. What an exhibitionist she is LOL!

Nicole, glad you enjoyed the new Kenpo workout. Nice to have some variety for sure. I've never been a big KB fan for some reason. I always like the step workouts. I definitely need to move out of my comfort zone.

Got to sign off now, not sure what I'll do tomorrow workout wise. Must check the rotation.
