The "Fat Chick" wins

Ok, I'm going to go on a bit of a rant here. I work in small office w/ 5 other woman, who, except for 1, are smaller than me. I'm about a size 14, but I'm working on it!!! If I can keep up with Cathe, then I figure I'm doing ok. I've got the exercise thing down, I'm working on the eating part. But anyway, the other's are always griping and moaning about fat they are and how they'd like to lose weight and are cutting back, by eating "only 2 pieces of fried chicken" or "only 1 full fat yogurt" or turkey bacon. Or only "fat free"candy. When you eat the whole family size bag of twizzlers in one day it doesn't matter how much fat is in it!!!!! Then there's the one who only eats veggies. And wonder why her butt keeps getting bigger - it could be the dressing she drowns them in(split her pants the other day - I almost died!!!) They won't take any nutritional advice from the "fat chick". Never mind that the fat chick has recently lost 11 lbs. We all went for a walk the other day at lunch time, maybe about a mile or mile and half - not too far. I'm walking a fast paced walk, just bouncin' along lalalala and by the time we get back to the office they are all huffin' and puffin' like they just ran the Boston marathon. And I'm breathing like I've been doing nothing. I just wanted to give them a big NYAH NYAH NYAH!!!! I don;'t think they belive me when I tell them I work out most days for an hr or little more. The "fat chick" is in much better shape than the thin ones. Don't get me wrong, they are all very nice, very cool people. But this incident made me smile. (So I'm a little evil inside)

Hooray!!!!!! One thing though. Stop referring to yourself as the "fat chick" I know you don't mean anything by it, but I truly believe in the power of thinking and that is a negative thought. Get rid of it ;)

RE: The

I agree with Catherine. Don't refer yourself as the "fat chick". Size 14 is the American average by the way. Listen I *know* what you're going through. My date was Jan 10, 2006. I started changing my diet and everybody was rolling their eyes at me because they thought I was going to stay in my average size forever. I've always been an avid exerciser but my problem was that I was eating way too much. I narrowed it down to 3 full meals, 3 snacks. Snacks were about 100-150 cals, meals were about 500 cals (lower if I didn't exercise) and I tried to make better food choices. Complex carbs intead of simple, tons of fiber, veggies, cereals, lean protein, etc. You probably know which ones are good for you so pick those. Today I'm almost my ideal body weight, I still have 10lbs to go and all those people that rolled their eyes at me last year are asking how I did it. Just weeks ago I said to someone: "Remember when I was reading the book The 3 Hour Diet and I was talking about it and you rolled your eyes at me? Well I never quit that plan. I changed my diet forever since January of last year. I lost what I wanted to lose and then some. Now you're the one paying expensive plans because you're looking for a quick fix." Did I feel bad back then when she did that to me? Of course, I felt exactly like you. Did I feel bad when I said that to her? No. People need to stop acting like that when someone is overweight. Just because you have a couple of pounds to lose it doesn't mean you don't know about dieting. Maybe you're not practicing what you preach, but that doesn't mean that what you preach can be a good thing. Congratulations on your weight loss and keep it up. In a year from now you'll be exactly where I am.
