Good morning ladies....

I have leg DOMS now to go with some remaining chest DOMS!!! Wow, my hamstrings are feeling that leg workout! Today is Step Blast and I love that workout. So, looking forward to it...

Also, it is our library day and Lauren's Girls Club...Then, Chris has his second tournament baseball game tonight...So, I will try to come back later and chat. Maybe during breaks in our school lessons..

Time to get the kids up!! That is quite a task...HAHA

Hey Kathy! Girls!

It is soooo nice out and is supposed to be in the low 70's, I'm sooooo going out for a run! Will try to make it interval, and do up and down the stairs more. I'm going to do abs too.

My quads were hurting bad last night, like a burning feeling. I got kind of sceered I was going to have the 3 day DOMS I got last week. So I took a few Advils before bed. I'm not sure if that's what did it, but I don't have major DOMS in my legs today. Just still a little sore in ,my quads.

I'm going to go and throw in an ab workout either from CIRCUITS or COREMAX.

I'm already thinking ahead for Saturday. I have to do papers/collecting with Zach in the morning, and then take Alex to a bday party after lunch. I'm thinking the most I can do is a 30 minute cardio, if that.

Kathy: I feel for ya on the Leg DOMS. Mine hurt SOOO bad last week! I bet going from "recovery" to working them again kicked in good! You have quite the busy day!! Have fun with SB!

Hottie: That is ridiculous about the internet at work. Stuff like that annoys me. Because it's not a choice between Cancer Research and Internet. There are TONS of other money wasters they could get rid of. The internet is an amazing resource for research and information. ... Yep, I got a little "muffin top" going around my jeans too. It actually shrinks up when I eat better! Even for like a week, it will get smaller, less "fluffy" and my pants fit better. I think it would be so cool to have some lipo on my "excess" too, but I could never voluntarily have surgery. Nope, I can't do it. I have some varicose veins that could use some surgery fixing, but since they don't bother me (except for looking like crap), I won't do it.

Okay, better get started, I have a "list to do" today (as usual!!)

Good morning!!! I disappeared yesterday, I guess...... stuck at school all afternoon for a meeting.

All those DOMs, girls! You go! Actually, Chris, good for you that you're not hurting so much this morning. Are you on meso 2 yet? I was trying to figure out if it was the trisets that got you last week, but you're not there yet, right? Cannot remember the upper body of meso 2, but I remember the leg trisets.

Ok, those school projects -- they are so ridiculous! And everyone seems to think so! Well, except the teachers, obviously! I do not help my kids with them, and they end up with lame things, but that's just the way it is. At the younger ages they don't seem to get any real grades. With Travis, now it is that he has to create podcasts and videos and my head is swimming. I know he is going to need some help with those (and I don't even know how!). Ug! And, those will obviously be graded...... good luck, Joanne!

Oh hey, part of my disappearing was fighting with the mac & ipod to get that workout muse app. I was so pissed! Joanne, that's the one you have, right? I had to upgrade itunes, I had to upgrade the ipod OS (for a fee!) and, etc., etc. It took forever, and now the damn bloody app sets the volume to absolute loudest and there's no way to turn it down!!! Do you have that problem? I am so frustrated.

The reason I loaded the app is that some of the exercises I meant to do are stretches, and she really stressed that I need to hold them for a full 30 seconds and that everyone tends to underestimate how long that is. Well, so I did all that this morning with my buds out of my ears, and it was still loud enough for me to hear the 30s intervals! But, the sound quality sucked. So, I hope I can figure it out.

So yes, my workout was the exercises/stretches the chiro wants me to do. It took me quite a while to work through all of them and I'm supposed to do them twice a day every day! No wonder regular people always end up slacking on this kind of stuff! I don't know how I'm going to fit it in and still have any fun with workouts.

On the internet woes...... that is just crazy..... I know how much a good internet connection costs, and it's just not that much! Sheesh. But, it does make you really appreciate the researchers who did all kinds of fantastic work before the days of the internet, eh?

Ok, it's getting late..... I need to get on with the morning routine instead of ranting about stupid software! :)

News Flash! The kittens are named...... Shadows is still Shadows, and the other one..... drumroll please..... is Skippito! He's got really large ears, so we figured Skippy Jon Jones worked, but the boys like the Skippito version.

Beth: Cute names for the kitties...Lauren wants a kitten so bad. BUt, Vic is not a fan of cats. Luckily, one of her best pals has like 6 of them and she is always there visiting. That is were she is going today and she is so excited about it..Meso 2 upper body on Monday was all chest then we did all shoulder exercises then we went to triceps. I think that is how it went for the back and biceps. I do that on Friday. The legs workout did have the trisets and they were tough!!!! We are having some internet issues too. I will loose connection every once in a while. That happened for a while yesterday.

Chris: We are going to have another nice day today too. Yesterday was really nice. Glad you avoided DOMS..I am feeling them nicely all over...

Ok, ladies now that the morning has progressed. I have noticed and felt DOMS in the quads too. Everytime I get up and sit down at the table to go over another lesson I feel every muscle....I am getting ready to head down to get Step Blast done. I hope it shakes out some of the soreness!!

Talk to you later...

hey guys! I was going to do SB but I woke up too late this morning and I had to get in early to work to start the first initial time point of an experiment. I'm going to head out to the school gym and jump on the elliptical for a little over an hour hopefully to get in my cardio today. I really wanted to do SB so maybe I can push it in tomorrow or something because I doubt I'll have the energy when I get home tonight.

The internet issue is really crazy here. I mean, I understand the jack activation fee. At caltech, anyone could use an internet jack -- any computer unregistered or not. Over here, we have to register every MAC address which I understand. I even understand ripping off the undergrads for $1000/jack to make money. But in our building where all we do is research? I feel like the school is setting up poor labs to fail. And it is a ONE time fee for labs like ours (not for undergrads) but when the budget is tight this is insane. As for research before the internet -- a couple of us were just groaning two days ago about the quality of work that used to get you graduated -- you needed so much less because people didn't expect as much. Particularly in biological research, its just becoming almost unreasonable. Even though its not written anywhere, most PIs don't let you graduate unless you have publications (or if you don't have any, they make you stay for 8-10 years) and the standard for publications in biology has just risen like crazy. And if you're in a lab like mine that doesn't submit to low impact journals, it takes even more time and experiments. That said, if we *do* get our high impact article, we're much better set once we leave. But most of us just want OUT at this point and not having the internet when everything is linked to it just makes us want to throttle someone. I'm starting an experiment next week that should hopefully get me a second/third author on a couple papers in the future and I didn't have access at one point to our accounts for me to be able to buy stuff between a finicky internet and restricted access (guess what I'm doing right after this!?!?) UGH! At least I'm the only one on the floor right now...

Kathy -- enjoy SB blast for me!! How bad is it to wake up the kids? ;)

Chris -- man, when do those todo lists go away? I'm not even a mom! You know, if I had an infinite set of money, I'd probably do a tummy tuck but I don't and I could never justify spending money on something like that when I should be able to get rid of it through hard work. If I was going to spend money on cosmetic surgeries it would be for my eyes or for my hair (I suffer from androgenic alopecia) -- stuff that I couldn't fix through effort. It's exactly as it sounds -- cosmetic. If I had money lying around maybe, but I have so many other things to think about -- my family, my dog, my house, it just goes on!

Beth -- Skippito is nice! I'm really glad I didn't get full on into the ipod stuff. I have my nano that Joe won from a raffle at work and I have a 5G one that was a birthday present from when it first came out. No apps, just music. The ipod touch/iphones look really wicked but I dunno...could never get myself to go there. And frankly, I hate iTunes or I hate how Apple makes you upgrade because of some security thing someone else did and then I lose SOMETHING in the process. I actually songbird on my notebook. I'm frankly have been eyeing a Zune HD for sometime but I don't think I'm going to buy it.

Ok, off to do some research shopping.

Good morning/afternoon! This morning was CLX Burn Intervals and Ab Burner. Not so crazy about Ab Burner. I think I liked the Extreme Abs better. My triceps and shoulders are really sore.

Kathy, two of my kids are super easy to get up - the other two, a major pain! Hope you are enjoying Step Blast. Good luck at the game tonight.

Chris, have to get those runs in while the weather is nice. We had a couple nice days, but now the rain is back for the next 3-4 days. Ick. I have that muffin top thing going on, too. I swear, you turn 40 and all of a sudden you have back fat. What's up with that??

Beth, I didn't have to help Jameson and Ian too much with projects, but Colin is different. He's a bright kid, but just so not creative or artistic, which is what you need for these stupid projects! Jameson has had to make a few movies, too. Luckily he actually likes it and does it all on his own. We have to work on Caitlyn's project over the weekend - making a replica of the village hall. She told me one girl already brought hers in, she had Target. Now that would have been cool. Make big red circles all over it! I guess she has the parking lot and everything, complete with cars. I do have the Workout Muse application. I have a newer ipod, so I didn't have to download any updates or anything. But I know what you mean. I tried to download a video and had to update my itunes software. Took hours and froze a couple times. Very frustrating!! You mean you can't adjust the volume of the music playing with the app is running? I was able to adjust the volume. Maybe try taking it off and reloading it? I feel your pain, though. Love the kittie names! Our dog's full name is Tullamore Dew. Kind of regal, huh? Yea, I know, it's a whiskey, but it's what she came with!

Hi Hottie!! That Internet stuff makes no sense. I don't fully understand all the costs, but it just doesn't make sense not to have it in your field. I wouldn't mind a tummy tuck (after four kids it's not pretty!), but like you, couldn't justify the money. And, I'm a wimp when it comes to that stuff. I have to say - I love my ipod touch!! It is pretty awesome. I agree, though, sometimes the updating stuff is a pain. I always kind of wanted one, but didn't realize how much I would love it when I actually got it.

Must get some work done...

Joanne
