Stretching Question

I just did Imax 3 and then the ab section from KPC. So my question is, which stretch should I have done? I did the stretch after Imax 3, and then did the abs. Should I have waited and done the KPC stretch? Or done both? Any input would be appreciated.

I don't think it matters, Shelley, as long as you stretched. I'm like you, too. I do a cardio workout then an ab section from the Intensity or BB series. I normally skip the cardio stretch, go to abs and use the stretch that follows. HOWEVER, when I have more time and I'm feeling really tight, I do both stretch segments. So I get to stretch before and after the ab section. Feels great.:)

I've not had the programs you have...
I do the stretch at the end of my program and also the Stretch in Stretch Max. The one in the Stretch Max is just a bit longer then the one's at the end of a regular routine.

Personally I would have done them like you did. As you did KPC, from my understand and then stretched when everything was nice and warm, then did abs and stretched the abs after they had a nice workout. Basically you want to stretch when all your muscles are warm and have been worked and you don't want to wait until they cool off, as that can cause injuries.

Now if you started with the say just a chest workout and then moved to a total body workout that also stretched the chest and the arms, then I would have waited until the end and then stretched with the total body workout. Or grab stretchMax if you have it, and pop it in after you did your workouts.

Personally I don't believe you can stretch too much after a workout. Now you can over stretch a muscle by pushing it too hard in a stretch, but I don't believe in being able to over do a normal stretch routine, like you find at the end of Cathe's workout. If that makes sense.

Anyway stretch when your nice and warm and don't skimp on stretching, your body will thank you for it, a few years from now. As you age you naturally get less flexiable and this can cause joint pain, and stiffness. Stretching and flexing can help combat those things. You can't prevent them, but you can help slow them down and escape from experience the worse of it.

Hope that helps,

Kit
