P90X Question...Please Help

Stacy

Cathlete
I use Cathe almost exclusively and I'm interested in purchasing P90X, but I have a few questions....

I have a bad knee and cant do plyo's, lunges, squats, or leg presses. Can I still benefit from the rotations if I sub my own leg workout for the leg tape, and then sub another cardio for the plyo workout?? And, how effective is the band in place of the pull-up bar, b/c I dont see myself purchasing the bar.

I want to know what I'm getting before I make that much of a $$ commitment.

Thanks!

Also...any reviews out there with a break down of the exercises?? How does this series compare to Cathe's workouts???

I have a bad knee too... ACL repair 14 years ago and am having surgery in October for cartilege issues. I have had no problems at all with any of the workouts in P90X. Tony Horton mentions having a bad leg in one of the workouts, and encourages you to modify. One of the background exercisers (I think it's in PlyoX) even has an artificial leg! He shows some modifications. There are no leg presses in P90X and the squats and lunges didn't seem to bother me much. (They are completely different than Cathe's and for a lot of the leg workout, you don't use weights.) I encourage you to get the pull-up bar, though. It really brings your workout to the next level! But if you don't, I'm sure the bands will be effective.

I'm sure others will chime in with their experiences. Everyone's mileage will vary...

If that was the case for me, I would suggest getting the strength workouts and ab ripper x off the ya ya's swap and subbing your own cardio.
there is no reason you can't sub different cardio. I plan on using a different kickbox and cardio myself, although i love plyo x and will definately use that. I also plan on using a different yoga as the yoga in this series wasn't for me.

I think the p90x rotation is great, but there is definatly room for substitutions.
