So, what's the deal with the "lead legs" phenomenon

Maybe some of you Cathe pros can fill me in. How come I can do a step workout one day and it goes great--no pain, no problems. Then, I try it again a few days later and I feel like I'm going to die? Sometimes, my legs feel like they are made of lead and I darn near knock my step over. Any ideas? I thought maybe someone here could explain and tell me what to do about it...
Thanks!!

Sometimes you are just tired. At least that's the excuse I give for what you describe. Somedays the workout is a piece of cake, somedays it's all you can do to struggle through half. How did you sleep last night? What have you had to eat today? What kind of mood are you in? I think all kinds of things can affect your workout. Or maybe I'm full of hooey, and someone else really can answer your question. I guess what I'm trying to say is this isn't unusual.

You said it well Robin...

Julie...as Robin said, many variables can play into why you feel the way you do. This is an excellent reason for you to keep a training log/diary so that you can compare the way you feel with the way your workouts go. Usually you can find trends that can help you pinpoint the problem...It will eliminate alot of the "guesswork".

Keep us posted...

It all depends on how you slept, what you ate and what's going on in your life...best said by Cathe in Power Hour (during 2nd set of bicep work)

RE: So, what's the deal with the

Thanks for the responses. I don't have Power Hour yet, so I'm not sure what Cathe says. I guess it just bothers me because some days I think, "Wow. I'm in really good shape" and then a couple days later, it's like "what happened?!!!" I think it's a good idea to write down how I feel after the workout and take all the other factors into consideration. Great advice. Thank you!

I agree. Also, sometimes when I'm training hard, I get DOMS two days later. Your lead legs may be from your previuos workout and not the current workout.

RE: So, what's the deal with the

Forget exercise. I have that in every day life. There are days I can almost fly up the subway steps and other days when every step feels like I'm lifting a bag of boulders. It seems very much tied to my hormonal situation, rather than how I slept or ate. Sometimes during PMS I feel light as a feather. It's SOOO variable.
