Running

I am thinking of joining a learn to run clinic. My only concern is I have mildly arthritic knees. Any experience anyone can share?

No experience with arthritic knees. However, be aware that when the ligaments are damaged, impact moves such as running, will damage them further; the impact will actually speed up the deterioration. On the other hand, if your ligaments were healthy, impact moves would make them stronger.

I do not recommend running for arthritic knees. You could do speed/power walking instead of running.

If you do try it consider icing after your workouts as that can help with the inflammation. But, don't automatically dismiss it. Some people improve with running and some people don't. If you aren't already at your weight goal, I would suggest getting that to where you want it first. Running is easiest when we are light;) I am working on dropping some pounds and man, it was so much easier to run when I was lighter!!
