================================

Have a great wednesday everyone!!!!

Deanie, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO DS!!! Sounds like you made it a great day for him. I think it's so great that you make birthdays so special for your kids. :) I think it's crazy that you are thinking about Bar Mitzvah right now when he just got out of the single digits - I know that isn't something mommies like thinking about ;):p

Gayle, I loved your workout from yesterday. Do you have your own set of rings or do you go to the gym? I have never tried ring dips, but it looks like it would be a fun new challenge! I didn't have any kisses left, but I did have some Hersey bars from when DH baked cookies. ;] And yes, it did help. Especially with the help of my older DS... I really don't know why God gave him to us because we really don't deserve him. He tucked me in bed, got me tea, did the dishes and put a movie on for little DS... one that was "appropriate for his maturity level." What a kid!

Jane, I am so happy that there is someone there to help you ease your mind. :) I am so glad to know that things are looking up.

Marcy and Rhonda - HELLLLLLLLOOOOO!!!! :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Here was today's workout:

10-1 ladder in couplets

*BB thrusters/pull ups (about half were chin ups)
*r&l lunges/push ups with a 10# vest
-
weights used for Thrusters started at 25#, but went up as reps went down, ended at 45# and my booty was shaking
-weights for lunges ranged from 20-45#
-did all push ups on toes, need to use vest more - it felt good
cashed out with 30 knees to chest (can't do elbows ;])
Total time was 23:47
That was the first time that I had done BB thrusters, and I definitely like them more than KB thrusters. I think from now on I will nix the kb and just do db or bb thrusters.

Today we are doing a whole lot of staying in. IT is sleeting like crazy out there, and the wind is crazy. How is the weather where you are?

See you later!

Melissa

Deanie, I just got ETK! That's a whole lotta cleans and presses!!! I know that you also recommend Pavel's ETK to accompany it. Any particular reason why? It is a very expensive book and I hate spending money, so I need some persuasion. :p

Melissa

Hi All,

I had a very pretty run last night. Downtown was all lit up, there were delicious smells coming from the bakery and the church bells were playing Christmas Carols. I did not trip and fall! Yay!!

Tonight I'm doing a Tabata workout!

Darn Heavy Tabatas!
Go Heavy
Suitcase Deadlifts
Swings
Anchored Sit ups
Balls Slams
20 sec work/10 sec rest, 8 rounds

Deanie ~ I'm glad DS has a great birthday. It's so cool that you make birthdays fun for your kids. My mom also made our birthdays extra special. Some kids don't get that and it's sad! Thanks for your kind thoughts. So far so good although I have heard that mom is NOT doing her exercises! I will be there next week and will make sure that she does every single exercise!! Great workout today.

Melissa ~ I'm glad you're feeling much better today. How sweet of your DS to take care of you. I'm glad you are staying in today. We are having temps in the mid 70's with a possibility of showers. Tomorrow it's only going to be in the low 50's. Yikes! That is winter for me!!

Gayle ~ Nice workout yesterday. Hope you're enjoying your week off.

Waving to Marcy and Rhonda!!!

Good Afternoon:)

Melissa::: Great workout today. I don't like thrusters, but I prefer the kbs!!..in fact I am doing them on friday and was thinking of using kbs depending on the weight I use. I am not thinking of ds10's barmitzvah, but we are getting our date next month. I think we will get the date, and then not think about it for a while:). Okay, I am going to try and answer why you need Pavels ETK the best I can:
first of all, his books are expensive, but well worth the price. I continually refer back to PTTP as I am doing the program. they are a wealth of info. I wish I had ETK the first time I went thru it.... had to ask my brother for info since he had the book. I also think the AOS workbook assumes you have the ETK book.
second: as the program is written by AOS, you are doing 20, 30, 40 or 50 swings depending on the week during the program min. A better gauge of endurance (from what I have read in ETK and on the DD forums) is to do 30 on/30 off swings for 12 min....maybe even start with 10 min and work up to 15 by the end of the first 4 weeks.
third: AOS recommends doing parts of Providence and Newport during variety days during ROP. I personally, along with others on the DD and AOS forums, feel this is too much. It takes away from the work you are trying to accomplish in ROP.
fourth: AOS''s version of ETK there are no clear goals. With Pavel's ETK he states the specific goals you are working towards, whether you hit it the first time thru or not, you still have a goal (which I personally like- I like to know where I am headed)
fifth: Pavel's version of light days on ROP is different (not alot, but I like it better)- you only clean once, and then continue to press (hope that makes sense:confused:)
lastly, there is A LOT of VERY GOOD instruction on a lot of the kettlebell exercises, but most specifically the clean and press and the snatch as well as the swing.

My brother took some classes with an RKC trainer and he thought doing 50 swings was ridiculous, to do the 30/30 would be better.

I plan on doing ETK for the first four weeks following the above system of 30/30 for swings and working on my TGU, more like the book. I will probably also do a workout and tack on the swings 2 days and tgu 2 days, for the program minimum. For ROP I will follow the book, roll my dice for how long to swing or snatch after the c&p's. I will not be doing 50 swings with 10 seconds rest for 5 minutes though (another part not mentioned in the book, but is part of the AOS workbook, and I don't like it). If I roll the dice and it comes up 5 min. I am going to go as long as I can, rest and then restart....a little less rigid...The book and the AOS workbook both are the same with the ladders of c&p to do during ROP. I will probably use the worksheets from AOS though to record my workouts.

I learned a lot from the book and also the DD forum. I will see about posting some articles/topics I thought were useful.
HTH:confused:

Jane::: Yay!! for not tripping and falling:) Make sure your mom does her exercises! I'm sure she is used to taking care of everyone else and puts herself last on the list!

waves to the rest of the gang!!

Melissa: Here is a post about the program min. siwngs. 311bravo is Jordan, he is an RKC instructor and I have his corrections dvd. He rocks! anything he says has been so spot on, I take it as gospel now;) He always gives great advise:

WOW DEANIE THANKS!!!
What goals are you working toward this rotation?
Do you have any of Pavel's other books?

I will get the book.

The wind is really acting up here. I took the mail out and almost fell over - and I am not a light girl! It literally sounds like the house is going to be blown over. It isn't a comforting sound.

Melissa

Melissa:: Hope you guys are safe!:eek: Sounding like the house is going to be blown over is NOT good!!! I do have a goal for the end of PTTP, I have an amount I want to pr with. (I don't want to mention it and jinx it, I'll let you all know if it happens or not and what it is after I try and pull a pr in a few weeks) For ETK my goal is to finish ROP and get thru it with the 35# bell and press a 45# bell at least once, and also to do the SSST with the 25#bell. (I missed the SSST by 1.5 minutes last time)

I have ETK and PTTP in books. My brother has downloaded Naked Warrior and from Russia with tough love, that he sent me, so I have those also. I read them all but the Naked Warrior. Some pointers he gave in from Russia with tough love helped me with my squats.

The books are quick reads and lots of pictures, but with a wealth of great info. Plus its also nice to have the book to refer to; if I remember correctly the AOS workbook makes reference to it once or twice. I'm glad you are getting it.:)

eta::: My brother has all the books I do, and also says the same thing....they are expensive, worth the $$, and constantly refers back to it. (of course my brother is much more of a "student" then I will ever be, but still!)

are still on for starting Jan. 4th?:)

It is SO on!

I think it's awesome that your brother is into this stuff, too. Do you guys compare notes?

Gotta run - we are almost done with school! We got a late start because the boys' room was filthy and I couldn't take anymore. I have 2 bags for Goodwill now... that feels reeaaaaaaallllly good!

ETA: I am planning to take a rest week before we start. I thought it was a good idea (and still do), but correct me if you think otherwise. :)

yes, we both blog and then send each other the blogs,... and then email, questions or comments to each other:eek::eek:

Sure you can take a week off before beginning ETK.:) I am going to find my new 1RM on the press and dl the week before and just do some fun met-cons I haven't done in a while (like Donkey Kong!)

Good Afternoon!

Sorry I haven't checked in. It's been a busy few days. A brief recap:

Monday: Budokon: Power & Agility. Haven't done this in a long time. What a great workout! Cross between martial arts and yoga. Definitely need lots of core strength. Most of the moves are on the floor or go from floor to standing and back to floor. Some of the moves reminded me a little of P90X - one, Komodo Dragon, was just like the chaturanga runs. The Gorilla was kind of like the Groucho Walk except jumping forward and back in a squat. Very challenging considering the first 5 minutes and the last 7 minutes are sitting in meditation! Whole workout was 52 minutes.

Tuesday: Pure Barre Pershing Square 2 - New barre workout for me. Not quite as intense as the original and not quite as quad-intensive but got a good burn all over.

Today: 4 chinups and Mix it Up from Slim Series. Used 10# for everything except chest press where I used 12#. Had a great workout!

Tomorrow will probably be yoga; maybe another Budokon.

Deanie - Cute dress! Happy belated birthday to your DS! Great workout! It's so nice your DH was able to come to school too.

Melissa - Your DS sounds awesome! How lucky you are! Nice job on the pushups! Can't wait to hear how you like ETK! It's in the 60s here today but supposed to get windy.

Jane - Sounds like you had a beautiful run! Hope you have a great workout tonight!

Waves to Rhonda!

Marcy

Hi all

I am on my way to Strong fit and KM. Was feeling tired mentally and physically so I didn't exercise. Right now my goal is 3-4 days a week and then I will try to do more as each week progresses.

Deanie- Thanks for the kind words and Happy Birthday to DS. I can't believe you get a date 3 years ahead. I have trouble planning 3 months ahead sometimes:p. Great workout today! Thanks for posting the info on the ETK.

Melissa-Great workout today. I hate sleet. It is cold here. I think it got up to 35 but wind chill is 25. It is so hard to believe that it was in the 100's a few months ago. I bought ETK also but my workouts have been so spotty, I'm not sure when I want to start.

Jane- I am so glad your mom was able to get some help around the house. Your run sounded really pretty. I closed my eyes and tried to imagine it.

Marcy- Glad you are well. Budokon sounds interesting. You seem to have the coolest workouts.

Waves to Gayle.

Hi everyone! I spent a good portion of today accompanying Gram to a doctor's appointment. She had some new x-rays taken of her hip and the doc was very happy with what he saw. :):) I know she's feeling better because she sent me out to buy her cosmetics after the appointment was over. :D

So no workout today. We're also getting some pretty wild winds. My favorite ski area is reporting 80 MPH wind gusts at the top of the single chair. We got a fair amount of snow and sleet, but fortunately, the roads weren't too bad when I drove to get Gram.

Rhonda - Have a great class tonight! 3-4 days is definitely a respectable workout schedule. On a good week I'm getting in 4. I'm amazed at the wintry weather you guys are getting.

Marcy - Budokon sounds very cool! Nice chin ups. :)

Jane - I'm glad you got in a good run. :) I really like what you did today. Good luck with getting your Mom to do her exercises, I know you can do it. ;)

Melissa - Awww, DS is a gem. I love hearing kid stories like that. :) Nice workout today! I do have a set of rings that I hung from my pull up bar. I don't use them as often as I should, but they are handy to have around. Yay on getting ETK. ITA with Deanie on Pavel's books. I only have his PTTP, but I think it's worth the money.

Deanie - Great workout today! I did Annie once as rx'd with the double unders...it took me almost an HOUR because of those stupid things! I hate double unders!! I'm glad DS had a great birthday. :)

Have a good evening everyone!

Deanie -
