P9OX WORKOUTS

Amy Steppe

Cathlete
Hi all!

For those of you who have used or considered using the P9OX workouts, what are your thoughts?

How does it compare to Cathe and are the workouts good compliments to Cathe's workouts?

The more I hear about pod casts and workout blenders, the more I am becoming turned off by Cathe's future plans. Please note this is my personal observation and I am not dissing Cathe's future plans. The workout blender and pod casts are just not what I currently desire.

I think I am going to purchase the P9OX system, but I don't want to be ripped off like I've been with The Firm's latest junk.

Thanks in advance!

:)

Amy, if you do a search under P90X, you'll find answers to all your questions (and probably some you didn't even know you had!).

I absolutely LOVE P90X. They are an awesome set of DVD's, and well worth the money because you get 12 awesome workouts!! I've seen awesome results doing P90X and am on my 2nd round. I love it so much that I became a coach through MDB. Check out my webpage listed in my signature & if you're interested you can even order it through there. My email is there as well so please email me if you have any questions!!

Tony is a bit different instructor than Cathe, but not in a bad way. He shows you how to do the exercises and then you do as many reps as you can with the weights that you can lift. You can lift heavy or lighter for lean. There are 3 versions of P90X you can do- classic, lean, or doubles (extra cardio). If you can keep up w/ Cathe workouts, then you can handle P90X!

Good luck in your decision!

i just ordered mine on monday. i was wondering if you do the workouts as is or do you do one muscle per day?

Amy,

You definitely won't be ripped off. P90X is a great system, well thought out and well worth the money. I had great results with it this past spring and plan on doing it again in another few months. I lost inches rather than pounds but that was my goal anyway. I also got a lot stronger. After doing Ab Ripper X, Cathe's ab workouts became so much easier. I was introduced to chinups/pullups for the first time which I like and try to do them whenever I can but it helps to have them as part of the workout. I used the Door Gym for them which worked out fine and am able to do unassisted chinups but have only been able to do a couple of pullups. I lifted heavy with the Classic rotation and was very happy. I agree with Jess that if you can do Cathe, you can do Tony. I used to hate pushups and I grew to like them with P90X. You're going to be doing a lot of them in every variation you can think of. It was a nice change not to have to do bench presses and flys. Equipment is minimal, mainly dumbbells. I don't know what dumbbells you have, but you might want to invest in some more because you will make strength gains. Leg work is mostly non-weighted. If you can do the IMAXes, you shouldn't have a problem with Plyo X which is the most extreme cardio in this series. The cardio isn't as extreme as Cathe but I think it was designed that way so you don't lose too much muscle gains. Yoga X is long at 92 minutes so you might want to consider other practices. P90X is what got me back to doing yoga. Core Synergistics is unlike any other workout I have tried and is really effective and one of the best workouts in the whole package. I always tried to either do one more rep or go up in weight each week. I used the eating plan as best I could for Phase 1 but didn't follow it after that and still had good results but I'm sure the better you eat, the better results you will have.

I hope I answered some of your questions. You can PM me if you have any others.

I have done it as is. I have done doubles to get in my running but it's worked great. But you can mix & match the workouts if you don't want to do it as written also. Ab ripper is a really effective 16 min ab workout!!

Hey Marcy! Are you doing another round of P90X yet? I'm almost to day 60 of my 2nd round and I can not believe how many pushups & pullups I can do now!! I love it!!! It is nice not to do bench flyes and presses but still get awesome results from the various pushups! Hope you're doing well!

Hey, Jess! Yes, I will be doing another round but probably not for another few months. Between Cathe, Amy and Tracey, there is so much good stuff to try out. Glad to hear you're doing so well. Good work on the pushups and pullups:)!

I know! I am looking forward to getting my UPS delivery of Cathe's 4 day split! I"ll just be using the cardio for now, I think the kickboxing will be an awesome sub for Kenpo! ;-) Enjoy your workouts!

I did an X classic rotation beginning Jan of this year. I modified it a little bit to suit me better by adding a leg work out each week and doing mostly running for cardio and adding one cardio session per week. I LOVED IT! I got great results!

I didn't lose but maybe a pound or two but my body fat dropped, I leaned out an incredible amount and gained TONS of definition and strength! I plan on doing another rotation in January of 08!:)

My DH's boss at work apparently just purchased this and is on day 3 and is already complaining about how sore he is! LOL DH told me that today and I was laughing. DH had already told him I had the X and did it and how I got great results. It's fantastic and I would recommend it to anyone looking to build muscle, gain definition, get stronger and/or lean out!

GO FOR IT! You know you wanna!;)

Thanks, everybody! I am going to purchase P9OX.

I can keep up with Cathe except the most I can handle with dumbbells is 25 lb. I hope to work up to heavier weight!

Anyway, thank all of you for helping me make the decision.
