Thirsty!!!

I'm not normally one to stop and drink in the middle of a cardio workout. I don't like the swish swish of water in my belly when I'm bouncing around. I normally have a glass about 10 mins prior to workout and then a big glass after, and another glass after my shower. However since starting STS, I am dying for a drink in the middle of my cardio workouts. Everything else feels fine, but I am THIRSTY!!!!! The length/intensity of the cardio hasn't changed. I've also lost a few pounds, but that was intentional, and I can see more muscle definition. I am wondering if I am losing fat and gaining muscle, is that extra muscle requiring that much extra water to get thru an hours worth of cardio. But it would seem like I would need to gain a whole lot of muscle for that, and its only been 4 weeks of STS. I sweat like crazy, but that is nothing new. I'm not anymore thirsty during the day, so I don't think anything is medically wrong. What's up with needing the extra beverage all of a sudden, and is this happening to anyone else? I'm thinking STS probably isn't the culprit, its just coincidence. Do I just drink up and keep on going? Ignore it and keep on going?

Help?

Not sure what the difference is from but I would drink if your thirsty.

I am always drinking during a workout. Not huge gulps but sips every now and then.

Always wondered how people can make it through a workout without drinking. Depending on the workout I can go through 8-24 ounces of water. I always have a water bottle with me during my workouts.

Hi Nan!
I'm not sure why this is happening to you all of a sudden, but I say you should definitely drink if you are thirsty. I take sips throughout my cardio (never big gulps to avoid that "swish swish" feeling you described :p) But I've read that once you are thirsty, it means you are already dehydrated. I'm not sure how true that is, but I try to drink at least 64 ounces throught an entire day. I keep my bottle with me and just keep sip, sip, sipping so I'm never really "thirsty". Maybe overall you haven't been drinking enough? I wouldn't worry though, just keep hydrating!

I personally can never make it through cardio without downing tons of water by the end!
