will it be possible to knit a dress soon?

i started knitting like 2 weeks ago and I am super excited about it. I have a list of books with gorgeous clothing, dresses that I want to buy. And I really want to learn using nice thin yarns. I know it's harder to use. I have SO MUCH to learn. I am half way in my 1st scarf and happy to say that there is no errors so far. I had one and fixed it. I am aware that it's easy comparing to a dress or a jacket. I cannot wait to be able to make nice clothing. I want to learn sewing also, I know it's faster to make clothing and less chances of errors. But now, I am so loving knitting. I think about it all the time and at work, I cannot wait to get home and knit. Creating something is a nice feeling. I love it.

So, do you think in may be a year, I will be able to make nice wearable clothing that look like bought at a store or am I dreaming?

thx

What a cool idea

It depends on how much time you have and whether or not you plan to knit it or just sew one. I think you could probably sew a beginners pattern pretty soon. I think the knitting may take more skill and you might be frustrated if its not perfect but maybe I'm underestimating you. Why not set that goal and see where you are in a year?

Practice, practice, and more practice and be patient and don't give up. I would highly suggest taking a begginers class somewhere, . .for both knitting and sewing, . . I'm a self taught knitter and it took me a while to get the hang of it. You Tube was great for showing me how to do certain things. I love to re-vamp some of my older clothing, . . .sorta using them as experiments. I'll dye or trim, hem, or add to dresses, tops, or pants that I don't wear anymore. I recently turned some of my yoga pants into kids sized yoga pants for my daughter. It is so much fun making something from scratch but just remember that practice makes perfect, . . and the best advice is to start small perfect that skill and move forward. After all if you just took up running you wouldn't want to run a marathon right away without traning. Good luck and happy knitting and sewing!
BTW when you learn the skills of good tailoring it is amazing how well clothes can look when they fit you just right.
