Alright , do they have to repair every road at once???
I am so tired of it.
They are enlarging 3 mile hill where i live , and just closed my entrance for a month which means a 5 mile go around everyday...This project will be done Nov. 2007.
With the 4th lane people are going to really fly down the MT. and kill more people.
They are fixing roads everywhere.
Then where my shop is at they are paving every city street at once. It is like a fricken maze to get around....
They were not supposed to block off roads and they are. Thay were only supposed to do 1 side at a time.
Then the const. guys are morons. Flaggers have their flag in their pockets. One says go , one screams at you...
I don't know if i can take 3 more weeks of this....And with gas prices!!!!
I need to vent>>>>
Thanks, Anne

Sorry to hear about your frustration Anne. We live in rural UT and road construction is at its peak! Makes you want to scream!

I feel your pain! I wish all of the city people would stay in the city most days!;-)

I liked the bumpy roads...it kept all of the speed demons away! LOL

Oh man I go through this every summer with residents.

If it helps, I can explain why they do all the streets at the same time. If they're milling & paving, it's cheaper to mill all the streets at once, then pave them all at once. The equipment for milling & paving is different, so to do it one street at a time--hauling out the milling equipment one day, then the paving equipment the next day, then the milling equip, then the paving equip, etc etc--it costs something like 50% more than if they do everything all at once.

Just file this away under the category of "$hit I never wanted to know." :p

Well, if it makes y'all feel better, here is California we don't have hard winters so it's road construction all year round... We have roads here that have been underconstruction ever since I moved here in 1998...

I'm not complaining. :)

The frost heaves & potholes that I've encountered on my 25 mile (one way) commute have knocked my car out of alignment more times than I can remember in the last three years.

I'm very happy that that road is finally being re-paved.

The major bridge into Williamsport from the south, where I live, is being replaced. It's been down to 2 lanes for 18 months. Now that they are starting on the other side of the new bridge, one of the exit ramps is closed and all the traffic has to go through a traffic light. What a mess. And next week is Little League Week here in Williamsport. It will be crazy trying to get into town.

Oh yeah, that's the other complaint we get a lot. Potholes & bad pavement slow people down. So when residents' roads are re-paved & they have this beautiful, smooth new blacktop & drivers start flying down their streets.

So beware, first you have to deal with the hassle of paving, then you'll have to deal with the public safety issue of speeding. Sometimes you really just can't win. x(
