Trying to Fit Yoga in for Fri July 6

lorajc

Cathlete
Morning (part time) Yogini's and Wannabee's!! - (I know...I haven't been doing enough yoga lately either).

I ended up doing my first Book Circuit from Jillian's First Book. I did 3 sets of 15 reps in each circuit:
Circuit 1 - Pushups & Squats with 40 lbs
Circuit 2 - DB Chest Flyes with 17 lb DBs & Sumo Squats with 25 lbs
Circuit 3 - Bench Dips & Leg Extensions (used my Ambiance door attachment and green & red bands doubled up with the ankle straps sitting in a chair - but it still wasn't enough resistance....must think about alternatives)
Circuit 4 - Lateral Raises with 10 lb DBs - dropped to 8's last few reps - 1 minute of jumping jacks and basic ab crunches with 12 lb DB
Circuit 5 - Tricep extensions with 10 lbs DBs - 1 min jump rope with 3 pound weights in hand and scissors with ankle weights (don't laugh at my puny weights.....I do the best I can with my injury). that part took 50 minutes and then I added on 20 min beginner workout from Kung Fu Kickboxing. Total workout was 1 hour 24" and I burned 478 calories. (I plan on adding 15 minutes of Cardio to each circuit like Jillian suggests in her second book...and you can bet the Kung Fu one will be in heavy rotation).

I also did Xflowsion Down Dog. It was a toss up between that or my Classical STretch Back Pain Relief since my low back is acting up ...well...my entire back actually.

Jen - do yourself a favor and do that Calm Down Dog some evening after work or some Sat or Sun later in the day. It's awesome and it's only 28" ....surely you have 28" to fit it in. I don't really follow Harry Potter....sorry...but I've seen all the movies. I ordered that Incubus CD ..so if it's good, I can burn it for you. It's more mellow than what I normally listen to ....so you might like it?? Have you ever heard that song Drive? by them it was real popular. I love that song.

Kel - Gee - favorite Cardio Coach....well - I like the easier ones!! LOL. They get harder the higher the numbers go. 1,2 and 3 are the easiest and then they progressivley get longer and harder. The intervals get longer also. I like the short sprints. I'm a wuss with running still, as my plantar fasciitis is flaring along with my sciatica and it makes my hammy's soooooooooooo tight. I'm a wimp and an old lady.

Oh ....speaking of old lady!! I'm doing a yoga experiment. I have my Avatar as a marker of my age at 47! Ravi & Ana say that doing shoulderstand daily with breath of fire is the "Fountain of Youth" and you'll never age if you do it daily....so every day (that this febile brain rememembers), I do it!! I'll let you ladies know if it works....well...between that and my antiaging serum and Eminence organic moisturizer, as well as keeping my porcelain complexion out of the sun! I'm so freakin' vain.....I know!!!

Later ladies --- gotta get ready to head over Mom's and run a ton of errands. Might go look for a shirt, but I'm not sure. Speaking of which...that Sinful shirt I have on in the Avatar (the pic does it no justice). It's sheer with metallic skulls all over it and then it has the Sinful logo on the front and the back is like the giant Sinful Angelwing spread ....really coool....and I wear a pink tunic cami under it. I also have a fuschia one I can wear under it with my Pink Converse' tennie's.....but I feel like I need something new! We'll see. ................blab...blab blab................me finished now!!!

Have a great day ladies........and I hope I didn't put y'all to sleep with my babbling......I'm still wound up from yesterday.

Sorry this is long -- just ignore the couple paragraphs about the Kickboxing workout if not interested)
I can't say enough good stuff about Kung Fu Kickboxing with Tiffany and Max Chen (Tiffany Leads and she rocks -- love her). For those interested: these 2 are martial arts champions and the workout incoroporates Shan Shou Boxing style with wrestling and kicking techniques that build strenght, speed, agility, endurance and reflexes of a fighter.....you'll get a heart-pumping workout that will tone your shoulders, arms abs, glutes and legs. Feel the burn and see results fast (from the back of the DVD). Has a basic routing 20", Kicker - 20" and Killer 20" with a separate stretch and warm up segment. (Example of some moves - straight punches swithcing stances (basic stuff), you do these neck exercises to strenghten the neck muscles (good for my injury - and they say they do it so they are able to take shots to the head), but my favorite move is fast feet and then you drop into a burpee and then come up and scissor your feet a few reps and then go back into fast feet and keep repeating, front kicks (jumping), knee and twist to side on balls of feet, etc.

Tiffany is very impressive. Her and her brother were trained by thier father who was a Grandmaster fighter and Tiffany has over 40 gold medals to her credit in martial arts competitions. Her brother is equally talented. They teach at their Father's studio in NYC. I'm going to Google them, as I need to write and tell them how much I enjoyed this workout and to please make more. The production quality is outstanding and the music is great. Top notch fighter workout and you'll feel hardcore!! HIghly recommend it and it's cheap at Amazon. ....okay 'nuff said.

Hi to everyone else and have great workouts. I've got to do some errand running and then go over my Mom's to help her with some stuff. She's doing much better .....walking with a horrid limp....but she's walking and it's painful....but she's on her way to being healed. She's in her 8th week and she should be fully healed at around 12 weeks.

Well I just totally hogged the Hardcore thread today and yesterday....so ...now I'll do the same over here!! LOL. Lots to say ..I guess I'm still bouncing off the walls about the concert! YOu don't know how hard it is for me to talk my DH into doing anything these days!! He only wants to sleep on the couch!!! LOL.

Hi Lora, Jen, & anyone else who may peek in today!

This morning, I did the Compound & Heavy Weights premix on Cardio & Weights & I also added on the cardio only portion of High Step Challenge. I wanted something shorter but still intense & that worked perfectly. I'm so glad it's Friday but I'm not so glad that I'll be helping my DH clean out a crawl space tomorrow. Ick! Oh well, I guess I just need to put on my big girl panties & deal with it. At least we're really making some progress on the property & the neighbors are starting to make some nice comments too.

Jen - It would be great to see pictures of the Atlanta GTG! I hope you have a great time & I hope to meet some of you someday too.

Lora - Wow, you sure had a lot to say this morning! Great workout, as usual too. Glad your mom is starting to do better... please continue to keep us updated. Oh, let us know how it goes with the yoga experiment too.

Well, it's nearly time to go so I'll sign off for now. I'll try to peek in from home over the weekend if I get a chance. Oh yeah, I plan to download my Cardio Coach workouts over the weekend & try them out next week so I'm pretty excited about that. Hope you ladies have a nice weekend & I'll "see" you later!:)

Kel - *blushing*.....I'm totally embarrased about my babbling post! Sorry it was so long....that's what happens when you have a Transcription background and are wound up about stuff!! with my nervous personality.

I ended up buying a new Sinful shirt. It's really cool....black and royal blue with Cherub type angels on it. I also bought a pair of really comfortable Diesel shoes from Journey's....since last time we went to Vegas, my plantar fasciitis never did calm down from wearing my Converse tennies (no arch support).

I'll shut up now.

Hi ladies! Today is my rest day. I weighed in this morning and lost 1.5 pounds, which is good, but it was all lean muscle mass burned. I think I am okay with it. I think my body fat % will end up going up as I lose weight and that may be inevitable. Also, it was interesting because I did more jogging this week and it paid off. Looks like I am going to have to become a total cardio convert for awhile. I am trying to figure out if I can lift very heavy instead of doing endurance based and keep jogging, maybe I will still lose weight and keep my lean muscle mass. There's got to be a way to do it, I just can't seem to figure out what that is. I got Self's Sculpt Sexy Legs Fast in the mail from Netflix. I previewed it and it looks pretty good! They recommend doing the workout three times per week. Have either of you ladies ever worked legs three times a week? For me, that might just be a fate worse than cardio! LOL! I also received my order from B&N which contained Prevention Fight Cellulite Fast (thanks for the recommend, Lora), The Firm Ultimate Fat Burning Workout, and Prevention Slim, Strong, and Firm. I am excited to try the latter because it got good reviews on Collage Video and it has resistance band work, which I really enjoy.

Lora-You are so funny! The tee shirt you got sounds cool! Do any of the online stores carry it? That workout you did this morning sounds good! I am not one to laugh about puny weights. I will occasionally do lunges with 3's because they burn so much. That is my least favorite exercise. That is interesting about the Kung Fu Kickboxing....I will have to check out Amazon. Glad your mom is doing much better! How is Brooklyn? I bet she is growing up fast! I like your posts regardless of the length. That was funny that you put yoga wannabe's...that is speaking to me right now, too!

Kel-I love the big girl panties comment! LOL! Sounds like you have yet another busy weekend planned. Hope you can pop in on us! It is nice that you and your DH spend a lot of time together, even on the weekends. That was a nice workout combination you put together this morning-very creative-I wouldn't have thought of that! I hope you enjoy your Cardio Coaches! They sound so good I almost wish I had a treadmill. I have read you can use them outside, too but I am not good with improvising.

Have a great night!

Jen

Jen - I also have Slim, Strong and Firm and Sculpt Sexy Legs Fast....but haven't done them yet! I'm wound up again tonight. I think I'll need to take something to fall asleep! Oyy!! Great job on the weight loss. My Mom commented on how much I eat the other day (since I've been eating lunch over there with her every day) and I feel like a porker. She said I'm going to get "big as a house". She eats a half of a sandwich for lunch! I'd die.

Buckle is where I usually shop and they do have an online store. Have you ever checked their clothes out? (www.buckle.com) They are very unique and original. My style........but I'm not sure what your style is. I like funky/chic sort of punkish rock stuff....sort of. Hard to explain my style, but I like comfortable style like Doc Marten's. Buckle sells the most amazing tee's by Sinful, Manchester and Obey. They rock. I also LOVE LOVE their Silver Jeans. I have about 3-4 pairs, but one pair is too small. They are a bit on the expensive side $70 to 80 for jeans and $30 to 50 for tee's.

I looked online and they have job openings in the store at our Mall full time. I'm going to apply online tomorrow. I think I'll go to my Mom's and do it cuz the girl in the store said it takes about 45 minutes and I have a phoneline modem and at least Mom has Net Zero and her computer works better than mine. I think I'd be really good at selling their clothes since I love them, am passionate about them and I think I have a pretty good sense of style, etc. I always wanted to be in retail, but my Mom wanted me to be a secretary in the medical field. I figure I'll give it a try and who knows....maybe I'll like it. My DH is NOT happy about it. He doesn't want me working weekends and evenings and I know it would be a huge change for me, but we'll see what happens with an office job in the meantime.....but so far...no calls for all of the ads I've been answering. I'm starting to accept that my life might be changing a LOT. Oh well, such is life.

I better quit going on again. When you figure out the secret formula to losing fat and no muscle, please let me know!!! Oh and Cardio Coaches are HARD!! although, you really can do them at your own level, but Sean is so motivating that he makes you try your hardest!!

Here's a link to a couple of the Sinful tee's and Silver Jeans:

I have the Lola Silver Jeans and the Aiko ones and I have the one Sinful shirt Grace with the metallic foil logo. I want that twisted Love one also, but I need to make some more money online first.
