---Swingin' Kettlebellers Tuesday--->

Cathlete
Good Morning!!

Today was SIM again. I really like this workout! I raised my weights for the barbell get up sit up and the windmill to 35#. Doing the bb get up sit up at 35# is HARD!!! I only got 2 reps in, in 30 seconds; as compared to my usual 7 reps in 30 seconds with 30#!! something to work towards....

my workout:
SIM
month 1 week 4 day 2

warm up:
dfd#6
2 rounds
swing
squats
halos
20#kb

SIM
same weights for all exercises except:
barbell get-up sit up: 35# (but went from doing 7 with 30#, to only 2 today!!)
windmill: 35# (up from 30#) did 4L/4R

15 seconds rest between exercises!!

all pushups on toes:
pushup: 17
military: 22
staggered: 20
total:59

added:
swings with Bertha:
5 minutes of...30 seconds on/ 30 seconds off:
set 1: 21 swings
sets 2-5: 20 swings

NOTES:
*good fun workout today
*disappointed at how hard 35#bb get up sit up is, it was so easy at 30#
*dropped kb during the figure 8 to a hold today during the pass between the legs!!
*alternating clean and dip with the 20#kbs is NOT getting easier!!

Rhonda: How'd the cleaning go? I wish I could get motivated to clean!! I just wave to the little dust bunnies as I pass them!! LOL When do you go back to work?

Marcy: Another great workout! How long have you been doing the slim series? and are you still enjoying it?

Jane: hope your rest day was nice!

Melissa: How do your arms feel today?

Gayle: Hope you are having fun!!!

waves to everyone else!!
Have a great Tuesday everyone!!

Hey, just have a quick moment to check in during lunch break.

I ran this am on the treadmill. I timed it for 25 minutes (I think it turned out to be about 2.6 miles). I would run like a mad woman for one song and then do a minute of walking. I never ran on less than a 3% incline (was mostly on 4%) or 6.5 mph, and on some songs I would sprint at 7-8mph on 3% and on some I would run on hills at a slower speed... I kinda made it up as I went along and didn't keep track of anything, but I felt smoked at the end. My hammies hate me. ;)

Deanie, my arms are sore today! Great job on upping the weight for GUSU; even though you only did 2 it DOESN'T MATTER, you worked your butt off and you are pushing yourself - that is what counts. :)

Will be back later. :)

Hi all. Yesterday I did Low Max premix 4-7 and promptly consumed all the calories I burned off. We had a driveway gathering with some of the neighbors last night. We meet in the driveway since we have front entry garages. It was actually fun. I drank a couple of margaritas.

Deanie- I go back to work on Monday. I am so sad ( happy to have a job but sad to have to deal with traffic and non drivers). Cleaning went well and I am about to go drop stuff off at the dump. Still have a way to go though. I could see Jabba when you told me what it was.

Way to go on SIM. What motivated me was an article in Shape. Most of the stuff in there is kind of useless but this lady said to eliminate the word should and replace it with want. I told myself that I want to clean my house and for some reason it worked.

Melissa- I can't believe your kids are back in school already. Do you have the house all to yourself or do you homeschool. I can't remember.

Another tip Lisa gave me was to use these gloves for training.

Be back later.

Break time!

Rhonda, I home school the boys (K and 5th) and my daughter (7th) is in middle school. The public school started y'day, and to keep up with the neighborhood kids and friends we are going to stay on their schedule. We get out before Memorial Day, though. WOOHOO! I would have home schooled DD this year along with the boys but she got into a really good program at the public school and there is something else I couldn't give her that they can - and she needs it! It is called "being around people all of the time - just not my family." She is an excellent student, but she is soooooooo bored here at home. ;)
How awesome that you got a private kb session! I actually looked up kettlebell instructors in my area after you mentioned this and found... INDIANAPOLIS HAS A CROSSFIT!!! I am so excited, you don't even understand!!! http://indycrossfit.com/ Unfortunately it is on the complete opposite side of town that I'm on, but still... :D
You know what, "want" is a much better would than "should", I agree. You "should" do lots of things but saying that makes it feel more like an obligation and a ball & chain, and for some reason that makes you feel completely rebellious. But I have a question... when you say you "want" to clean something do you ever catch yourself in a lie? :p

See you all later :)

Hi Everyone!

Yesterday I ended up at the pool but I didn't swim 1000 laps. I just floated around and visited with friends. It was SO nice!!!

Today I going to go on a HOT run. The heat index is 102 degrees!!!

Deanie ~ Don't be disappointed with your GUSU. You have to start somewhere. Keep pushing yourself and you'll get to where you want to be.

Melissa ~ Great run today!! How cool that Indy has a Crossfit!! There are 2 near where I work.

Marcy ~ I've previewed all of the Insanity workouts and they look great! There was one recovery workout that I didn't really connect with but the rest were great. Can't wait to do more!! I plan on incorporating some of the drills into my backyard workouts!!

Hi Rhonda! :)

Waves hello to the rest of the crew!!

Good Afternoon!

Did Shape It Up today. Skipped most of floor abs and last arm series but still had a great workout. Put on 3# ankle weights for whole workout after warmup. Only used 2# ankle weights last time and only for floorwork. Also used 2# for standing core work.

Squats, squat/front kick, dips, dip/front kick – 8# (up 2#), deadlifts - 10#
Standing core work: side reaches (used 2#), side bends
Standing chest work (8# - up 3#), bent-over rows (10# - up 2#), upright row – 8# (up 3#)
Standing core work: waist twists, twists/punches, side bends (used 2#)
Arnold press, overhead press, reverse fly – 8# (up 3# on press and 1# on fly)
Leg abductions, squat/side kick, standing inner thigh work, plie squat/calf raise – 3# ankle weights
Standing core work: side crunches, oblique crunches - 2#
Biceps/triceps: curls, kickbacks (8# - up 1#)
Standing core work: knee pulls, twists, uppercut punches - 2#
Standing leg curls, floor exercise for quadriceps
Chest/triceps (floor): chest fly, chest press, pullovers, tricep press – all 10# (up 2#); pullovers – started with 10s, went to 8s and then down to 5s.
skipped abs except for some in and outs
inner and outer thigh work series

Deanie - You still had a great workout! 5# is a big difference. I'm still enjoying Slim Series (and I'm not bored with it yet!) I'm about 2 1/2 weeks in. I think now that I'm upping my weights, I'll hopefully start seeing a difference.

Jane - I can't believe you're running today! The air is so thick where I am you can barely breathe. I'm glad you're happy with the Insanity workouts. I knew you would be.

Farmer - I agree "want" gets you into a better mindset. Sorry you have to go back to work but you really had some great vacations.

Melissa - Great workout!

Waves to all!

Marcy

Melissa- I have always wanted to keep a clean house. I did not grow up with a neat family so I was at a huge deficit. I learned how to clean up from the internet. I don't think I am lying about the "want". That's cool that there is a Crossfit near you.

If I had children, I think I would homeschool them.

Marcy- Way to go on Shape it Up! I am kind of ready to go back. Going back to work is going to help me get more disciplined with my eating and exercise.

Jane- So glad you enjoyed your float.

Off tomorrow to take one more trip. If I don't check in tomorrow morning, I will check back this weekend.

Gayle- Hope you are enjoying your R&R.

Waves to Tammy.
