What to eat before and after exercising?

Hello Everyone!

I love exercising first thing in the morning for 1-2 hours (depending on what time I get up), what do you suggest to eat that early in the morning before I exercise? I hear that you are supposed to fill up on carbs for energy within a 1/2 hour before exercising and protein within a 1/2 hour after exercising. Is that true and what do you suggest to eat?

Hi Zoraida -
According to what I've read you shouldn't let your blood glucose levels fall too much when pregnant and exercising. And you should wait an hour or two after eating before exercising. Here's what's been working for me:
Before getting pregnant, I also used to exercise first thing in the morning before I ate a thing. But now being pregnant, I eat a bowl of cereal with a banana (and strawberries if I have them; I try for more fruit than cereal). I wait about 2 hours, exercise (and drink plenty of water during the workout), then within 30-45 mins I eat either yogurt or cottage cheese. Within an hour of eating that I graze on the rest of my lunch. I work at home so I can be very disciplined about this. If I can't workout until the afternoon, I try to workout two hours after lunch and then I usually eat a piece of fruit or something like that after. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the your response, I will use your plan and see how that will work for me.

God Bless,
