Update on "I'm Busy"

Some of you may know by now that my DD and her friend have been working out for a month now. I was their personal trainer mom! Well seems like they lost some interest and they were doing so good. Darn! Maybe it isn't over yet and they will continue to workout this week? I will let you all know.

Anyhow, the good news is that DH has lost 7 pounds in 1 1/2 weeks since I started packing his lunches. He has been inspired to workout when he gets home now, and he usually just works out on the weekends. Watched Supersize Me for the first time last night and felt sick to my stomach. Oh, I wanted to barf! DH did not want to watch it with me so I reported everything back to him. I know he had to be scared about the guy on there who had problems with his penis because of all the saturated fat in his diet..I made sure I told him about that!!! LOL! See, I know some mornings he sneaks out to some other places for breakfast as I don't get up at 3am to make him breakfast;-). I noticed he had oatmeal with some protein mix in there this morning.

So DD finished watching Supersize Me last night after I picked her up from McD's. This is where she is working now! I pack her dinner for her when she goes into work. Can't have her dying on me from the food either. Anyhow, she was the one who has been telling me about Fast Food Nation and the movie for sometime now. I guess it is good for her to watch it again since she is going to be working there? ;-)

RE: Update on

Hi Charolotte. Sorry to hear about your daughter and her friend. You know how teenagers are though. I"m sure that all your hard work didn't go to waste. You set a great example for your kids. Your daughter and her friend see how great you look - all that hard work does pay off. Hopefully your daughter will decide to join you again.

Congrats to your hubby and his weight loss.

Keep up the good work! :)

RE: Update on

Charlotte: You are such a great influence on your family! WTG.....

I bet your DD will come around especially since your DH is now on the same track as you. She'll probably still see results if you are packing her lunch just not as fast as if she was working out with you, too. :) Good job! I'm working on my family, too, but it's not going so good. x(

Take care and have a great weekend!
Marcia.

RE: Update on

You know, even if DD doesn't stick with it now, she has you as a role model and has a great foundation so she will most likely forge towards health when she is done being hormonal. ;) And that is great news about DH! That is exciting. I bet he feels great!

RE: Update on

I keep telling myself the role model idea. I've been trying to get DD to work out for years. I tried to get her to lift and run when she was playing soccer and now that she's in college, she's put on some weight. She asked for a yoga mat as a gift, but I noticed it sitting in the family room, not at school with her. Maybe someday she'll get it. Hope your DH sticks with it Charlotte. He has a great trainer!

RE: Update on

Supersize me made me feel gross to.He was almost green by the time the movie was over! I think it took him awhile to get those pounds off, didn't it?

Ya never know, DD may regain interest but you know how kids are.I learned from watching my sister so don't give up hope.

RE: Update on

Charlotte, you're an awesome role model for your DD AND your DH. I'll just bet your DH can't lift as heavy as you--lol!

Hang in there with DD. She'll come back around.

Now, get your butt over to the I Hate Cardio Check-in:D

RE: Update on

I was going to make the same comment that Missy made, so I'll just chime in to second Missy's comment.

My Mom taught us about eating healthy, and as soon as I was able to choose my own foods I did nothing but rebel and eat Oreos for a few years. My Mom could have felt then that she had no effect. But in the long run, that rebellious stage was really quite short in terms of my whole life, and now people tell me that I'm one of the healthiest eaters they know. I think you see my point. :D Just keep being a great role model and in the end you'll see results.

RE: Update on

Charlotte,

That's great for your DH! I'm glad he's making an effort and seeing results! Hopefully he'll stick to it!

Don't push your DD. Wouldn't want to turn her off completely. It takes LOTS of motivation and dedication to stick to a work out program as I'm sure you know! I have been on and off the exercise wagon more times in my life than I care to count !!!

MY DH, on the other hand, said he wants to strengthen his u/b for bowling...he's done PUB maybe 3x in three weeks!!!! He was supposed to do it today but isn't feeling well right now and we are going out tonight so guess who isn't working out again today!?!? Maybe my leaving for the gym in the morning will inspire him.....I doubt it though! LOL :p

RE: Update on

Wendy,

Yeah, all you can do is be there for them. I won't push DD. I just simply told her that it is her body (guilt..guilt and more guilt) so her choice!;-) Well, was that pushy? LOL! I could have kept yacking at her, but instead shut up. Now DH simply decides if he wants to listen to me or not. So far he is not listening when it comes to working his abs and doing cardio. So far he hasn't done either. Wonder what he will be doing tomorrow when he works out. I just don't want to nag him, but IF HE WOULD JUST LISTEN!!!!!! ARRRGHHHH!!!!

Charlotte~~

RE: Update on

LOL Charlotte!

If they would all LISTEN then EVERYONE would be in as good of shape us we are!!!! :p }( ;)

RE: Update on

Charlotte,

Great news about DH. You're an awesome wife and mother to get all those healthy lunches together and set that healthy, fit lifestyle example.

Don't beat yourself you about DD. All through my oldest DS school years I was an aerobics instructor/trainer and always volunteered at DS's schools leading exercise, talking to the kids, etc. Guess which kid was ALWAYS the one NOT exercising with the group - my DS. You can lead a horse to water, but you cannot make him (or her) drink.

Keep up the wonderful example.
