Morning (part time) Yogini's and Wannabee's!! - (I know...I haven't been doing enough yoga lately either).
I ended up doing my first Book Circuit from Jillian's First Book. I did 3 sets of 15 reps in each circuit:
Circuit 1 - Pushups & Squats with 40 lbs
Circuit 2 - DB Chest Flyes with 17 lb DBs & Sumo Squats with 25 lbs
Circuit 3 - Bench Dips & Leg Extensions (used my Ambiance door attachment and green & red bands doubled up with the ankle straps sitting in a chair - but it still wasn't enough resistance....must think about alternatives)
Circuit 4 - Lateral Raises with 10 lb DBs - dropped to 8's last few reps - 1 minute of jumping jacks and basic ab crunches with 12 lb DB
Circuit 5 - Tricep extensions with 10 lbs DBs - 1 min jump rope with 3 pound weights in hand and scissors with ankle weights (don't laugh at my puny weights.....I do the best I can with my injury). that part took 50 minutes and then I added on 20 min beginner workout from Kung Fu Kickboxing. Total workout was 1 hour 24" and I burned 478 calories. (I plan on adding 15 minutes of Cardio to each circuit like Jillian suggests in her second book...and you can bet the Kung Fu one will be in heavy rotation).
I also did Xflowsion Down Dog. It was a toss up between that or my Classical STretch Back Pain Relief since my low back is acting up ...well...my entire back actually.
Jen - do yourself a favor and do that Calm Down Dog some evening after work or some Sat or Sun later in the day. It's awesome and it's only 28" ....surely you have 28" to fit it in. I don't really follow Harry Potter....sorry...but I've seen all the movies. I ordered that Incubus CD ..so if it's good, I can burn it for you. It's more mellow than what I normally listen to ....so you might like it?? Have you ever heard that song Drive? by them it was real popular. I love that song.
Kel - Gee - favorite Cardio Coach....well - I like the easier ones!! LOL. They get harder the higher the numbers go. 1,2 and 3 are the easiest and then they progressivley get longer and harder. The intervals get longer also. I like the short sprints. I'm a wuss with running still, as my plantar fasciitis is flaring along with my sciatica and it makes my hammy's soooooooooooo tight. I'm a wimp and an old lady.
Oh ....speaking of old lady!! I'm doing a yoga experiment. I have my Avatar as a marker of my age at 47! Ravi & Ana say that doing shoulderstand daily with breath of fire is the "Fountain of Youth" and you'll never age if you do it daily....so every day (that this febile brain rememembers), I do it!! I'll let you ladies know if it works....well...between that and my antiaging serum and Eminence organic moisturizer, as well as keeping my porcelain complexion out of the sun! I'm so freakin' vain.....I know!!!
Later ladies --- gotta get ready to head over Mom's and run a ton of errands. Might go look for a shirt, but I'm not sure. Speaking of which...that Sinful shirt I have on in the Avatar (the pic does it no justice). It's sheer with metallic skulls all over it and then it has the Sinful logo on the front and the back is like the giant Sinful Angelwing spread ....really coool....and I wear a pink tunic cami under it. I also have a fuschia one I can wear under it with my Pink Converse' tennie's.....but I feel like I need something new! We'll see. ................blab...blab blab................me finished now!!!
Have a great day ladies........and I hope I didn't put y'all to sleep with my babbling......I'm still wound up from yesterday.
Sorry this is long -- just ignore the couple paragraphs about the Kickboxing workout if not interested)
I can't say enough good stuff about Kung Fu Kickboxing with Tiffany and Max Chen (Tiffany Leads and she rocks -- love her). For those interested: these 2 are martial arts champions and the workout incoroporates Shan Shou Boxing style with wrestling and kicking techniques that build strenght, speed, agility, endurance and reflexes of a fighter.....you'll get a heart-pumping workout that will tone your shoulders, arms abs, glutes and legs. Feel the burn and see results fast (from the back of the DVD). Has a basic routing 20", Kicker - 20" and Killer 20" with a separate stretch and warm up segment. (Example of some moves - straight punches swithcing stances (basic stuff), you do these neck exercises to strenghten the neck muscles (good for my injury - and they say they do it so they are able to take shots to the head), but my favorite move is fast feet and then you drop into a burpee and then come up and scissor your feet a few reps and then go back into fast feet and keep repeating, front kicks (jumping), knee and twist to side on balls of feet, etc.
Tiffany is very impressive. Her and her brother were trained by thier father who was a Grandmaster fighter and Tiffany has over 40 gold medals to her credit in martial arts competitions. Her brother is equally talented. They teach at their Father's studio in NYC. I'm going to Google them, as I need to write and tell them how much I enjoyed this workout and to please make more. The production quality is outstanding and the music is great. Top notch fighter workout and you'll feel hardcore!! HIghly recommend it and it's cheap at Amazon. ....okay 'nuff said.
Hi to everyone else and have great workouts. I've got to do some errand running and then go over my Mom's to help her with some stuff. She's doing much better .....walking with a horrid limp....but she's walking and it's painful....but she's on her way to being healed. She's in her 8th week and she should be fully healed at around 12 weeks.
Well I just totally hogged the Hardcore thread today and yesterday....so ...now I'll do the same over here!! LOL. Lots to say ..I guess I'm still bouncing off the walls about the concert! YOu don't know how hard it is for me to talk my DH into doing anything these days!! He only wants to sleep on the couch!!! LOL.
