Getting us started.

So what are the weekend plans if any? Not much for us here.

On my agenda is an iTread instead of a CC just for the change of pace.

We had wicked storms go through here last night and it woke me up at 3am .

Couldn't go back to sleep until around 5am when it started to calm down.

Hubby tells me we had tornado warnings at that time and actually one touched down about 50 miles away.

I'm not surprised as the wind was howling and whipping around my house during that time.

Thankfully so far everything in my area seems to be ok

Good Morniing Vilma, and all to follow!!! (sorry in advance for typos, my "i" key is acting up)...

I was pooped ths mornng, again. Slept "in" (7:00am) , but i ddn't feel like getting up even then. So I got up and did my AM chores and then had my coffee. STILL felt groggy. So tried me a Zipfizz! I kind of liked the fizz and the taste, different! My head defnitely felt weird/different afterwards. Maybe like a rush of caffeine? So I went downstars and tackled my workout. I did 4DS: BOOTCAMP, followed by 200 Walking Lunges. The lunges were tough, but do-able. My HR was still up there for those. i feel pretty good right now!

Oh, and yesterday I did NOT veg on the couch , watch TV and pig. Instead, took my 2 younger boys to the Children's Museum , again. They wanted to go! I ended up getting a membership. A great distraction (for them & me!).

Vilma: Holy crap on those bad storms last night! Good thing you didn't know about the tornado. Oddly enough, me and the boys watched Wizard of Oz on TV last nght (and the rest from DVR this morning). See any witches fly by there???? Enjoy your CC today!

A long working weekend for me. Hubby's turn to work Sunday night too, so we have a sitter all weekend, and then I have to do Monday by myself after no/little sleep. Joy Joy!

Hey guys! I have this weird "tickle" in my throat that is making me cough. :( I'm not even sure if there's any mucus in my chest anymore but I want it to clear up a bit more before trying to work out. If I do workout, I'm debating between Imax2 and BM2.

My lab meeting went actually pretty well! I was frankly shocked...constantly waiting for him to be jerk but instead...wait for it...was USEFUL. Like we actually went over some of the problems I have had in this one experiments, and he helped! My husband was just amazed too. But I like it! I like it a lot! It's nice to see him improving as a manager...and he probably heard a little of my complaints of unprofessionalism too. But I was pretty smart about how I presented my data too and I got to show, look at how much new stuff I've done. So I'm sure that made him happy.

Vilma -- have fun with the run. I totally would be scared about tornadoes. Though I guess I should be slightly worried about the fires, but I'm used to it now and I live so close to the beach and much further south.

Chris -- sounds like a great workout. I hope your work weekend isn't too stressful. Always come on here to vent...

HI ladies..

Today is a rest day for me..Lauren has choir practice and then we are going to mass after that. We also went to the library today to get some books. I got a whole bunch to keep me busy..

Hi friends! Chiming in sort of late here.... I also had a bad night of sleep -- almost as if I had been drinking too much, but I hadn't had any! So I tried to sleep in. We also had wicked winds not last night but the night before -- in fact, I thought we would be late for the field trip because I had to clear two giant branches off the road to get my car through. Actually, one was so big I had to call hubby to bring the chain saw. And, it was 65 degrees at 7am, so with that wind and temperature, I was worried about a fire here! I heard about the one at Montecito. Yikes!

Funny about watching the wizard of oz, Chris!

Hottie, great news about your manager! Things do get better sometimes.....

I did kbell swings this morning:

Warm up
40 2 hand swings 1 min. on 1 min. rest x 5 sets = 10 min.

Work sets
#1
40 1 swing, 1 transfer, 2 min. on, 1 min. rest
#2
20 L, 20 R, 20 L, 20 R, 1 hand swings, 2 min. on, 1 min. rest
#3
40 2 hand swings, 1 min. on, 1 min. rest

These 3 sets took 8 min. to complete. I alternated sets #1-3 in order x 5 = 40 min. Total WO time 50 min.

To be exact. This taken from Tracy's website -- credit where credit due. I used my small bell for all of it except the two handed swings for 3 sets I did the heavy bell. My arms are fried. I think I need better hand or forearm strength, but the thing is.... I already have popeye forearms from the competitive swimming I did as a kid, and I'm afraid of getting bigger ones!! Do your forearms hurt, Vilma? Oh, and have you seen Tracy's videos on youtube? You can search for reifkind -- kind of fun to see. Sorry for all of the kbell talk, guys.

We are having friends over for dinner tonight so I need to get out and buy some groceries. Other than that it's a low key weekend of laundry! Have a good one!

-Beth

Chris so the zipfizz worked ? Sounds like it helped you kick butt on your workout today. I'm thinking I'll pick up some more for days when my coffee is just not moving me as fast as I'd like.

The children's museum sounds like such a better alternative to just vegging on the coach - so kudos to you and the kids :D

Hottie Glad to hear that your meeting turned out to be a positive experience for you.

So which did you end up doing? Imax2 or BM2?

Kathy
Hope you are enjoying your rest day with your family

Beth check your PM :p I replied back to you now I'm looking at that workbook! Oy! My credit card is going to start burning a whole in my pocket. Oh did you ever get Keith's dvd?

That kbell routine you did sounds awesome!

Man!

Now I'm not sure if I want to try Tracey's routine tomorrow or Squeeze Stronger which I just took out of my mailbox a few hours ago lol.

I'm a bit confused at wo #1 though
Whats the 1 transfer?

My forearms never hurt when doing swings just my quads, inner thighs and hams protest a bit lol I also feel it in my core area.

Have a great dinner w/ your friends.

So I ended up doing iTread 11/40.

Now these guided workouts I always run full throttle ahead.

Today I decided to try something different.

I used my weighted vest set at 10# and used Grace's walking cues instead of the runner's that I usually do.

With my short legs my numbers are slightly below Grace's running cues but way above her jogger's numbers.

Anyway I would never have thought I was going to get such a kick ass workout using my vest and the walking numbers. OMG!

It really worked my legs something fierce!
Afterwards I did some swings with my 12k.

My legs are jello-fied! :eek::D

Hey! Vilma, I did get Keith's dvd and previewed just a bit of it -- I probably jumped the gun on buying all of these dvds since I feel like all I know I can do right now is swings and I'm fine with doing them while listening to my ipod and watching the clock! Oh well! That number 1 swing and then transfer is just doing a one-handed swing, transfer to the other hand, do one one-handed swing, transfer to the other hand, and so on. So instead of doing straight alternating transfers, you do a one-handed swing in between. I really like that Tracy has so many workouts posted, but that's one thing -- a lot of times I feel like I am reading a foreign language and I just really don't know what she means!

Your weighted vest itrain sounds great! I may try something like that tomorrow. I wanted to do squeeze stronger since it requires more time (easier to do on a weekend), but I'm feeling pretty fried in the upper body, so thinking I may need straight cardio instead.

Chris, yes, I meant to ask.... do you think the zipfizz gets credit for you getting through that tough workout or do you think there was some placebo effect going on? Honestly, I'm not sure now that I'm so invested in the zipfizz. ;-)

-Beth

Almost out the door to work...

Beth... Yes, the zipfizz DEFINITELY gave me some ZIP!

I'm going to try it at my 3am "lull" tonight, and I'll tell you if it REALLY works!

Off I go!....

Beth thanks for the explanation - Still not sure what I'll be doing tomorrow Squeeze Stronger or Tracey's routine that you posted but I copy & saved it here.

Chris
I'll be interested to know if the zipfizz helped. I'm still undecided if it worked or not for me since I drink coffee anyways, but not sure if what I felt was the zipfizz actually working or like Beth states a placebo effect.

Well I'm off to finish previewing my new SqS :) so far I like the look of this new dvd.

Good morning all!

I didn't do anything but eat yesterday. :( Just a bit depressed for a variety of reasons. But every day is a new day right? I will not be deterred today! And I'm going to be productive. Definitely on the tap is Imax2 and maybe a small run, lots of housework, planning a new month rotation, and spending quality time with DH.

Have a happy Sunday!

Wow, I thought I was checking in late.... where is everyone?! :) Hottie, a run after imax 2?! Are you crazy? :) Hope you enjoyed imax 2. I did cc #3 this morning in the woods. I did a combination of wearing my weighted vest and running. It was fun, but I may have tweaked my knee. Don't know if it happened then or in the last hour when I was sitting on the floor playing spiderman monopoly with the boys! :) We are not anywhere near done but I needed a break for food. I have a feeling it is going to be a marathon session.... I didn't know how much money to give everyone and I think I gave too much because we all have way too much money left. Sometimes I hate monopoly! :)

It's going to be another hot day here -- I hate to complain, but I am complaining about it!!! Geez, it is almost tgiving for crying out loud.... let's have some crisp fall weather!!

Chris, can't wait to hear how the zipfizz worked at 3am -- hope it did the trick for you!

have a great day everyone.....

-Beth

Have had quite a busy day thus far. Phone calls to my family in NYC, laundry you get the idea. lol

Couldn't get online any sooner as my dh was using my laptop as he was fixing the DD's computer and the family pc was being used by DS doing schoolwork.

Checking in with Squeeze Stronger 80m long but it felt it went by fast.

Different type of workout than what I've done before but I felt it deep inside the muscles. Didn't burn much calories (just over 200 but my monitor says 60% of that was fat soo hmmm) though so I may end up doing some swings w/ my 12k kettlebell to get the HR nice and up. If my glutes are willing lol

I like it though but I can see using the premixes more w/ my cardio & kettlebell days.

Hottie here's hoping you can get out of that funk - I know it all to well and I'm always running from those dark clouds that try to engulf me. My workouts are my saving grace from it.
Hope Imax2 &/or a run helps you pull out of it.

Beth How was your dinner party last night?

Sounds like you enjoyed that run through the woods - take care of that knee

Oh we have monoploy here and I love it when I don't have anything to do during the day. I can get to be a long game and drag on endlessly though. Can't recall when the last time we all played it though. We also enjoy mancala :) and UNO.

I plan on getting The Game of Life for us again soon. I have no idea what happened to it I'm thinking it got lost in the shuffle during our last move 5 yrs ago.

Waves to Chris, Kathy, Joanne, Ivy & Iris

Have a great Sunday !

Hey Gals!

Just a quickie. Hubby is off getting take-out for supper and should be home soon....

So the verdict is: Zipfizz WORKS!! Last night was a perfect test for it. We had extra staff (don't ask me how that happened) and i only had 4 patients ALL night  SOunds nice, but the night dragged by, with hardly anything to do. At 2am I was starting to nod off! SO I took out the Zipfizz (tried the berry one, which was very strong , I thought , for 16 oz of water), and drank it up! I DEFINITELY got energy afterwards. NOt that it lasted all night, but for those 3-ish hours I wasn't curled up under the desk sawing logs!

And another thing I discovered: 200 Walking Lunges have after effects on the lower body!!! I challenge all of you to do 200 and then tell me how you feel. It doesn't take long, maybe 5-7 minutes? I was in PAIN this morning at work. Holy CRAP! I felt like I needed to borrow my patient's walker!

Hottie: Hope you feel better!!!! I hate getting into "funks". I've been there before too. (((hugs))) . If anything, IMAX2 and a run can bring you up a bit!

Vilma
: From reading your review, Squeeze STronger sounds a little "lame". Only 200 calories for 80 minutes? Hmmmmm...

Beth: I'm not a fan of MOnopoly (it does drag on!). But my boys and hubby love it! Hope your game ends soon (or not!)

See you all tomorrow. STarting week #3 of NOV rotation!

Chris Glad you found zipfizz worked for you. Next time I go into Target I'll try to pick some up again.

Girl I've done 200 walking lunges so i know what you are talking about lmao Good Lordy its one where you have a hard time getting off the toilet lol

As far as Squeeze Stronger I don't burn a whole lot doing Cathe's weight work either unless I'm using my high step.

But I did work up a nice sweat that dripped onto my puzzle mats. The intensity I felt inside the muscles was good so I'm happy I have it to add to my workouts.

I don't think I'll be doing the entire 80 m workout though and will use the premixes as a nice finishing touch to my workouts :p

I liked it and omg my arms and butt feel fired seriously lol

So how are you liking Nov.'s rotation?

I like to ask because I wonder if its something I would do when I feel ready for Cathe's rotations again.

Well have a great day and enjoy that dinner. Tonight its leftovers and kids choice so I'll be having myself a nice baked sweet potato

Vilma, my HRM said I burned 398 calories the first time I did squeeze stronger, and 366 the second time. Maybe I'm just not as fit as you? But, my other friend I talked into it said she didn't sweat as nearly as much as she does for something like muscle max. Hmmm! Good idea to split it up with the kbells -- I may do it that way, too.

Chris -- good news on the zipfizz! Yes, I find it all flavored too strongly -- I keep adding more ice and water when I use it. 200 walking lunges -- yowsa! My hamstrings are sore today, but maybe I'll try your challenge tomorrow.... do you count each step as one, so essentially 100 per leg?

We gave up on monopoly... had a couple of breaks, went back to it, but I think we've officially now.

The dinner was fun last night -- good to spend time with friends like that.

I'm doing laundry today, too -- I need to go fold........

-Beth

Hiya Beth -

We posted at the same time.

As it is I have a hard time getting my HR up nowadays, even for my runs. I feel I need to push harder to get it up so I guess my heart is in good shape? lol

I did get nice and sweaty with SqS and feeling how it worked my muscles, well for me its a keeper.

See you all in the morning!
