Need a detox system

No, NOT a colon cleanser!

This w/e I had to clean out my basement & I also put in a new kitchen ceiling (by myself! I'm very proud of this but it's a topic for a different thread ;-) ). So in the process of cleaning the crap out of my basement & removing the disgusting old ceiling tiles & the variety of debris that sat on top of them for lord knows how long (including piles & piles of mouse droppings given my recent rodent problems) I inhaled a lot of stuff that's completely freaking me out.

When I blew my nose after the grossest stuff came out! My sinuses & lungs are really irritated & I can only imagine what kind of crap is now in my system.

Is there anything I can drink or take to detox? I totally have the heebie jeebies over this.......

OH Laura,

Go into a steamroom, and sweat it all out. Or get into your tub as hot as you can, stay under (except your head of course) for about 15-20 min., get out, wrap yourself in a blanket, lay down and sweat it out. That will help a great deal. Get some fresh air and breath in deeply. Drink in lots of fresh clean water.

Take care girl!

Janie

The idea is to die young as late as possible.

If you go to your local health food store and talk to someone knowledgable, they may be able to steer you in the right direction. There are many gentle detox programs out there. Enzymatic Therapy has a very gentle good cleanse. Your liver may need some extra attenion.

My husband uses something called Neilmed sinus kit

www.neilmed.com

it is similar to the other product. You put the solution in water in the special bottle and squirt. He says it cleans him out quite well.

Janie, did it take you long to get the technique down, I'm nervous about getting that extrememly unpleasant 'water up the sinuses' feeling or choking on it. I've been intrigued by this for a long time but I'm a big chicken. Any tips or advice? TIA:D

Take Care

Not sure if this is what you may want, but when my sinuses get very irritated with pollens to the point of giving me a migraine, I just inhale quite a few squirts of nasal saline solution and it actually goes all the way up my sinuses and down my throat. Then I spit it out.

It does help me a bit.

Hi Lauramax,

I also cleanse my nose/sinus on a daily basis. After having countless sinus infections, this is what my nose/ear specialist
recommended. It is also is great if you have been working around a lot of dust and debris, ie. construction/remodeling or gardening, etc.

It is somewhat like using a Neti Pot, but the results are better.

Saline Lavage Instructions:
Cooled boiled water. Put in a GLASS jar (I use a Mayo jar) Add
2 t. sea salt(It is preservative free) & 2 t. baking soda.

Using a Blue Blub Syringe(Like an Ear Syringe, the smaller size works better); draw in water. Bend over sink and squirt
into nasal passages. It will drain out the other nostril.

It is easier than sounds. Kind of like holding your breath when swimming. Just a natural reflex. Also by boiling your own saline solution, it is much, much cheaper than buying over the counter and also much more effective.

It is just a daily ritual for me, just like brushing your teeth or
WORKING OUT.

Thanks guys. Truthfully I'm more worried about what's in my lungs than in my sinuses. I did Step Blast this morning & afterward I felt much better--I think sweating helped get some of these toxins out of my body.

I've been fretting over this for days. Especially the crap from the ceiling--my house was built in 1870 & has a plaster ceiling above the new plumbing. Some chunks of the plaster came down & I'm very concerned that I was breathing in asbestos (this in addition to the disgusting diseases & bacteria from rodent feces).

I'm done w/this stuff. I don't have the time, patience or talent. If I don't find myself a handy BF soon (& there's no reason to believe I will) I'm paying someone to do my next project, even if I have to beg, borrow and/or steal.........:+

Stand at the sink, facing down, put the spout up to one nostril, then tip your head sideways and down a bit (your forehead will be lower than your nose). Keep breathing through your mouth. Water should start coming out the nostril opposite the one you have the pot stuck up to. If not, fiddle with your positioning a bit. If your forehead isn't down enough, the solution may get into your throat. If so, hack it up and spit it out.

Don't try this if you have completely blocked nasal passages, but it's good for partially-blocked passages and for rinsing pollen, mold and other crud out.

Nowdays, you can buy a Neti pot in many pharmacies ( I saw a kit in Walgreen's the other day), and there are always instructions that come with it.

"The PH Miracle" addresses the dangers of myotoxins (which are produced in our bodies when they have mold or funguses or candida in them; I suspect you have added some more to your normal load). He details how to get rid of them using a high-alkaline diet.

Didn't you use a face mask when doing this? Maybe next time.
