What are your plans for the Holiday week (end)?

We're starting out in Rome because my DH has a meeting there. We're going to spend some time in Venice and then we're off to my mommas hometown in the Campania region. I still have relatives there and we've arranged to meet them. :) :) :)

We're going to the American military cemetery in the Netherlands for a Memorial Day service, too. One of my uncles was killed in WWII and is buried there. We're pretty excited!

Where did you stay in Venice and Rome? Do you have any favorite restaurants you'd like to recommend?
 
Ahhh, Venezia. We loved it. This is where we stayed.

Nothing fancy, but comfortable (and I swear, the best water pressure of any shower I've ever been in),inexpensive, close to the train station so you don't have to spend money on a water taxi when you get there, and quiet...it was strange getting used to how silent it was at night, with no cars or trucks. DH said he felt like he was camping only he was inside!

I hope you love Venice as much as we did. Oh, and if you haven't read it, you might want to pick up "City of Falling Angels," by John Berendt. (He also wrote "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil.) It's about Venice when the opera house burned down a few years ago.

Our favorite place was Campo San Margherita. Lots of locals hanging out in the morning, the fish mongers set up shop early, closing just in time for the restaurants to start opening with tables that spill out into the piazza.

I'm so jealous! I want to go back!!! Enjoy!
