Hi,

I run 2-3 times a week on my treadmill on an incline between 3-5 sometimes higher, does anybody know if running on incline will bulk my legs or slim my legs? Thanks!

Lourdes

Incline running is great for your glutes, and I've never heard of anyone complaining about it bulking their legs too much. I do it regularly (mostly in my HIIT) and I haven't had a problem.

I've also only hear that incline training is great for working your backside. I don't think you would bulk up.

BUT - I was listening to a running podcast a couple of weeks ago (The running shoe) and the guy recommends not running at an incline for longer than a few minutes, and make sure you are running fast enough that your can stay on your forefoot rather than trying to land on the heel. He said that incline running for long periods can damage you achilles tendon by overstretching it.

I run lots of steep hills when I run outside and I can really tell the difference in my cardio conditioning. I can ran faster and longer after just a few days of hill running.

It has definitely not bulked me anywhere!
