Pain in my foot....what could it be?

Hi,

I just started to workout again after taking 3 months off due to a knee injury and surgery. I have been taking it extremely slow. But now my foot hurts. I woke up yesterday and went to stand and OUCH! pain in the outer part of my foot. It hurts when I put pressure on my heel. If I sit to long and then try to walk it hurts for a bit then slowley eases off.

Any ideas?

Elaine

maybe your shoes?maybe its time to get another new pair or at least put in some cushion insoles. i notice when i get pain on the outer and inner side and balls of my feet, when i get new shoes they are fine. it might not be the case but it sounds like it.

It might be plantar fasciitis. Mine flares up when I take a break from working out and then start up again. You might want to google it and see if the symptoms match. I can usually control it by following a stretching program and being very careful about the sneakers I buy.

Hope it feels better soon!

I agree that it is probably plantar fasciitis. I've struggled with that problem for years. It really flares up on days that I'm on my feet a lot. If I sit for a while and then try to walk it takes a few steps before I can walk without limping. My mom has the same problem and her doctor gave her some stretching exercises. She notices a huge improvement when she does them regularly.

Yeh, I was thinking it could be plantar fascitis. When I googled it they show the pain under the foot and under the heel. My pain is more lateral towards the side of my ankle. Does this sort of pain still sound like plantar fascitis?

If it persists more than a day or two, I would see your doctor. Even real doctors can't make a diagnosis without seeing something, and none of us is a real doctor;)

I never asked anyone to be a real doctor or to truley diagnose me. I was only asking for someone elses opinion and their experience.

Sorry I asked.

You may want to go to a doctor. My mom finally gave in and went because she was having pain in different parts of her foot. Turns out in additon to the plantars she has a touch of bracitis (I doubt I spelled that corretly). The stretching has helped both problems, but it may be worth a trip to the doctor just to get a professional opinion.

No need to be snippy. I would just hate for you to go on thinking it was something because someone on here said "oh it might be this" and then end up injuring yourself more.
