No Sweets first week of April

Affirm

Cathlete
Hello Ladies. I can' t believe that it is April already, and we are beginning month #4 of the challenge. I started my morning with the cardio portion of Body Max 2. I haven't really thought about goals for this month as I didn't really accomplish my goal for last month. I had too many "bad days" in March or shall I say "bad weeks".

Hey there! Month #4 wow! Some have come and gone, but we are still here. Struggling sometimes, but getting back up and starting again if necessary.

Today I did a short cardio + PS:SL&A. I decided to do PS for three more days (today, tomorrow, and Tuesday), and I'll start the CTX rotation next week. My diet has been ok, but I need to eat more foods with fiber again. I stopped due to my little situation last week, but things are getting slowly back to normal and I'm adding fiber to my diet little by little.

By the way I got a haircut yesterday. My hair was waist length and a mess and now it's bra line length with long layers. :) I was going to reward myself if I reached my goal this month, but I didn't (I lost about 1 pound total), but I decided not to cancel my appointment and go ahead and get a haircut anyways. I'm glad I did.

My goals for April are pretty much the same: lose 2-3 pounds. As I'm closer to my goal weight it's becoming harder and harder to lose, but I'm determined to do what it takes (in a healthy way, of course).

I hope you ladies have a nice week.

Hey ladies. I am just now starting to feel human again. It's been a rough two and a half days. My fever got up to 101.5 yesterday along with headache, bodyaches and neck pain x( I am feeling some better but not up to par. So no workouts and eating not good. Have been sipping on sprite and even had some french fries yesterday. I will get back on track soon.

Sorry to be so whiney!!

hope all of you all are doing well!!!

Fitfairy, I am sorry you are not feeling well. I hope you get your energy back soon. Take it easy though.

Rose, you are so right. We are there to pick each other up when we are down. Congratulations on your hair cut. You definitely deserve it. Wow! Your hair was very long. I am sure you are going to love a new look for the spring season. You may not have lost 2-3 pounds in March, but you have definitely accomplished a lot this 2007 year, therefore, very deserving of the reward. Congrats!

Catherine, I also hope you get your energy back as soon as possible. Don't think about diet or lack of exercise now. Your body needs to rest. Take care.

>Hi ladies!! I am feeling better everyday. And I am
>respecting my need to rest. Hopefully by mid week I can

I hope so too. Don't worry you'll have plenty of time to get back on track.

>This check in has been so helpful in so many ways and I so
>enjoy getting to know you all!! Just wanted to say that
>again!!

I feel the same way. :)

Today I did LM warm up and blasts (this time I did the amped A-jock's version using a med ball on blasts 1-6, wow did that get my heart rate up!) then I did PS:CST. One more day and I'm done with PS! Yippee!

Hello ladies, how are you today?

I was put on a carb-rich diet for a couple of days because I'm having IBS symptoms due to the sorbitol incident last week. I've never had IBS so I'm hoping this is going to be temporary. So my diet is pretty much zero fat, tons of carbs and sugar (from fruit, 100% apple juice, etc.), no dairy, no soymilk (x( :-( ), and little fiber. I'm getting my calcium from a multivitamin and I'm going to buy enriched almond milk (which I can drink instead of soy or regular milk). I tried to reintroduce fiber little by little without going to the doctor and last night I couldn't sleep because all the symptoms came back. Oh well. I don't know what to eat though. I miss my soymilk, my cereal, my 100% whole grain toast, my yogurt, my nuts, my cheeses, my salads with tons of veggies, oh I miss a lot of things. Last night I was sad because I can't eat what I want and this carb-rich diet is pretty crappy. I was told to keep exercising as usual though, so I did 10-10-10 and PS:BBA today and it is my final day of PS. At least I have something to be happy for. Hopefully I can get rid of this and I can go back to my regular diet soon. I will never eat anything with sorbitol ever again! I'd rather eat something with cream and sugar than with fat and sugar substitutes. I learned my lesson.

Rose, glad to hear that you are progressing towards recovery. I am sure the carb-rich diet will be over soon. I am sure you were happy to be able to get in a workout in the midst of all this.

My diet has been clean. Monday, I did PUB and today (Tues.) was interval 6 - 10 of IMAX 2.

Hello there. Affirm you're doing great with the workouts way to go.

Catherine I'm glad you're feeling better. When you can actually work out remember you can start with yoga. Then you can graduate to C&W cardio only and go up from there. Peanut Butter on a whole grain toast (something I can't eat right now) always gives me energy. Your body is still healing and that maybe the reason for your fatigue. As soon as you can add healthier food to your diet do that and you can also take your doggies for a walk because that definitely counts as exercise.

As for me, I didn't sleep well last night because I was sooooo hungry. I went to bed at around 11:00 and actually fell asleep after 3am! This diet is driving me insane. Today is the second day and I got one more day to go. This "thing" does not give me a fever or fatigue so I can continue my normal exercising routine and I was encouraged to do so because it helps my immune system. Today I'm doing some yoga at home. There's no way I'm going out with this. I'm also cancelling all my Easter activities and I'm staying at home catching up on a lot of things I haven't done yet. This too shall pass.

Rose, I would have started back with yoga except all I have is power yoga LOL!! So I did C&W cardio today. I also did a few chinups-18. It felt good. I didn't push myself. I actually hadn't planned on working out. But go the urge on the way home and so I jumped right in. Eating is also much better.

Rose, I hope you get some rest tonight!! I hope this diet helps your problem. I hate to hear you are cancelling Easter activities :(

Affirm, how ya doing?? Strong as a rock I am sure!!

Hello ladies. Today was my rest day. Eating was pretty good. A had a couple of pieces of caramel after lunch. I haven't decided what workout that I will do tomorrow.

Hi ladies. Today I felt so much better. I can't believe that awful zero fat/ridiculously high carb diet helped me with my problem, but it did. Now I'm adding my favorite foods to my diet little by little.

Today I started my CTX rotation and it felt amazing. It's nice to change things a bit. I forgot how high impact those cardios are so I will probably substitute for low impact short cardios when I don't feel like doing high impact. The weight work is awesome and I was lifting higher than Cathe on most exercises too. That will probably be the case for anyone that has been working out with Cathe for a long time or for someone just finishing a PS or GS rotation like I am. Hopefully I see some results because I feel that it's taking longer and longer for me to reach my weight goal. People are not kidding around when they say the last 10-15 lbs are the hardest ones to lose.

Rose, I am glad you are feeling much better. Hang it there, those last pounds are coming off. With our challenge and you hardwork and tough workouts that you do, I see some definitive-- not short term changes for you. It may see slow, but it will be long-term.

We are out of school for spring break now. I will be leaving in a couple of days to go out of town, so if I don't check in next week you will know why. Happy Easter!

Whoa! Today I did probably one of the best workouts ever and in just about an hour. From CTX, 10-10-10 (cardio) + S&int (chest) + 10-10-10 (triceps & stretch). Ladies you need to try this. Even if you're not doing a CTX rotation this is an awesome combo and they're all on the same DVD. I completely forgot how awesome is the upper body weight work of CTX. I was using the same weight as Cathe and higher on some exercises, but I have to tell you when she said on S&int: "now push-ups!", I couldn't believe it. I had to do them on my knees and when checked out the TV even Cathe was doing the push-ups on her knees! The weight work might be short and not as heavy as other DVDs, but somehow the count variations and all those reps work. Oh and yes there are tricep push-ups on 10-10-10 (one set I think), but I did a couple on my toes before dropping to my knees and finish the set.

I know it's taking a long time for me to reach my goal weight, but I won't let that stop me. Some people just give up and forget about diet and exercise when this happens, but I won't do that. I'm not getting any younger either and I know that diet and exercise help me, not only with the way I look, but with my health. I was reading a couple of days ago that for every pound we lose, the force that our knees absorb is reduced by approximately four pounds. That's what my doctor was trying to tell me the last time I was having knee pain. Since I'm a pear and I carry most of my weight on my hips and thighs it was best to lose weight and be in the lowest portion of the weight range allowed for my height and body frame. I'm not still in the healthy range. I need to lose about 3 pounds to be in the highest part of the range, but I will get there eventually. :)

I hope you ladies have a Happy Easter. Affirm I'm also on a mini vacation, but I go back to my normal routine on Monday. I'm not going to see my friends as I had planned, but I'm going to see my mom and my dad and eat some yummy fish that my mom always makes. Take care.

Rose, WTG on your awesome w/o!! My CTX is gathering dust. I must get it out. You are right about the wt work in CTX it does get in there!! And I love your attitude about losing the wt.

I did B&G overall legs (but skipped part of the floor work). It felt good to work the legs!! Tomorrow will be GS C&T.

I don't want to talk about my eating at this point OK?? Let's just say it aint the best but it could be worse.

Affirm, enjoy your time away

Happy Easter!!

I don't own CTX. I has been on my interest list for a while, but every time I think about getting it, I opt for new videos.

I did Muscle Max this morning and enjoyed the whole workout. I usually opt for premixes due to time, but it was so nice doing the entire workout.

Today I had some vanilla bean ice cream. REAL ice cream I might add, with milk, cream, sugar, and vanilla. No sorbitol or things like that. It felt good to eat the real thing again.:) Besides that my diet was clean.

My workout for today was from CTX. I did some cardio, back, biceps, and abs. Call me crazy, but in three days of this rotation I'm starting to see some changes in my definition. My arms are looking more defined. Of course I'm lifting higher than Cathe on most exercises and I'm planning to work 2 body parts twice a week which is more than doing CTX as is, but I always lift as high as I can handle while maintaining good form and the weights they use are way too light for me at this point. Last year I wouldn't even dream of lifting as high as Cathe or higher, but I guess hard work is starting to pay off.

Catherine, don't worry about the mistakes you made with your diet. Let's just count those as cheat days and start clean again tomorrow. (or Monday... :p)

Affirm, to be honest, if I were you I'd wait for Cathe's upcoming workouts before even thinking about getting CTX. The weight work is amazing, but I know you're not a big fan of high impact cardio and these workouts are definitely high impact. Of course you can always modify or maybe you can do the weight work of CTX and do the cardios ocasionally and you can also do other low impact cardios you already own with the weight work, but I would wait before making that purchase.

Again, I hope you have a great Easter. Tomorrow I'm doing yoga. If I can't log in tomorrow I will definitely be back on Monday. Take care.
