workout after shoulder injury?

Hi,

I had a pinched nerve in my shoulder. It is still tender. What should I focus on Cardio and lower body?

This has been a 4 week recovery and I don't want to screw it up again. I have been doing light cardio and lower body work. My upper body is mushy.

Any suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks

Sorry for your injury! That stinks!

A while ago I injured my shoulder and I waited until it was COMPLETELY healed before I started lifting again. It took 2+ months. I waited until I had no pain at all. when I started lifting again I used about 2/3 the weight that I had been lifting before.

I know this is discouraging. Try to think of it as keeping yourself healthy long-term and not being muscly right now. You'll blast away the "mushy" feeling soon enough!

Good luck!

I'd concentrate on lower body and cardio, but also do stretches for the upper body. (You could even try doing some isotonic exercises---resistance against an immovable object, like holding your arm out at a lateral raise position, then pushing against the resistance of your other hand, which is what most of a series of workouts by J.B. Burns for rehab and injury prevention is based on).

Thanks for the suggestions. I did this a month ago and there is still a twinge of pain there. This is really frustrating but I have to be patient.:-(

Is there a set of prescribed rehab-type exercises you can do?

I have a palsy in my long thoracic nerve (I got it during childbirth almost 4 years ago) and it is taking forever to heal - but that's the nature of nerve injuries. I guess in a way, I feel your pain. Hope you're 100% soon.
