I was on the web site with spinervals and they also had dvds for treadmill workouts. Has anyone tried these? I was thinking of getting some. they said they could help with your 5k and 10k times.

Hi, Laura! I SO DO NOT need to come back and read responses to this question! LOL. I've been trying NOT to buy treadervals (or runervals or whatever)! I just can't spare the extra money right now.

Here's what I've been doing instead. When I want to run intervals on the treadmill, I pop in one of Cathe's interval workouts, like any of the IMax DVDs or Boot Camp. I run a regular training pace during the step sections (or weight sections) and sprint at a faster pace for the intervals. For Boot Camp, I actually paused the TM, jumped off, and did the core/ab work when it came up. It's been working.

Someone had suggested this to me a long time ago and I finally got around to trying it out!

I have been doing intervals on mine own a little. today I did warm up 5 min. 5 min up to 6mph and then i jumped it up to a 8 1/2 min pace, did that for 6 min and then recovered bumped it up to 7 1/2 min pace for 3 minutes ,recovered bumped it up to 6min pace 30 sec only. wow was that fast!!! thought i was gonna fly right off the treadmill. anyway, they are called runervals, iactually went back on the site and checked them out again. the vhs are only 12.50. I am like you though, I still want so many of cathe workouts, plus the P90x, and now the runervals also. but i am preparing for a 1/2 marathon in may, I want my time to be better this year. plus for some up coming 5ks.

You know what, Laura? You may want to check out the most recent issue of Runner's World Magazine. I subscribe and just got the newest issue yesterday. They have a really good section in there devoted to the half marathon, including info on a 3 day training program, details on how to work your own intervals and tempos, etc.

I am also training for a half marathon, mine is Runner's World half in April. I found this issue to be really helpful. It also had a section of yoga moved designed specifically for the runner!

I hope I helped a little bit.

thanks, I get runners world but havent gotten my new issue yet. I probably will soon. do you feel like 3 days is enough running for a 1/2? I only did 3 days on my last 1/2 and didnt feel it was enough for me. but i really didnt have much on base running prior to that though ,maybe that was my problem. thanks, thats what i like about this thread. you always learn something new from people like you. definately helps!!
