wasting energy.......

I'm in the middle of some PTA 'stuff' (politics, that's a better word for it). I got to talking about it with somebody AGAIN today. I won't bore you, nor waste your time, explaining it. But it got me thinking.....

Why worry about about this little detail or that little detail?
Don't these people have "bigger fish to fry"?

I mean, I'm raising my kids alone.
My mom is going thru some tough chemo.
My love life is sort of in limbo.
Some very dear friends of mine are fighting cancer.

Now THOSE are some big things to put energy into, and even THOSE things
can't be completely controlled so I just try to direct my energy in a POSITIVE WAY!

Why do these people CARE so much about minute details, like what color our school bags are, or whether the 3rd graders get a stinkin' T-shirt this year? Why waste energy on such little MEANINGLESS things?

I'm sorry, perhaps it's just me and where I'm at right now. But it drives me INSANE! These people should be HAPPY they only have to worry about things like "my child's classroom bathroom was out of anti-bacterial soap and I want the custodian FIRED"???

DRIVES ME NUTS!!!!!!!!!!!

Gayle

(whew.....I feel much better now! HA)

edited::: Oh, I just re-read my post and I DO NOT mean this to sound like a 'woe is me' thing....I hope you understand what I'm trying to say here.

I feel exactly that way today Gayle. Last night my husband went to a wake for a family member of his who died at the age of 57, (on his BD), and left behind several heartbroken grandchildren, as well as a wife and children. While he was at the wake, I learned my cousin's 12 year old daughter has leukemia, and is being treated with chemo and dialysis. It must be really bad. Within minutes a co-worker called to talk to me about another co-worker of ours who just found out she may have cervical cancer.

I come to the forums, and I read a thread about those not going on the RT planning a trip to the diner where the R.T. brunch will be so they can meet some of the members from here who will be on the R.T., and it just seems to have opened a whole can of worms, and I'm thinking, oh my god, is this even important. With all the issues going on in life, and soo many people affected by different types of adversity, I agree with you, little things as a PTO problem, or to me, whether it's right or wrong to "invade" as some have called it the R.T. I'm not saying anyone is right or wrong in their opinion, just that when you have bigger things going on in your life, things like this just seem soo trivial.

Iris, I'm wondering if it's a full moon! LOL My kids are a bit out of synch today too!

p.s. I'm SOOOO SORRY to hear about the recent bad events plaguing your life. It's one of those days where I want to just list, on a piece of paper in permanent Sharpie marker, what IS important in my life and what's worth my effort and energy.

I really think that people who spend a lot of time on what are, in the big picture trivial things, are using it to use up their time so that they don't have to deal with the harder issues of life. If they are putting all that energy into the small stuff, they can avoid the hard things like marriage problems, job troubles etc. It's simply easier to waste time and avoid them.

Isn't it crazy home so many people love to get so worked up about stuff that is so trivial in the scope of life. If a person's family is all healthy, we should count ourselves so lucky. I don't know why people would rather complain and get all worked up over the little things instead of being happy over the big things.

Don't let 'em get you down Gayle. They're cheating themselves out of happiness and trying to drag you down too. Too bad, because it takes a good person to head up the PTA!!

And I do know exactly what you're saying!

Annie

The PTA... Oh Lord. I was born in 1961 and my late mother went out of her way to not participate in the PTA when I was little because of all the trivial crap and the gossip. She told me a barmaid once told her that she thought of her every time she heard the song "Harper Valley PTA." I really listened to that song once and couldn't stop laughing. Yep. That was my mom! :p
