Trying To Fit Yoga In for Tues July 10

Cathlete
Morning Yogini's -

This morning I did Cardio Coach 6 with Sean on the TM, Bike & Elliptical. I only got my HR up to 160 cuz this cold is moving into my chest and I started coughing and prewheezing any higher.....darned cold.....darned DH for getting me sick. The Airborne didn't work. I then did Bar Method Blasts from Designer Sculpting & Fat Free leg sections and Kundalini Yoga - Dancin The Chakra's Yoga Set only 30". Cardio segment was 65" min and I burned 430 calories.

Also, last night I did Classical Stretch AntiAging Workout and it had some good ab work. The lady that leads really gives good pointers for getting my abs worked harder than anyone and the same with the stretch and leg parts. I also did PM Pilates with Ana Caban the other night. Enjoyed that as well.

I can't believe my legs and glutes are so sore from these circuits. I went really low in my sumo squats the other day and then there was Hack Squats done with the Stab ball on the wall and they work well for the quads. Also, my legs aren't used to the leg extensions or curls and maybe the amount of weight I used did work. I think her book circuits are much better than her first set of DVDs. They move too fast to use heavy enough weights.

Kel & Jen - thanks for the opinions on whether or not to take an FF break. Maybe I'll do 2 FF and 2 Circuits next week?? not sure....have to see if that would work. I wonder if that wold be too much. Listen to my body, moi??? ...yea right.....if I did that, I'd take rest days!! LOL

Kel - Sean is sooooooooooo motivating.....I just love love love him. Of course, there's my type A personality too....but when he says you can quit or take on the next challenge......and then says other stuff....there's no way I could quit early, not even today with my chest burning and my legs sore and not feeling well. There are lots of 2-4 minute intervals in Volume 6....and it was a toughie. 1, 2 and 3 are not bad......but 4 gets a bit harder and then 5-6 are really tough. I'll be interested to hear what you think. What do you have? TM, Bike...ellipitical??

Re: your elbow - I've never had an elbow problem....but possibly tendonitis aka tennis elbow? That sounds like the most common thing....just a wild stab.

I finally slept last night....can't believe it. Hope I can sleep tonight cuz I slept a bit too long this morning.

Jen - my DH runs a route in the neigborhood and has a couple places he stops to go to the bathroom.....but he's a guy....so it's a bit easier for him. LOL. I can't go that long with going....so I hear ya on that one.

I have my doctor appointment for my foot later today. This morning I'm going to Mom's to do some things......and maybe I'll stay and make an egg white omlette for lunch over there.

Have great workouts or rest days.

Good morning! This morning, I did CC Vol 4 & loved it so much that when he said "if you feel like you need more, you can repeat any of the challenges" (or something like that), I repeated challenge 3! I ended up being on the treadmill for over an hour & I jogged at a faster speed than I ever have. What is it about Coach Sean?!? I am amazed that an audio workout could motivate me like it did. I was actually left feeling like I could have done better & I am already thinking about what I'll do next time - LOL! My legs are totally fried from yesterday's PLB (I even matched Cathe's weights for a good challenge & burn... plus, I was aggravated that I couldn't do PUB, & I also figure it's probably good to push myself every once in awhile, even though I tend to bulk up in my lower body) & the CC workout this morning. So I could really use some additional stretching or yoga but my arm is still hurting so I'm still a little apprehensive about doing anything that involves putting any weight or stretching my left arm. Maybe I'll just try to stretch my legs a little more throughout the day & if my arm is still hurting tomorrow (& I'm sure my legs will still be sore so I won't want to work them hard again), I think I'll just do some ab work, along with some yoga or pilates, depending on how I feel. I hadn't planned on a rest day in the middle of the week but I'm just going to listen to my body & do what I think is best. I am already planning to do another CC on Thursday & I'm hoping my arm will be better so I can do a total body circuit on Friday. If not, I'll do a lower body circuit.

Lora - Well, I guess I already answered one of your questions. We have a treadmill & we got it for my DH but he doesn't use it anymore. I hate to think about that nice piece of equipment sitting in our den, collecting dust, but I was never motivated to use it at the same time. After I started reading about so many people loving CC so much, I decided to give it a try... & I'm glad I did! As for my arm, it's kind of hard to describe but it's not really my elbow, it's the end of my bicep, where it meets the inside of my elbow joint. It hurts/burns/twinges when I stretch it a little too far & the discomfort (I wouldn't really describe it as pain) extends into my forearm muscle & upper bicep if I try to stretch it even farther. My DH thinks I pulled it over the weekend & if that's the case, I will need to take at least the rest of the week off. I'm so glad you finally got some good sleep last night! Please let us know what kind of workouts you decide to do next week & continue to keep us updated about your mom too.

Jen - So you're enjoying doing cardio with your iPod? That's great! Anything that removes the dread factor is what we need & I think your workouts sound enjoyable by alternating walking & jogging like you are. My MP3 player doesn't have much memory (only 512 MB) but it was very inexpensive ($20) & I wasn't sure if I would even enjoy using it so I decided to just start out this way. Plus, my DH wasn't very supportive about it for some reason. He just didn't think I'd like it or use it so I decided I wouldn't waste much money in case he was right. But since I enjoyed this morning's workout so much, I think he was wrong & I can always get a nice iPod for Christmas, right? I guess you read what's going on with my arm above & I think I just need to pay attention to it, listen to my body, & abstain from upper body as long as I need to. Right now, I'm not really doing anything to treat it because it's not really an intense pain so I don't really know what I should be doing.

So ladies, based on the description about my bicep discomfort, what do you think I should be doing about it? Ice/heat/rest? Also, if I think I can work upper body by Friday, do you think I should take it easy, do PUB up only, & use lighter weights than Cathe? I want it to get better so I'll rest it completely if I need to... but you ladies know how difficult that is too.

Well, I guess it was my turn to write a long one today so I'll head back to work for a bit & look forward to hearing back from both of you today. Hope you have a good one & I'll "talk" to you ladies more later.:)

Kel - I give you 2 weeks and you'll have all of the CC's. I know....I felt the same way about CC. I thought NO WAY will I ever like an audio...but tried it anyway. What is it about Sean is right!!! He's amazing. Gotta love him. He makes you want to push to your very limits and give him everything you got.........and he's not even in the room!! LOL. What a guy!! huh?? Sounds like you did slightly pull something. I'm not sure if yoga would hurt it....since it's functional fitness. Maybe you can try a down dog and see how it feels? or maybe you don't wanna risk it. I would probably try it....but that's just me.

Sorry, I remember you telling me about the TM now....duh....I forgot.

Jen - did you jog or run for 2 songs? I dont' think I could ever run for 2 songs....maybe jog. I'm such a wimp when it come's to running and jump rope. Jump rope is hard. I had 1 minute intervals in my circuit yesterday and I had to take a break. LOL.

Kel - after seeing that there are only couple volumes left for you to get, I give you 1 week!! LOL.

Just got back from the foot doctor. I have plantar fasciitis in both feet and because of it, I have already developed heel spurs in both feet.....geez! He definitely says the spurs are from the fasciitis ...not the other way around. I had cortisone injections in both feet and I have to go back in 3 weeks for orthotics....JOY!! Now I REALLY feel old!! Not like I'm not already having a severe ongoing midlife crisis already!!!

just me again!!! OYY!!

Jen - do you like Chris Cornell from Soundgarden (older days) and more recently AudioSlave? He just came out with a new solo CD called Carry On. I've been hearing songs on the Digital Rock station on cable TV and I like them....but they are a bit mellow for me......I'm wondering if you might like him. You can sample it at Amazon. You can also sample the INcubus one Light Grenades with that song Dig ...........or you can just play with your Ipod and download it. I wish I didn't have a crap compupter so I could download.

Hi ladies! Tonight's WO was Butts and Guts standing work premix. I can totally admit with no problem that this workout is WAY beyond my abilities at this point. I used the barbell when it called for it at the 35 pound weight, but did not use handweights on any of those exercises and still could not complete all the reps on many of the exercises. I did enjoy the Firewalkers and made it through all those and the exercise that comes after that. I am sure I will work up to this workout, but I don't really know how often I will do it. I think it was an excellent workout, but I did not enjoy it at all. It was torture. I'll see what the results are tomorrow-that may change my mind.

Lora-Wow, injections in your feet! Yikes! I hope it is worth it and it helps. Are you feeling any better or are you in the full-blown cold stage? At least it happened now instead of at the time of your Vegas trip. Good job on the soreness-sounds like you are working those circuits pretty hard. Jump rope is so hard to do as a continuous exercise. I could probably make it for a minute, but that would be my limit. Yes, I am alternating jogging (for 2 songs) then walking (for 1 song). No running yet, but I may get there by the end of the year. It's not a goal exactly, but I may find that is what is takes to get the weight off. I somehow seem to be more motivated to do cardio with the jogging. I am sure Coach Sean would work wonders for me, too! :* Thanks for the tip on the songs-I will check them out this weekend.

Kel-Sorry your arm is not any better. My advice would be to rest it entirely, but I am sure that is not what you want to hear. I think with anything else you may be risking further injury if you feel pretty certain it is a strain of some sort. If you do use it, you may be overcompensating by using other muscles to baby it along during some of the exercises that feel painful to that area-which can compromise your form and cause other problems. If it's minor, it may not take that long to heal up. x( You must be so aggrevated! x( Hang in there! Oh yeah...you've got to ask your DH for an iPod. I couldn't live without mine now. I am sure Lora's right, you will have the rest of those Cardio Coaches in no time! :)

Are you ladies following the blog? I am definitely going to preorder soon! I can't stand the excitement! :) :) :)
