Thoughts on myplate

I'm taking a nutrition class this summer and found that the food pyramid has been replaced by "MY PLATE". It seems much easier to understand, in my opinion. The website is ChooseMyPlate.gov

My nutrtion class has changed my eating habits. I cut meat out of my diet and am feeling much more energized and am no longer suffering from chronic inflammation in my shoulder. So far, I'm using lentils, quinoa, nuts, and beans for my protein sources. I'm lactose intolerant so I don't eat dairy anyways. Any suggestions on combinations of protein and carbs would be appreciated.

Anyway just thought I'd share the myplate information and get some input from the educated crowd.
