Notebook? I-pad?

Hi all,

So, I need to buy a small-ish computer type device to take on the road with me that doesn't weigh a ton like my laptop. I would mostly need it for internet access and possibly an office suite for a Word product.

I know there are a bunch of devices out there. Could you please share with me the good, bad and useless from what you've used.

I don't have an Ipad, but they are apparently awesome for travel. One of the beauties of the Ipad is that it syncs with your Iphone (do have that, love it!!) and if you have a mac (I don't) if you have that at home. Not for sure, but don't think you can easily print from these devices?? One of their "problems", but maybe that's the Iphone, not the Ipad. Also, don't think they are on board with the microsoft suit of office products, but maybe a similar apple suite? Only one of the Ipad versions is available for "free" surfing at wifi hotspots only, the other ones all require the monthly data fee to surf anywhere. Airplanes are even starting to carry wifi (must pay for it), but if you really travel a lot, would probably be worth it.

Thanks, Geomom. Since I don't have anything Apple (as of yet- I keep hearing such great things about it), I may have to go with something more ordinaray like a notebook until I can afford to switch it all over.

Gonna research some more.
