Rotations

Cathlete
I am following my first ever rotation this month (Cathe's Sept '10, I'm on my last week) with 2 Lower Body Workouts a week and have noticed that I don't tire as quickly and I feel much stronger - my stamina has really improved with those and I've gone from dreading LBWs to almost looking forward to LBWs.

What has been your favorite rotation? what were the benefits /gains you noticed?

I am doing the Fat Loss Hardcore rotation from Cathe (March 2005) right now.

I am almost done with week three and have noticed my jelly roll (aka lower ab flab) has slightly flattened out.

I almost skipped this workout because I don't enjoy running especially since my treadmill is out of commission and that means I have to run outside at 4am but I am really glad I am doing it. I have gotten to try a few workouts I avoided (Imax 3 and Hardcore Extreme) and am finding that I love them!

I have to say that of all the wonderful advice and suggestions I get from this site, the rotations are like gifts from heaven! They are so nice to have so that I don't have to think about a plan!

I agree, it's nice to incorporate workouts that you normally skip over and find out that you actually really enjoy them (Step, Jump and Pump anyone?) AND it's so nice to have the whole plan laid out for you.

The posted rotations tend to induce workout envy and I find myself buying them.

My favorite rotation is the one I made up for myself. Its just 3 days/week jog, 2 days cross train with step. I also do yoga 2-3 times/week. Its sort of a rotation but not as detailed as what Cathe posts.

I am doing a heavy weight, 4 day spit, 2 cardio a week (I do 3 at least),6 week rotation from Muscle & Fitness. I am in my 2nd week, I love this rotation. My next rotation I will do Cathe's November rotation:D can't wait what she comes up with the new workouts!

My favorite rotation is the one I'm doing now! I am on week 3 of a 4-week Gym Styles rotation I made up myself. Basically it's 3 days a week of the three Gym Style strength training dvds, and three days of cardio. I add abs on two or three days -- something from Butts & Guts, Ab Circuits, or Core Max. The cardio is whatever I'm in the mood for, usually one step routine, one kickbox, and one outdoor hike every week.

I've noticed significant improvements... the first time I did the push-up drop sets in GS Chest and Triceps I had to skip some push-ups, and do them all on my knees. I dreaded doing them ever again! But by week 3, I didn't have to skip any, and I did the first five push-ups on my toes (a huge deal for me!) Also, I had very significant DOMS for days after the first week of Gym Style Legs, but this week I only had moderate DOMS for a day.

My weight hasn't changed (I don't want or need it to) but I think I might have lost some inches; haven't measured yet, but my clothes feel a bit looser and my husband commented the other day that my butt looks smaller.

I'm starting STS soon, and I'm excited to see similar strength gains since the format is somewhat similar to this rotation. Before I start STS, I'm going to give myself a couple weeks to play around with Cathe's new releases that will be out soon!

That sounds like a great rotation, I like the 3-day split style, it worked well for me with Slow & Heavy and Pure strength...if I eventually get the Gym Styles I think it would be neat to do a series of those PS, GS, & S& H back to back....You'll have to tell us about STS when you start...:)

I am liking my Kickfest rotation this month, unexpectedly getting added flexibility/ROM as well as awesome leg workouts, and as expected core definition, kickboxing always does get my core really good, & there's added core work on top of that, whew!

I may just do Ilaria's with Cathe's new ones next in a mixed rotation, may always have some kickbox or drills in the week somewhere now. Rotations really keep me on track & committed to working out everyday, conscious of active recovery & excited about getting more fit. I love it.:D

I have been thinking of pulling out GS again in a very similar rotation. Maybe I'll start this when we get the new dvds, and add in a 4th day of weights by alternating weeks with STS full body and high reps.
