Vinyl Records

I ordered one of the "retro" record players (although now they also have CD players on them as well) for DH because he has so many old vinyl records that have been out of commission lately. Does anyone know if the music industry is planning on recording again on vinyl? Some of the music genres like classical and jazz have such depth of tone, that I don't think, can adequately be captured on CD. It would be neat to find some newer artists on records.

I think you'll find that lots of the newer artists are releasing things on vinyl, but NOT the mainstream pop artists. It's generally the alternative artists who are doing it. I know Pearl Jam has released a few things on vinyl.

Sufjan Steven's "Illinois" was released on vinyl. Not sure about his other stuff. Also, most of Iron & Wine's stuff was released on vinyl and Flaming Lips has a special edition of "Christmas on Mars" in vinyl.

I'm sure there are lots more. If you have a privately owned music store in your area, someone there could probably help you.
