I'm having a hard time posting, anyway I am 36 wks
and still working out, during the workouts my stomach gets hard and hurts from my stomach to my
hoo-hah I've had some people say keep going and
work through it but it is that normal or should I
stop when it hurts. I'd like to think I'm woman
enough to tough it out for 4 more wks but dang it's really uncomfortable. Anyone have any suggestions, I'm just doing low impact for 30 min
a day sometimes every other day.

If it hurts DON'T do it!

Hi! Exercise should never be painful but ESPECIALLY SO during pregnancy. Throughout the duration of your pregnancy you need to always listen to your body and modify any and all exercise that presents discomfort/pain.

You are now entering your final month----a month where a lot of aches and pains may be pronounced due to all of the structural changes occuring so rapidly in your body. My suggestion is to modify all movements that cause you discomfort. If the pain simply won't go away regardless of how much you modify then I recommend discontinuing your exercise program until after the baby arrives and after you have had clearance from your obgyn to resume exercise.

Please be good to yourself and your baby and enjoy the remainder of your pregnancy

Thanks so much I thought I should be doing that
but you know you get so much advice wanted or not
from others during this condition. Thanks again
for the reassurance. Jessica

just a thought. . .

could those be Braxton Hicks contractions? I ask because you specifically said that your stomach gets HARD. That sounds like a pretty classic Braxton Hicks contraction to me. Those Braxton Hicks can get pretty painful the bigger you get till they truly do mimic labor quite well! I can't remember which pregnancy, but with one of my kids I had SERIOUS Braxton Hicks from 7 months on whenever I worked out. Talk to your doc. If it IS Braxton Hicks, you might have the option of continuing to work out, just stopping to march in place and take a breather (good time to practice that labor breathing, LOL!) and continue when it eases. But ASK YOUR DOC before you try this!!! Cathe is right, if it hurts don't do it! Not till you clarify this with your doc.

Braxton Hicks

That was my exact thought after reading your post. It does sound just like Braxton Hicks. I worked out until delivery (full term plus) during two pregnancies. It does get more challenging to find the energy to workout during those last few months. Sometimes my stomach would seem to stay hard during the entire workout.

I agree that you should check with your doctor but if they are Braxton Hicks you most likely can continue working out and know you aren't alone feeling this.

Re: Pain in the buddah.....

Hi,

Just a reminder to keep drinking lots and lots of water before, during and after your workout. Getting even the least bit dehydrated can lead to contractions. Good luck! You are almost there.

Thanks again, I called the dr's office (I am a regular hee-hee)and asked he gave me the ok he stated that he felt that they were braxton hicks, he wants me to look for spotting which may be an indicator that the cervix is changing. I'll keep
plugging along only 4 more wks.
