Some Cathe motivation

I've been walking regularly this summer, continuously trying to improve my average speed over 4-5 miles. On way of doing this is by bumping up my speed to under a 12-minute mile over small stretches, but I need some kind of motivation to push me.

It used to be hearing a fast tune in my head (I don't listen to music when I walk, so it has to come from inside!), like "flight of the bumble bee", but lately, I've found that other visualizations work well, too.

One is that the UPS truck is stopped up ahead of me, and I *know* the driver has just been to my place with my new Cathe DVD's and didn't leave them, so if I don't want to wait until the next day, I have to catch up to him before he takes off again.

This will work until I actually get the DVD's, and then I'll have to envision Tracey's/Amy's/Tony's new DVD's (or maybe Cathe's next batch?).

:D

Hey Kathryn, I just wanted to congratulate you on your progress with your speedwalking. This is not easy to do and you are really going at an impressive pace! I'm a runner and I actually find speedwalking more difficult so kudos to you!
I love your motivation! I'll have to try that on my next long run:) My hometown actually has a judged racewalk (10k) each year. I bet you'd do well in one!
