Reading a few other threads got me wondering about this. I started out as a cardio freak and learned to love it all. Given the choice however 90% of the time I'd be working out with my heartrate through the roof. What's your preference (or not :) ) have your preferences changed through the years?

Hi Laurie...I of course would be considered a cardio junkie as I run so much. But in the last 2 years adding yoga and pilates to running and weights that I have done for years...I love it all...:)

I'm so glad you gave "Love it all" as an option because I could NOT have chosen one method of working out. Okay, I kind of prefer weight training but I have of late grown to love the other methods too because they are so darn good for really changing your body. Each method gives you a kind of edge that you couldn't get without incorporating it into your rotation.

can't live without it. no cardio, get to pudgy, no weights lose all this great shape and muscle,no pilates or yoga my body gets tight and less strong especially the back. i love them all in my own special way, just having ones of those weeks though where i want to say the heck with it all. LOL.

I love the differences between them- there isn't anything I could do every day. (With the exception being running, but the ol bod won't accept that as an option for me.)

It's great to own as many different workouts as I do- this way I don't have to decide!!! }(

I love it all but go through phases where I have more fun w/one type of exercise than another. Right now my "love affair" is with cardio-the treadmill and running specifically. I was into lifting super heavy for my upper body prior to this...who knows what next month will bring. }(

Those who 'Love it All' have dominated the poll and although it doesn't surprise me it reinforces everything that I love about coming to this forum. WE ROCK!!! How wonderful would it be if 'Loving it All' was the norm in the 'real world' and the majority of folks exercised their precious bodies for the love of it. The hospitals would be less busy, stocks in pharmaceuticals would plummet, the silly games with clothing sizes would cease and I think we'd all be a whole lot nicer to each other because working out is such an invaluable stress buster.....we really do ROCK!:7

I haven't been working out much this year, so at first didn't feel qualified to vote. But I did work out for many years, so I just voted for strength. The thing I always liked about strength training was that you could SEE results. Although health was always my primary goal, being able to see results was very motivating, because I knew the work I was doing was making a difference. As a result, it has always been easier for me to motivate myself to strength train than to do cardio.

This year I'm pretty stressed out, but when I do workout I mostly do cardio because it does help me to relax a bit.

Laurie,

Over a year ago I would have said cardio. I pretty much did cardio (running 5-6 days a week) and abs with power yoga thrown in about 2-3 times a week. After finding Cathe's DVD, I'm happy to say that I love weights as much as cardio. Somedays I can't wait to pump some iron. :) Other days, I can't wait to hop on the treadmill or do a cardio DVD. LOVE IT ALL!!! I've really learned the importance of cross-training here. It's done wonders for me!

Good thread!

I'll bet you can't guess which one I picked--lol! Ah geez, I just tolerate it all. I wish I could just BE toned and in good aerobic condition without having to actually work for it. Why does everything have to be so friggin hard? *SIGH*

Michele, Honey the 'Tolerates' category was created with you in mind;-) I just knew that I could count on your vote there:) It's okay to be a hater/tolerater, what we love about you is that you aren't a quitter!

Variety is the spice of life...ESPECIALLY with me! I have the attention span of a toddler it seems and I love that my addiction to exercise provides such variety that I never get bored. Even with running there are tremendous variations in training...LOVE IT ALL :7
