What to wear under stretchy workout shorts

What do you ladies wear under stretchy shorts when you workout in a public place? I don't wear thongs anymore because I have a few dimples on my derriere, but I don't want underwear lines from my regular bikinis. I usually wear old crap because I workout at home, but I'm taking a class and am clueless now.

I should clarify as I'm not sure what you mean by stretchy shorts. I usually wear cotton baggy shorts to work out, but when I went on vacation and exercised with nieces, etc. and the men that could pop in the cabin any time, I wore spandex underneath the baggy shorts. You know what baggy shorts can do in kicks and abs!

Sorry if I was confused. I'm not comfortable enough to wear spandex alone.

I don't wear shorts in public, but I do wear supplex/spandex cropped pants at the gym.

I go commando.

Why not just wear regular short running shorts or something. They don't have to be "tight" necessairly. I used to have to wear the tight black shorts when I was a beginnner in gymnastics (and taking classes, wasn't team yet) and I HATED it. Your leo that you wore under it rode up every single time you did somethingx(x(x(. But anyway, maybe try regular running shorts. Trust me, they are MUCH more comfortable and you don't have to worry about what kinda underwear you wear.

I go commando! (Nothing gets between me and my lycra!)

But if I were to feel a bit self-conscious in public, or have some lycra of questionable opaqueness, I would wear a pair of loose shorts OVER the lycra.

I'd wear whatever I felt comfortable in. After all, are others there to be checking out my butt or VPL? No, I don't think so, just as I am not checking out theirs! Do what makes you feel good. VPL be damned!

I go commando too. Can't stand the "undie creep" while working out.

I am commando also, but be sure they have a gusset if you do this. I have mistakenly bought some on sale without closely examining them, and they don't have a gusset so now I wear a thong with them. It doesn't feel as good.

Meredith, what's a gusset?

The thought of having to put something on under them never entered my head. Most have extra panels sewn in. I have Nike shorts with fitted spandex shorts underneath as well. I guess if they were more transparent one might need to double up.

Hey Sparrow, not Meredith but thought I'd answer. The gusset is the ellipse shaped cloth stitched right at the crotch of the shorts, it strengthens the seams and puts a cotton buffer betweet the shorts and the sensitive tissue it contacts. How's that for diplomatic;-) :+

I get the shorts w/ the gussett. The only color I don't wear in tight shorts is white. Never appealed to me. If I am just doing weight work and no cardio I like to wear those Nike or Reebok running shorts w/ the liner in them. Mostly men wear them, but that's okay, I love the give you get when working out in them.

Commando here,

I definetely go with nothing underneath. I heard it's better for you, plus it eliminates any panty lines or "riding up". If that's not for you, just wear whatever you feel like. No one really cares--trust me. I take a lot of classes at the gym and notice that everyone is different. I don't like worrying that my undies are gonna be peaking out from my pants, either....
