Trying to Get Pregnant

Hello,

I am a recent 6-7 day per week exerciser. I have also just joined this forum, so I am a new user (Be kind!) My story: about 7 years ago I lost about 30-35 pounds on my own working out at home. I had a son 4 years ago. I gained a about 40-50 pounds since I have had him. So losing 50 pounds would put me at the ideal weight for my age and size. My husband and I now want another baby and I can't get pregnant. I have found in the past that frequent exercise has helped put my "system" back in check, therefore I have started back on my rigid exercise regime. After reading some of the posts regarding exercise and getting pregnant, should I be doing this rigid routine. I feel ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC after doing Cathe's Low Max workout so I really don't want to stop. If anyone has any advice that would be excellent.

I would check with your OB and see what he or she has to say. There is certainly nothing wrong with exercising 5-6 days a week, as long as you're still getting your period regularly. Try buying the book, "Taking Charge of Your Fertility". It's very informative and will help you get to know your body a little better.

I would say that you can stick to your same routine considering that you are already an exerciser. What I would caution you about is overtraining because that could put a damper in the TTC effort. If you are working out that many days, maybe try to alternate cardio w/ weight days and mix things up. Also, don't forget to keep your diet clean and take vitamins :)

Hi, Cheryl,

First of all, good luck TTC!!! I am also trying to get pregnant, so hang in there. It still hasn't happened for us, but we've only tried for one month so far. I just have to be patient.

I would ditto the talking to your doctor part. I was talking to another lady who said she had to "let up" on her exercise a bit while she was trying to get pregnant because that was the way that her body was responding. I think it'll vary for everyone. If anything, you could always purchase one of those ovulation kits if you haven't already. That may help you time it better . . .

Let us know if you're successful!
