tip for ab exercise

I finally found the way to feel this exercise while having good form...I am talking about the one where your feet are up in the air and you lower your legs to the right back up center and then down left like a windshield wiper. when I lower my legs to the right, I bend my right leg and keep my left leg straight, then when I raise my legs back to center, I push against my left leg slightly with my right leg. this way I am able to lower my legs more without sacrificing the form.
