Running question

Have a quick question for all you expert runners:)

I am running a 5k on Saturday and have had issues with past 5ks of getting what I would mucous, or a "lugie" (lol, not sure on spelling) in my throat which causes me to clear my throat a lot, spit a lot, and in general it pisses me off and gets my breathing rhythm all off.

Any thoughts on causes or ways to ward off said mucous? I'm thinking of trying no cream in my coffee that am in case it's dairy product related.

I'm psyched about this 5k -- it's literally one mile away from my house and during our annual balloonfest...not that I'll be spending much time looking up at balloons during the run, however!

Thanks,
Heidi

I get that a lot when I run in the cold. I'd assume it is drainage. Doesn't happen much in the summer so I guess I'm not much help here:confused:

Anyway...Good luck with your race!

Hi Heidi...I have found most mucous is caused by dairy or high fat foods. Maybe avoiding those before the race would be good...:)...and "Good Luck"
