Who Killed the Electric Car?

Did anyone see this? I happen to catch it over the w/e & I am just shocked that such a thing existed but GM kiboshed it. Imagine never having to go to a gas station ever again! Just plug your car in when you get home, unplug it when you leave, & you're good to go (that's as long as you're not driving more than about 80 miles). And all for the same price as a gas guzzler.

I just don't get it. How do these things happen w/o consumers knowing about it? And what can we do about it now that GM has crushed & shredded pretty much every electric car in existence? x(

I saw this several months ago and my husband and I had about the same reaction you did. I know I'll get a lot of grief for saying this but so long as we have an presidential adminstration in office that is basically in bed with "big oil", there will be no governmental push to reduce gas consumption or any other kind of environmental programs. I really wish Al Gore would run for office; I'd vote for him in a flash.

No grief from me. And don't give up on Gore, I suspect we might hear an announcement from him in, oh, maybe 6 mos. or so. ;-)

No grief from me: I agree completely.

I've heard for years that alternative technologies (not just for cars, but all energy) have been developed, then big oil companies buy up the patents and never use them, because it's more profitable for them to not have them available.

I'd love to see him at least play a very strong role in the next administration.
