good workout, haven't run on the treadmill for a while. Last time I did HIIT I did level 11, so I'm happy with todays workout even though I had to knock down the last sprint.

===============================

Melissa: fun workout yesterday! I've seen that also on the jersey shore website, but haven't had the chutzpah to try it! way to go!

Gayle: hope you enjoyed your rest day and got a nice haircut!:)

Jane: great workout yesterday, how'd it go? How is your week at your parents going? (I think you said you were there this week...?)

Marcy: I hope line dancing was fun.... what am I saying?? Of course it was fun!!!:) More importantly, I hope you had a great time with your friend from NY!! Is she visiting for the weekend? I start school for "in house" days on Sept. 1 -3 then we don't go back till the 7th, the 8&9th of Sept is parent/child orientation and then the first day of school is the 10th. I'm really enjoying my summer and not quite ready to go back yet. Although in 3 weeks it may be a different story, but I don't think so;) I'm surprised you didn't order Insanity, that seems like something you would enjoy!

Rhonda: Now I understand your need for patience vibes. Please send your DH ((((hugs)))), and of course you!! That must be very frustrating to go thru- going thru your parents household things, and to want your parents by you to help take care of and they refuse. I can understand they also don't want to be a burden, but I think you and your DH would have happily undertaken the responsibility. A hard situation all the way around.

waves to Tammy, Laura and Andilynn!!!
Happy Friday everyone!!

Good morning!

Deanie - Nice HIIT workout! I think if I ever tried level 11 on a treadmill I'd be flung up against the wall! :p

Rhonda - Sending more {{{hugs}}} to you and your DH.

Marcy - Have a great visit with your friend! What kind of line dancing did you do?

Waves hello to Jane, Laura, Melissa and Tammy!!

I'm taking some R&R next week so won't be on the boards. If I don't get back for more personals, everyone have a great week!

:):):):)HAPPY FRIDAY!!:):):):):)

Hi Everyone,

I liked the workout I made up yesterday. It took me about 30 minutes to complete. It was a pretty simple concept, took up a small about of space but the heart rate was racing. It was hot, hot, hot without a hint of a breeze but I didn't have to worry about any storms popping up.

Tonight will be Core Max because I have a 5K race tomorrow.

Deanie ~ Good Job on the sprints this morning! My week at mom and dad's has been good. Tonight is my last night. Dad has been a little off this week. We keep track of his moods on a calendar with a :) for good days, a :( for bad days and a  for a little of both. I think we have more  this week than anything else. He has been wandering at night lately and wakes mom up at night. This is our biggest issue right now but mom won't let us sleep in the room with dad. So I worry about my mom getting her rest but she is a big napper so she gets some sleep during the day.

Gayle ~ Enjoy your rest day!

Marcy ~ Hope you had fun at your line dance class last night. It sounds like fun!

Rhonda ~ {{{hugs to you and your DH}}}! I can totally relate to your DH's feelings. I felt similar feelings with my mom and my dad's care. I thought she needs to be doing this and not that. I have really worked hard on not judging her choices. She is 75 years old and I have not lived her life. I have not been married for 52 years, I did not have to put my mother in a nursing home and I did not watch my MIL being abused by a caretaker. So I'm learning some great lessons along this journey. I'm all about being supportive to her needs and helping in any way I can. Is it hard sometimes? Absolutely...but I have learned to leave my judgments or in my case, ego at the door. My sister and BIL have anger issues toward to mom because years ago they offered to pay for Long Term Care Insurance for my mom and dad and my parents refused. My sister is very angry that they did not accept the offer. The thing is even if my parents had the insurance, my mom wouldn't put him in a nursing home. My BIL realizes that but my sister has not.

Anyway, I hope you get your workout in today!

Waves hello to Melissa, Laura and Tammy!

Good Afternoon!

gayle: enjoy your r&r. are you going anywhere or doing anything exciting/special?

jane: sorry you didn't have more :)'s this visit. my dad also was wandering around the house at night. does your mom have an alarm system? i wouldn't want your dad to be wandering around at night outside and get scared! we were worried about that with my dad. the decision to put him in a home came when it was more a decision about my mom and her health and what she could handle. your mom is so lucky/fortunate to have you and your sisters. i also would totally support my moms decision whatever that is.i'm sure she appreciates your support. glad you liked your workout yesterday and GOOD LUCK in the race tomorrow!!! go get 'em lion!! (I would say tiger, but you are lioness in your screen name ;))

i finished pavels book power to the people this afternoon. really good book! at first i was ticked since it isn't hardcover and its kinda thin and has lots of pictures in it. i was wondering why i was paying $35.00 for it. but wow!
was it worth it. basically the book says you can gain strength with only doing 2 sets of 3-5 reps of both the deadlift and the press (you can do any press exercise you want) his big thing is don't go to muscle failure and when doing these lifts you need to have full body muscle tension. there is more, much more and its really informative, but these are the highlights. if you check out the crossfit 603 program they started last week, it is pavels: pttp (power to the people) after i was done reading the book, i really felt like it was worth the money and then some. i can see myself referring to it again and again. i highly recommend it; not just for the deadlift program, but also for why we aren't getting the results we want.....(sorry to be an enabler again;))

Hello All!

I did Tear It Up today. Wasn't able to do the whole thing since I got home a little late last night and couldn't get myself going this morning. I did up my weights on a few things though.

Upright row - 7# (up 2#), bent-over row (8#), standing chest press (8#), rotator cuff (8s then went to 7s (up 2#), W-press (7#) (up 2#), reverse fly (7# - up 2#), bicep curls - (7#, up 2#), tricep overhead extension (7# - up 2#)
Cardio: knee pull, uppercut and front punch, side lunge with toe touch, knee pull in low lunge position, jog, jack
Squat, squat + knee up, lunge, dead lift, plie squat, calf raise - all 8#
Cardio: front kick + back kick, side kicks, plyo squats, jog, jack

Front raise + pull back (7#, up 2#), chest pull-up (5#), side raise (5#),
bicep curl, hammer curl, wide bicep curl (all 5#)
reverse fly (straight arm), tricep kickback - 5#

Squat, ski squat, low end squat - 5#
Dead lifts, one-legged dead lifts - 10#
Plie squat, calf raise - 5#

Cardio: burpees, fast run, jog, jack
Upper body with tubing: one-arm row, bicep curl, overhead press, side raise, tricep overhead extension

Didn't do last leg series or abs.

Deanie - Great workout! Yes, line dancing was fun. Haven't done it in awhile because I just got bored since they repeated stuff too much but it was nice or a change. It was actually just a review for me but my friend had a great time. She's just coming back from a knee injury so it was just the right speed for her. After dancing, we went out to dinner. Had a great time. It was nice seeing a friendly face again. I definitely plan on getting Insanity but I am getting Shock Cardio so hopefully that will hold me until I can afford Insanity. They sound great and most people are seeing good results. Your school schedule sounds the same as they have in NY. Down here, they've already started. Are your boys looking forward to going back? What grades are they going into?

Rhonda - Patience vibes coming your way! (((((((HUGS))))))) to you and your DH! I feel like DH and I will have a similar problem soon. We begged DH's aunt to come live with us but she refused. She is a pack rat and we will have tons of stuff to go through. She had a fall a few months back and luckily a neighbor found her and called an ambulance. She's back home now but is finding it harder to get around and doesn't really get out much without her neighbor's help. Her neighbor actually helped clean her apartment when she was at rehab but I'm sure there will be plenty to take care of.

Jane - Good luck with your race tomorrow! At least you have more  days than :( days. You're doing a great job helping your parents.

Gayle - Hope you have some fun and relaxing time off.

Waves to Tammy, Andilynn, Laura and Melissa!

Gayle ~ Enjoy your R&R. Hope you do something fun and relaxing.

Deanie ~ My parents don't have an alarm so that's a good idea. Right now he hasn't ventured that far. He doesn't walk really well so I'm not sure how far he'd get without falling. I'm more worried about my mom than my dad at this point. She is 11 years younger and although she is 75 she is in relatively good health. At some point we'll have to make a decision about help or putting him somewhere but for right now it's working.

Thanks for the information on Power to the People. One of my friends loaned me his disc with ebooks on it and he has about 6 or 7 of Pavel's books on there. I haven't had time to go through them all. I don't think pttp is on there but I love his stuff.

Marcy ~ When my aunt passed away in 2007 we had a job of clearing her house. She was a pack rat. Her garage was filled with so much stuff, you could barely park a car in there. She passed away in mid July of 2007 and we had her house cleared and sold by mid September. We were there every weekend throughout the summer. It was quite a chore!

Hope everyone has a great Friday evening!

Hi Everyone!

I went back to heavy weights this week, with some KB Swings thrown in on cardio days...nothing like IM#3 with KB work as the blasts ;)

I got a promotion at work, so my time here will be very limited. I will try to keep up with all your workouts, but my posting may be limited to weekends only.

Today was a rest day, and tomorrow AOS Newport is on the rotation. My goal is to finish each and EVERY round no matter how long it takes....:eek::confused:

Hi all. Again, thanks for the encouragement.

Spent time on the phone with AMEX today trying to close FIL's acct. This is the 5th time that I have had to call. It just put me in a bad mood today. I didn't exercise but I WILL be back on track tomorrow.

Deanie- Great job with your dreadmill workout! Sounds like I may purchase PTTP. I really want to get consistent with my workouts. I will be able to do this when school starts.

Jane- Go get em girl. Good luck on your race tomorrow. I know you will do us proud ( OMG- I sound like a Texan). Time to move:p. Heres hoping you have more :) than:confused: with your Dad.

Gayle- Enjoy your R & R !

Marcy- Sending patience vibes back your way. Going through other peoples things makes me want to have very little material objects. I am starting to look around my house to find things to get rid of. Glad you had a good visit with your friend.

Tammy- Congrats on your promotion and good luck with Newport.

Melissa- I like that card workout you posted. Maybe I could just use my Uno cards. Wait, there are way too many of those:p.

Have a great weekend ladies.

Hey, I only have a moment to post since my nephew is here.

First of all, I just want to say to Rhonda, I am so sorry for what you and your husband are dealing with where his parents are concerned. I can imagine how difficult this must be for both of you to go through. I send you my sincerest and most heartfelt thoughts and prayers. It also extends to Jane and the rest of those here who are dealing with difficult situations with parents and in-laws.

I didn't work out today, just a walk with the dog. We did about 2.5 I think.

I will catch up on everything tomorrow... well, maybe tomorrow. If is isn't raining we are going to take the kids to the Indiana dunes, so at the very least I will get to it on Sunday. :)

Melissa
