Problems with slippery step

Does anyone else have problems with their step top being a bit slippery, making it hard to grip in some moves? I especially have trouble when laying down with my feet on the step to do glute and hamstring exercizes (eg. in Gym Style Legs). My long step, a regular STEP brand, is 9 years old, so the rubber top may be aging. But I also find this on my mini-step top which is 4 years old. I just got new shoes, and they don't seem to grip any better than the old ones. Has anyone else had this problem? If it is that the rubber ages, I'll just have to get new tops.

I have the same problem especially with workouts like Cardio and Weights where you go from lying on the bench to stepping on the bench. I have no clever solution though, I just use my mat on the floor instead of using the bench. When I do lying hamstring and glute work using the step I have to put the bench against the wall or it moves too much and impedes my workout. Sorry I can't be more help but just wanted to let you know that I also have this problem.

Thanks, Laurie for responding! I sometimes also have trouble with the step scooting as well. I will try putting it against the wall, that will at least stabilize the step and maybe help with my foot some.
