Cathlete
I've been walking regularly this summer, continuously trying to improve my average speed over 4-5 miles. On way of doing this is by bumping up my speed to under a 12-minute mile over small stretches, but I need some kind of motivation to push me.
It used to be hearing a fast tune in my head (I don't listen to music when I walk, so it has to come from inside!), like "flight of the bumble bee", but lately, I've found that other visualizations work well, too.
One is that the UPS truck is stopped up ahead of me, and I *know* the driver has just been to my place with my new Cathe DVD's and didn't leave them, so if I don't want to wait until the next day, I have to catch up to him before he takes off again.
This will work until I actually get the DVD's, and then I'll have to envision Tracey's/Amy's/Tony's new DVD's (or maybe Cathe's next batch?).
