So tired...

I had about 3 drinks last night, over the course of about 6 hours, I'm not a big drinker, and I get SO run down and tired the day after drinking anything at all. I like to have a few drinks every now and then, but I hate being so worn out the next day.

Any tricks for getting past this post drink tiredness? I'm OK to take a rest day today, since my schedule freed up and I'll be able to workout tomorrow and Sunday, but maybe working out helps? I have had about 60 ounces of water today, and seem to feel better right after eating. I can't remember if fat helps or hurts, but both meals had a good dose of healthy fats (coconut oil and avocado)

There is actually an article in the Nov/Dec Fitness magazine reagarding getting through the Holidays. Once of the tips was to make sure you workout the next day after a night of drinks. This is because you sweat out some of whatever particular component (they had some fancy scientific word for it that I can't remember) is in alcohol that gives you the hung-over type feeling.

Also, drinking plenty of water on the night you are having drinks and right before bed is essential as well.

Keep drinking plenty of water and maybe get a light but sweat inducing workout in if you can.

Good luck!

I've heard potassium helps too. Maybe a banana smoothie? I'd definitely work out and sweat out some of those toxins too! :)

Water, water water! It makes a huge difference for me. I usually have a glass in between drinks, a glass before I go to bed, and if I wake up in the night to use the bathroom, I have more....It works wonders! I don't drink often either, but when I do have a few, if I don't make sure to really hydrate myself, I feel tired and yucky the next day.

Thanks guys! Sucking down more water, took a vitamin and ate some eggs (that was my own suggestion :p). Still trying to get myself to workout, but DH wants to go out for dinner, and food seems so much more appealing right now!

Great post! Have a bit of buzz going on right now ( 4 drinks in me) and i don't drink often so thats a lot! Its my hubby's 37th bday so I let loose a bit. I'm starting to chung the water now in hopes to feel a bit better tomorrow. :)
