I received yoga dvds for a Christmas present. (I posted this question about a week ago) I don't do yoga yet. I've been wondering if I should keep them. Is Rodney Yee a good teacher to start with? I've been looking for reviews but can't find any - I think they're too new. They are Strength Building Yoga, Energy Balance Yoga and Power Yoga also comes with a yoga strap(?) Any opinions are appreciated.
Even if they're not the same workouts, you can learn a little about what kind of instructor he is.
I have the Power Yoga and it is WAY beyond my abilities. I also have his Yoga for Back or whatever it's called and I like that. I think he is an excellent instructor and I love the scenery in his videos. But I don't do much yoga, so I'm not that knowledgeable.
I have a few RY yoga workouts. I really enjoy them. It's best to try to NEVER WATCH HIM while you're starting out! He's super advanced himself, so he can wrap himself into crazy shapes I'm nowhere near accomplishing. I just do my best and take my glasses off first, LOL!!
I vote to keep them. Watch them first to get a feel for what he's talking about, as he refers to the moves by name. Imagine back at your first step class when "basic" and "A step" meant nothing to you.
The strap will come in handy as a beginner- often you sit in a position and use the strap to reach your legs or something. If you have Stretch Max, segment 3 uses the band like yoga would use the strap.
