Who does rotations, none at all, or in between?

Or who does a bit of both. If you follow a rotation, do you do one of Cathe's or make your own - and if you make your own, how do you go about doing it? I'm really just curious about who does what and how it's working for you. I haven't done any specific rotation as of yet I guess mainly b/c I often don't have enough of the DVDs. NOw I guess I could make one but I want to see what everyone else does first. Okay, tell me, folks!!!! Thank you :7

I "kinda, sorta, sometimes" use rotations ;-) , and I've been more into them after using P90X and seeing how effective a well-thought-out rotation can be.

Sometimes, I will set up my basic rotation around a weight workout series (the Pyramids or GS, for example), and fill in the cardio days less formally (setting up specific weight workouts on specific days, but setting up "types" of cardio on other days, and choosing the actual workout the day of or maybe the day before).

Usually, I still go pretty much rotation-less, but I have a general plan (doing one interval step workout during the week, alternating between upper body and lower body focus--in cardio as well as weights, such as doing boxing or kickboxing wearing weighted gloves on an "upper-body cardio" day).

When I have a hard time getting in workouts, I just plan the workouts I can get in based on what I need at the time. For exemple, if I haven't gotten either cardio or weights for a while, I'll do a combo workout. If I need lower body focus, I'll do a lower body workout (nowdays, often preceded by a short cardio workout as an extended warm-up and metabolism booster).

I think rotations work well because they help you make sure you get everything in during a certain time period.

I've never done a Cathe rotation, but make up my own (some of the rotations I've looked at, and they weren't many, had a weight workout followed the next day by a circuit weight/cardio workout, something that I don't find effective).

Hi ya Deb!:)

Right now I am doing Sarah's home made rotation. This is what it looks like and I plug in the specific work outs as I go:

day # 1 full body weights + 20-30 minutes cardio
day # 2 circuit work out + 20-30 minutes xtra cardio
day # 3 cardio only 40-60 minutes
day # 4 same as # 1
day # 5 same as # 2
day # 6 same as # 3
Plus 5-6 days/week of 10 min. ab work or 3 days/week of coremax.

Prior to this I mostly did NOT follow a rotation. No reason...just found it easier to pick at the last minute according to my mood but would always try to make sure I had enough weight training in there, etc.

As I gather up more Cathe vids I will start looking into doing her rotations more often....

Hi Debbie!

I try to follow a rotation, just makes it easier for me. I have done some of Cathe's rotations, with the HC rotations being the most recent ones. For the last couple of months I have been doing this:

Day 1: Cardio - 60 min
Day 2: UB + 30 min cardio
Day 3: Cardio - 60 min
Day 4: LB + 30 min cardio
Day 5: UB + 30 min cardio
Day 6: Circuit workout
Day 7: Pilates - 60 min

I've lost a few pounds, but more importantly I'm losing inches. I think it's time to shake things up a bit, so I don't know yet what I'm doing for October. I like Wendy's rotation:D .

I don't typically do a rotation, but I have to say the August one is awfully tempting - if only to say that I've actually completed it. But so many days are 90 minutes to 2 hours and while the over all time is not an issue, I need to split it up between home and gym. So I may take it and modify it a bit to be able to do that.

Hey Debbie, the May rotation was the only one of Cathe's I followed and it gave me great results. Otherwise I have a basic outline of what I want to do. I've been alternating a heavy weight week with an endurance week since after the roadtrip so I don't burn out fast, and it has worked well for me. On my heavy weight week, I work out every major muscle group once and insert my cardio and ab work here and there. On my endurance weeks I work out every major muscle group twice and get in my cardio and ab work where appropriate. When I'm short on time I do circuits. I'm constantly eyeing Cathe's October rotation. I'm not sure if I'm doing it yet. The thing about rotations is that there is a specific workout assigned for a specific day, and sometimes that doesn't work out for me. Either I need more recovery time or there are a lot of other things that need my attention. Sometimes I just don't like the workout planned for that day. (Easy to substitute though.)
