Organic Foods

I have slowly been switching over to organic foods, but the price is definitely a consideration for my family...I try to prioritize my organic choices like others suggested. Milk is a big thing for me - my kids drink it a lot and organic is SO expensive, but I have made a compromise for now and am buying a brand that isn't organic, but doesn't use BGH.

I definitely suggest looking for alternative sources for food beyond your local grocery store....I get free-range organice eggs every week from a local farmer (only $1.50 a dozen) and I am part of an organic vegetable co-op. I believe that grocery stores are taking advantage of this growing concern about organic/nonorganic foods and charging ridiculous prices....also I feel that some stores (Whole Foods, for example) have this way of setting the mood to make you feel so "wholesome" about buying their products that 1. you spend way more money than you intended to 2. impulse items keep falling into your cart and 3. you don't even notice the fact that not everything there is organic because the assumption when you shop there is that it is. (do I seem overly-negative about Whole Foods? I actually feel like I've died and gone to heaven when I get to their cheese counter).

My best suggestion is to buy what you can that's organic and don't fret about what you can't. Like others said, there are so many other toxins out there that we just can't control it all.

OMG, Missy, how did you contain yourself when he was telling you all this? ;) I get frustrated when people don't even want to consider a different viewpoint. Hmmmm, and I wonder why I have GI problems?
I am getting better at only trying to educate or inform people who want to hear what you have to say. I can't afford to lose anymore hairs on my head and BELIEVE me, they're fading fast! lol

Honestly, I know this guy very well and he is always on a major ego trip. He is incredibly arrogant and selfish, so after six years of being around him I have sorta learned how to tune him out and ignore him. I do get frustrated, but what makes me FURIOUS is after that huge talk he said, "but I still respect your decision." O-kay. Like it is any of his business? x( But you can't make people listen when their ears are closed, so why waste the breath? Even though he and his kids are sick alot, again hmmmmmmmmm.... has nothing to do with goes into their bodies, I guess....
