Trying to Fit Yoga in for Thurs Sept 27

Morning Ladies -

This morning I did Cy-Yo Fire workout. I skipped the beginning yoga segment and did the cardio and ending yoga. Workout was 54" and I burned 349 calories. I then ended up doing the 10 minutes of yoga from the beginning of the workout cuz my back was still very stiff/sore.

I've really got to get over this depression from the recent occurrence in my life. I haven't wanted to get out of bed at all since it happened. However, I'm so upset by this that I honestly don't think I'll "get over it" until I get another job. I hope better times are ahead.

I really need to start fitting more Yoga in...but as mentioned above, depression is getting the better of me. I need to try and do some Classical Stretch for my low back. Something is really flaring up my pain.

Have great workouts everyone. I've got to do my neck stretches and go grocery shopping this morning.

Hi Lora & everyone else who may visit today!

This morning, I did the 53 minute KPC premix that doesn't include abs. I was feeling a bit sluggish at first because my DH & I stayed up too late last night (it's still so warm here that we took a dip in the pool & then got in the hot tub, watched the news, & didn't get in bed until 11:30) but once I got started, I really got into it & had a great workout. I really need to do some yoga & wanted to start doing it during lunch again but I ran out of the house & forgot my mat. Oh well... maybe tomorrow or next week then. I hope to fit some in over the weekend too so keep your fingers crossed for me...

Went to see my FIL last night & he's still improving slowly so he may get to come home soon. It's very obvious that this last episode has really take a toll, though, & I don't think he'll ever be the same or have the energy he did before but at least he's feeling better.

Lora - I'm so sorry for what you're going through. I don't really know what else to say except that I hope you find something soon & maybe fitting in some extra yoga will help too. Sending lots of hugs your way...

Yve - That sounds like a nice yoga studio. I'm not sure if any of the studios around here offer classes that might fit into my work schedule. I guess I need to look into it as that would fit into my life nicely. I'll let y'all know what I find out...

Christine - You haven't been around in a few days so I hope everything is okay.

Jen - You haven't been around either so I hope everything is okay with you too

Off to do some filing... fun, fun, fun - NOT... but I'll be back in a bit to see what's going on. Hi to anyone who may check in later & hope everyone has a great day!

Hi Kel-- thanks for your kind words. I don't mean to dwell on this....but sometimes it just helps to verbalize your feelings. The idea being to say it to someone and out loud and then to try and get over it. At least that's what they teach you in a 12 step program and it makes sense to me!

Which brings me to my confession. Just got home from grocery shopping and you know, that doesn't go well with depression. In a moment of weakness, I bought the Chocolate Lucky Charms .......which I'd never have known about if I didn't read Skwigg's blog!! Of course, as soon as I unpacked them, I measured a serving out (110 calories and 14 grams of sugar....not too terrible) but then I ended up eating another 1/4th cup....also not that bad....I guess. But, I bought 4 small chocolate chip cookies that I intend on eating later. Depression makes me want to sleep and eat bad stuff! I usually don't lose my motivation to workout....but that seems to have left the building lately. I need you ladies to help get me back on track. I need a rotation to get psyched about and some words of wisdom from all of you lovely ladies here.

I'm gonna take a drive downtown to see where my interview is on Monday. I like to be prepared and I've got nothing else to do !!

Anyone here like Ellen Barret? She just came out with a cardio/pilates DVD. I'm gonna check it out when I get back from my trip downtown. I used to love her Fat Burning Pilates tape. It's good for rest days or easy days. (jen - I know you like her....so I'll keep you updated).

Good Morning Ladies –

I’m finally back after DH being in the hospital, then me getting a bout of tummy flu. Not fun. I did Eoin Finn’s Power Yoga for Happiness 40 minutes Yoga Bliss this morning, along with C&W abs. I adore Eoin Finn – he’s soo cute! Might try to get in some kick boxing this afternoon. I just need to move. My poor baby (my dog Jimmy) is in to be neutered, so I’m a nervous wreck. I hope everything goes well.

Lora – Sorry to hear about the depression, but I absolutely understand it. I would be depressed too! I’m hoping the interview you have on Monday is the job for you! The Lucky Charms sound wonderful! There are worst things you can do and one day of bad eating will not hurt you. {{{HUGS)))

Kel – Have you been having the ups and downs temp-wise? We’ve gotten cold (and it even rained – and here in California it usually only rains in winter), then it was back up into the 90’s and now it’s supposed to be in the 80’s, with the rest of the week cooler. It’s so messed up! Hope it cools down for you! Glad to hear your FIL is feeling better and is slowly improving. Sorry to hear that he’ll probably not fully recover. That has to be tough on your DH, too. Yeah, everything is fine – I’ve just been sick and not feeling like doing much of anything.

Christine - is that Jimmy in the Avatar? He's too cute. I love my babies. If I didn't have them right now, I think I'd DIE. Not to be a Drama Queen or anything, but seriously.....sometimes they are the ones that pull me thru all of this crap life dishes out. Brookie was loving me up this morning and was in "sweetie" mode. That unconditional love they provide is just priceless!! I'm sure you're baby will do fine and be home being spoiled in no time!!

Back from my trip to the big downtown Y-town. The building is right in the center of town and is a brand new building with parking in the back on the street a block behind. At least I know where I'm going now.

Lora - Yes, that's Jimmy. He's such a sweet, loving dog. He will leap into my lap and just snuggle around for a belly rub (and at 47 pounds, that's a lot of dog to have leap into my lap). I hear ya, though, Lora. Life can dish out a lot of negative stuff. There is nothing like KNOWING that a warm furry body is anxiously waiting for you to be home so he/she can love on you. He's a very well behaved dog, but he is spoiled rotten. :p

Glad to hear you know where you're going!

Hi ladies! Popping in at lunch to see how everyone is doing. Time got away from me last night. We decided to fix Vegetable Beef soup, which we normally don't do during the week because it is rather time & labor intensive. Glad we did because it was great for lunch! I also previewed Arms and Abs of Barry's Bootcamp. Looks tough and intense! I may try one of them tonight if I don't go walking/jogging. I also previewed Ellen Barrett's Pick your Level Pilates. Man, the level 3 girl was very impressive! I am such a fan of the DVDs that show you options for each exercise. They are just so much more user friendly and seem like a better deal due to the modification options that are presented. My BPAL oils came in yesterday, too. I felt so bad about all the new DVDs I have ordered, that I gave all the oils to DH, even the samples.

Lora-Don't beat yourself up too badly! You are such a regular exerciser those cookies won't do you in. Relax & enjoy! Yep, I am a huge Ellen Barrett fan and would LOVE to hear about the workout. Good luck on your interview! The last job situation outcome was not at all your fault. They saw many good characteristics in you that I am sure other employers will see as well! :)

Yve-Step Blast & Seanne Corn-that's a really long workout! Sorry you were feeling wonky y'day. Feeling better today?

Christine-Glad you are back and feeling better. Awwwww..poor Jimmy! I am sure everything will be fine. I know how tough it is to take them in for procedures like that!

Kel-I haven't done KPC in ages! I really like that workout and need to pull it out again. Do you live close to FIL? Just wondering about the care he will need after he is finally released from the hospital. I imagine you will have to check in on him pretty frequently. Wow an 11:30 bedtime...I would be a walking zombie! Sleep seems to be more and more critical-if I am short even 30 minutes I really feel it the next day. Have you spoken to your yoga class friend yet?

Have a good rest of the day ladies! I will BBL.

Hi again ladies. Just got some great news. My FIL is being released from the hospital today. As I said earlier, he's definitely much weaker than before all of this happened & still not a well man but we're all very relieved that he's feeling better & I'm sure he'll feel even better once he's at home & in his own bed. Thanks again for all your positive thoughts & kind words. It really means a lot!

Christine - I just had to pop back in again when I saw that you were around. For goodness sakes, you've had a rough spell! Your DH in the hospital & then you with the tummy flu. But it sounds like DH is better & you're feeling better too so that's great news. Glad to see you back with us again! Yes, the weather has been very strange this year. It's been extraordinarily dry & hot this year but recently we've had a few drops into cooler temps only to have it go right back up into the 90s. I'm usually a summertime gal (originally from CA myself) but I am SO ready for fall this year. We could really use some rain too...

Lora - That cereal sounds yummy! I usually only have cereal on Saturdays so I tend to eat something healthy (I have Total Raisin Bran right now) & my DH eats "kids" cereal. Since we always have both kinds, sometimes I eat his "kids" cereal instead. I agree wtih Christine... I don't think you ate badly (after all, cereal is good for you!) & it definitely could have been a lot worse. About a rotation that would motivate you, I wish your foot was well enough that you could get outside & walk. That usually refreshes me. Do you have any workouts that just make you feel good & make you smile? I never stick with a preset month long rotation. Instead, I usually create one each week based on how my body is feeling & how I'm feeling mentally. In the meantime, enjoy the love you're getting from Brookie. I know that will do more to combat depression than anything! Glad you found where you'll be going on Monday too. That should help your day go a little more smoothly...

Speaking of furry friends, our little guy is still changing (in a positive way) nearly every day! He is so cute & funny & we just love him to pieces. I guess we've had him for about 7 months now so that would make him about 2 years old. He just started playing with toys last week & it's hilarious because he gets so worked up. We were starting to wonder if he would ever play but I guess he just finally got comfortable enough to start. Christine, Jimmy is such a cutie too & I bet you guys have the best time together.

Better scoot again for now but I'll be sure to pop back in later & see what's going on...

Jen - I guess we were posting at almost the same time. Those Barry's Boot Camp DVDs sound tough! Let us know what you think when you do one (if you can still move your arms & type - LOL). I love Ellen Barrett too but haven't done one of hers in quite some time. We live about 45 minutes away from the in-laws but the hospital where my FIL has been is located in the same town where we live so that's been very convenient for us. My MIL still works but the shop (she is a 65-year-old woman who works in a machine shop, believe it or not) is within walking distance to their house so I feel sure that they'll be just fine. Plus, she's already past retirement age so I'm sure she'd consider that if necessary. I guess we'll just need to take it a day at a time. I know what you mean about sleep. I guess time just gets away from us sometimes because my DH & I don't get to spend enough time together. My friend & I have been emailing - sending forwards & such - so I think things are okay.

Christine - Sorry i didn't say anything about Jimmy's procedure. I know how worried you must be but I'm sure he'll do just fine. Hang in there & let us know...

Gosh, I'm chatty today. I better go again but as you can tell, I'll probably be back later!:7

Kel - do you have a dog? was he from a shelter?

Brookie just came out from her nap and she's perched up on my leg getting some loving again. Oh....now she just jumped up in the chair with me. Seems like she knows I'm in need of some extra love this week.

Speaking of toys........Brooklyn has a very bad habit of taking all of her favorite ones in the basement where they get lost in the BLACK HOLE. I swear the laundry drain has seen one too many mice go down it's path. She loses at least 5 mice a day. She's a trip playing with them. She throws them up in the air and goes crazy. They are her favorites!

Also speaking of playing......I swear it took Hollywood, my middle child, forever to figure out how to play with a live cat. He never had a little brother or sister before and when we first got Brooklyn ...after he got over the shock of having a "new baby" in the house, he wanted so badly to play with her but he couldn't figure out how to go about it or how to instigate it. It was freakin' hilarious. He finally figured it out after a month or so and now they romp around the house freely.....I guess he's slow!

Well, I best go try to accomplish something for the day. I've been doing nothing since the grocery store this morning.

Hi Lora - Yes, Skippy is a dog. Sorry I didn't clarify that before. He's such a loving & sweet little guy. That's why I think he didn't want to play at first. All he wanted to do was love & be loved. We got him from a no kill shelter/foster home when he was about 1-1/2 years old about 7 months agot so he's about 2 years old now. We lost our other precious pooch during the holidays last year so he's brought a lot of joy back into our lives since we've had him.

I'm sure Brooklyn is giving you extra attention because she can sense that you're unhappy right now... & isn't that nice? I know it makes you feel better. I have no doubt that they can sense our feelings & moods. The other evening, my DH & I were both very stressed & took it out on each other for a few minutes. After we vented but really hadn't made up yet, I went upstairs & Skippy followed right behind me. It was like he was being protective & wanted to make sure I was going to be okay. What a sweetie! So enjoy all that attention you're getting... I'm sure you can use it right now!

I was LOL at the story about Hollywood. Thanks for the humor - I needed it this afternoon!:7

Thanks for the well wishes everyone! Jimmy is out of surgery and is awake! I can pick him up at 3:00 PDT. I'm so happy he's okay!

Nice to hear stories about other's pets! I love hearing about animals!

Great news, Christine... thanks for letting us know. I'm sure he'll be as excited to see you as you will be to go get him. Enjoy!:)

Hi everyone,

I am taking a rest day today....trying to catch up on housework - and some remnant unpacking. My allergies are acting up a bit - and feeling lethargic.

Lora - I am sorry you are feeling this way - but it is quite understandable.. Now is the time to indulge yourself though...try to fit in some yoga.. I think it will put you more at peace with things. And don't feel bad about the sweet indulgences....you work out really hard... really often - actually - all the time... You deserve a little treat now and then.

Kel - Great news about your FIL. You are right...the comfort of your own home is the best place to heal and recoup. I hope you find a studio. Would you not consider maybe just going to the Thursday night class on your own - w/o your friend?

Christine - sorry you were sick... Tummy flu is the absolute worst. Hope you are getting lots of fluids.... Nice that you did Eionn Finn today... It's a nice workout.

Jen - The pilates dvds sound interesting. I will have to look them up. The veggie soup sounds yummy. Do you do up alot of soup in advance and freeze them.. or do you do them when you need them?
I am thinking of preparing a bunch of soups and freezing lunch size portions.... Or at least make large batches of stock in advance... I love soup - but as you said - it is so time consuming.

Have a nice evening everyone.

Yve

Hi Yve! Good to see you but sorry to hear you're feeling a bit under the weather. My allergies have really been bothering me lately too. Hope you feel better soon. About the Thursday yoga class, that particular studio is inconsistent in their schedule. They will cancel on a whim (like if the instructor has other plans) & I won't find out until I'm already there, dressed & ready to go. I guess that may be one of the reasons my friend wanted to go while she could. Since there are other more reputable studios around my area, I thought it might be in my best interest to look around a bit more. But to answer your specific question... yes, I would go by myself but I would just hate to get all ready just to find out the class was cancelled after I arrived.

Yum - soup! It's getting to be that time of the year & I love it!

Take care everyone & see you tomorrow!:)

Hi ladies! Tonight's WO was Barry's Bootcamp Shoulders and Back. I was going to do the cardio (really, I was) but I ran out of time. It is going to take me a couple of workouts to get the weights right on these. I used 5s for all the shoulder exercises and 10s for the back exercises. In some places, the 5s felt too light, in others, too heavy. It felt pretty tough while I was doing the workout, but I am not feeling fried like I thought I would. It will be interesting to see how I am feeling tomorrow. The warm up is quite cardio intense-jumping jacks and running...thought I would pass out! I really like the music on this DVD and hope the rest of them are similar. Joey was the instructor for this one-he's a little too perfect for my type, but was still pretty easy on the eyes! :) The workout focuses on high reps-25 or more per exercise and includes a few giant sets for shoulders, back and abs. Sometimes you don't get to put the weights down between exercises and that really gets the burn going. Joey is not at all annoying-encouraging in a motivating but nice way. Not the typical screaming Bootcamp type of instructor. Based on this DVD I think I will enjoy the series quite a bit, but I could not see sticking with this for more than 2 weeks without feeling exhausted-particularly if I am doing their version of cardio, too. I was wondering how similar this series is to P90X. If it is similar, I could not see sticking to P90X for 3 months with no other instructors. No freakin' way!

Gotta run.....I need all the beauty sleep I can get. Also, Lenny has a chemo appointment in the morning and I have to drop him off before 7:30 a.m. Have a great night everyone!
